837991d5a2 chore(#1087): Windows test-portability lint + n/no-path-concat + LF normalization (#1088)
* chore(#1087): add Windows test-portability lint + DEFECT.WINDOWS-TEST-PORTABILITY

Local gsd-test runs Mac+Linux only, so Windows-only test failures (Git Bash
msys2 not honoring Node's chmod exec bit for PATH-executing extension-less
scripts; `/` vs `\` path assertions) surface for the first time in CI's
windows lanes — repeatedly (most recently PR #1084's #381 fix).

Add scripts/lint-windows-test-portability.cjs: a high-signal, low-false-
positive tripwire that flags any tests/**/*.test.cjs combining a chmod exec
bit with a `sh -c`/`bash -c` invocation and no process.platform guard, unless
annotated `// windows-portability-ok: <reason>`. Wired into lint:ci and
runnable as `npm run lint:windows-test-portability`. Clean against all 721
current test files (zero pre-existing violations).

Document the broader anti-pattern as DEFECT.WINDOWS-TEST-PORTABILITY in
CONTEXT.md (.symptom/.examples/.detect/.fix-forward/.prevention): local
gsd-test cannot substitute for the CI windows lane — watch it green before
declaring a PR done.

tests/lint-windows-test-portability.test.cjs covers the scanContent matrix.

Closes #1087

* chore(#1087): enable n/no-path-concat + add .gitattributes/.editorconfig (LF)

Two cross-platform "free wins" complementing the Windows test-portability lint:
- Enable eslint-plugin-n's n/no-path-concat (already-installed plugin) as
  'error' — flags string path concatenation (the / vs \ separator class).
  Zero existing violations, so it's a clean ratchet, not a refactor.
- Add .gitattributes (* text=auto eol=lf + binary exemptions) and .editorconfig
  (LF, UTF-8, final newline, trim whitespace) to normalize line endings and
  kill the CRLF-only-fails-on-Windows class at the source.

7c07fce70f fix(#381): make gsd_run launcher reachable in fresh-shell-per-block runtimes (#1084)
* fix(#381): make gsd_run launcher reachable in fresh-shell-per-block runtimes

On runtimes that execute each fenced bash block in a separate shell process
(e.g. Claude Code — documented behavior: each Bash command is a separate
process; inline shell functions and exported vars do not persist between
calls), the once-per-file gsd_run() function was undefined in every block
after the preamble block, and the call was swallowed by
`2>/dev/null || echo "{}"` into silent empty state.

Fix (budget-neutral session-level resolution):
- Ship gsd-core/bin/gsd_run, a POSIX sh wrapper that symlink-resolves its own
  location and execs the co-located gsd-tools.cjs. Exposed on PATH via the npm
  `bin` field (global installs) and shipped to local installs via the recursive
  gsd-core/ copy.
- The per-file launcher preamble now appends `export PATH='<bindir>':"$PATH"`
  to the file named by $CLAUDE_ENV_FILE (Claude Code's documented
  env-persistence mechanism) so later fresh-shell blocks resolve gsd_run from
  PATH. Guarded as a strict no-op when CLAUDE_ENV_FILE is unset; the inline
  gsd_run() definition remains the fallback for all other runtimes. The
  single-quoted dir neutralizes shell metacharacters at source time.
- Propagated via scripts/sync-runtime-launcher.cjs to all launcher-using files.
- XL workflow byte budget 93000 -> 93200 (the ~130B clause pushes plan-phase.md
  to 93135; legitimate content growth, ratchet-up per #717).

Regression tests (I)/(J) in runtime-launcher-parity.test.cjs cover wrapper
delegation and end-to-end PATH persistence (sourcing the env file with a
space-bearing install path).

Known limitation: an install path containing a literal single-quote yields a
malformed env-file line and falls back to the status quo (no regression);
rare on sanitized home directories.

Closes #381

* docs(#381): add changeset for gsd_run fresh-shell reachability fix

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* test(#381): scope test (J) bare-PATH execution to POSIX (Windows Git Bash exec bit)

Windows Git Bash (msys2) does not honor Node's chmod exec bit for
PATH-executing extension-less scripts, so the bare `gsd_run` command lookup
failed there even though the env-file PATH persistence was correct. The
env-file content assertions (the fix's actual cross-platform logic) still run
on every platform; only the final source-and-execute sub-step is gated to
non-win32. Global installs on Windows are covered by npm's generated bin shim.

7749e4f16e docs(#1065): record DEFECT.INVENTORY-MERGE-UNDERCOUNT in CONTEXT.md (#1066)
The INVENTORY.md "CLI Modules (N shipped)" headline is an ABSOLUTE filesystem
count, not a delta. Two branches each adding a bin/lib module both bump N->N+1,
so the merge under-counts and tests/inventory-counts.test.cjs hard-fails on the
CI merge-commit across all platforms — even though each branch passed local
gsd-test (which runs branch-only, not branch+next). Hit #844 and #1059.

Adds a DEFECT.INVENTORY-MERGE-UNDERCOUNT predicate (.symptom/.detect/.fix-forward/
.prevention) after DEFECT.INVENTORY-DRIFT: re-derive the count from the filesystem
+ regen the manifest BEFORE every push on module-adding branches.

58bfae9d6a refactor(#1059): phase 5f-1 — extract standalone hook-surface writers into a module — ADR-857/1016 (#1064)
* refactor(#1059): phase 5f-1 — extract standalone hook-surface writers into a module

Extract the structurally-isolated hook-surface writer functions (cline/cursor/
copilot/codex-hooks-json + buildHookCommand + atomicWriteFileSync + node/bash runner
resolvers) out of bin/install.js into a new src/runtime-hooks-surface.cts module
(-693 LOC from install.js). Behavior-preserving: install.js requires + re-exports
the moved functions (module.exports surface preserved); no descriptor reads, no
behavior change. Prerequisite for the descriptor-drive (5f-2), mirroring ADR-3660's
artifactLayout extract→drive split.

Review caught + fixed 3 coupling issues: (HIGH) the module's atomicWriteFileSync
dropped the shared __atomicWrittenTmps temp-tracking → now ONE shared set (module
owns it, install.js aliases it, both cleanups read it); (drift) buildHookCommand
called resolveNodeRunner(opts) vs the original resolveNodeRunner() → reverted; two
source-grep tests (workflow-guard, sh-hook-paths) that scanned install.js for the
moved functions → made behavioral/non-vacuous; duplicate runner resolvers consolidated.

Settings-json hook block (~648 LOC) deferred to 5f-1b; descriptor-drive to 5f-2.
New-module checklist done. ~62 hook test files green; gsd-test 17592/0.

Closes #1059

* chore(#1059): reconcile CLI Modules count after merging next (uat-predicate)

Merging current next (which added uat-predicate.cjs via #247) alongside this
branch's runtime-hooks-surface.cjs put the filesystem at 107 bin/lib modules, but
both sides had independently bumped the INVENTORY headline 105→106 so the merge
under-counted. Set "CLI Modules (107 shipped)" + regenerate INVENTORY-MANIFEST.json.
Both module rows already present. Fixes inventory-counts.test.cjs (the only CI red).

9223f2f4c8 feat(#247): runtime-neutral phase uat-passed predicate from HUMAN-UAT results (#1063)
* feat(#247): runtime-neutral phase uat-passed predicate from HUMAN-UAT results

Wire the already-reserved `phase.uat-passed` alias (subcommand `uat-passed`,
mutation:false) into the phase command router with a new markdown-aware
predicate that evaluates HUMAN-UAT results and reports pass only when every
required check passes. Post-SDK-retirement (ADR-0174/#174) successor to the
SDK-framed #70, with no SDK-specific API surface.

New pure module src/uat-predicate.cts:
- stripFalsePositiveContexts: frontmatter -> HTML-comment -> CommonMark-style
  fenced-block state machine (tracks delimiter char+length) -> blockquote,
  each a small composable step, so a `result: passed` inside frontmatter, a
  fenced/~~~ block (incl. ~~~ nested in a ``` fence), a comment, or a
  blockquote is never counted.
- parseUatResultItems: heading-block parser, column-0-anchored same-line
  result; a heading with no result -> `missing` (fail-closed).
- analyzeMarkdown: unterminated fence/comment detection (malformed -> blocker).
- evaluateUatPassed: allowlist pass/verification semantics; passed = no
  blockers && >=1 check && all passing; no_uat_artifacts discriminator (no
  vacuous pass); optional requireVerification policy hook.

Thin cmdPhaseUatPassed handler in phase.cts; router closure rejects unknown
flags via makeInvalidArgs. Hardened across two Codex adversarial passes
(vacuous pass, dropped failing tests, permissive verification status,
nested-fence escape, cross-line result value, masked unterminated comment) —
all fixed fail-closed. New unit + CLI-integration suites incl. a fast-check
property test; docs, CONTEXT glossary, inventory, and changeset updated.

* chore(#247): backfill changeset PR number (#1063)

* fix(#247): indexOf paired-scan for unterminated-comment detection

CodeQL js/incomplete-multi-character-sanitization (high) flagged the
`raw.replace(/<!--[\s\S]*?-->/g,'')`-then-`.includes('<!--')` detection in
analyzeMarkdown as incomplete sanitization (a single regex pass can leave a
residual `<!--`). Replace it with a paired left-to-right indexOf scan that
contains no `.replace()` of the comment token — CodeQL-clean and strictly
more correct (a closed earlier comment can never mask a later unterminated
one). Behaviour unchanged; 98 predicate tests + scoped docker run green.

5f48a42514 docs(#1022): resolve step-vs-gate model question — steps additive, gates block, mode self-gates (#1025)
Record the resolution of #1022 (surfaced scoping the §5.6 ui-phase cutover):
a step is purely additive and never halts the host; host-blocking preconditions
are gates (blocking/onError:halt) — no hook-model change. Runtime/mode context
(auto/chain vs manual) self-gates in the skill, not via when (config-only).

§5.6 decomposes into the existing plan:pre step (ui-phase, self-gates on
frontend + pipeline) + a new plan:pre gate (frontend-and-no-UI-SPEC → halt,
when: workflow.ui_safety_gate) that blocks planning in manual mode — preserving
the "run /gsd:ui-phase first" UX (maintainer call: pipelines-only auto-fire).
The render-hooks dispatch template grows to handle gates, not just steps.

Recorded in ADR-894 (clarification) + CONTEXT.md
(RULESET.CAPABILITY.step-additive-gate-blocks). Unblocks the §5.6 cutover.

7eea991884 test(#1018): hook-firing de-risk spike — structural off-means-off proof + cutover contract (#1020)
Spike disposition (a): prove the loop.render-hooks mechanism at the data level
and document the cutover-shape finding, without touching plan-phase.md §5.6.

- tests/loop-hook-firing-spike.test.cjs: makes "off means off" executable — a
  host-computed aggregate (hostConsume) that is a pure function of the active
  hook set; UI active-by-default → 1, off → 0 == independently-computed base
  (not tautological); synthetic 2-hook ordering; second point verify:post.
- CONTEXT.md RULESET.CAPABILITY.cutover-self-gating: the loop hook is coarse;
  phase-context detection + mode self-gate in the skill (ADR-894); §5.6 UI gate
  is the worked example of what must move into gsd-ui-phase before cutover.

Finding: the UI plan:pre hook is already inlined (§5.6) — cutover is move
host-logic-into-skill, not a 1:1 swap. Live LLM-execution of injected hook
markdown is the residual, carried into the first phase-6 cutover acceptance.

61b29d2af6 docs(#1016): ADR-1016 runtime capability descriptor (ADR-857 phase 5 design) (#1019)
Realize ADR-857 Branch 8 (host-CLI support as role:runtime Capabilities) +
materialize ADR-58's InstallPlan. Closes the 6-axis descriptor vocabulary,
absorbs the hard-case runtimes as data, and stages the install migration as a
5a→5g ladder (4/6 axes already modularized; InstallPlan is the 5g capstone,
reachable by collection, not a big-bang rewrite).

Amended after a plugin-side design grill (rubber-duck + grill-with-docs vs
#956 MemPalace / #999 Impeccable):
- New term Connected Capability (CONTEXT.md) — a Capability whose integration
  shape brings its own external process/service/state; orthogonal to authorship.
  Named, tracked gap (vehicle #956); current schema does not express it.
- Narrowed the dogfood claim: the descriptor dogfoods the runtime interface
  only, not the feature-plugin/Connected path.
- Structural "off means off" rule (CONTEXT.md RULESET.CAPABILITY.off-means-off):
  the host derives shared outputs from active hooks; a hook adds/is-counted,
  never mutates host source. Ratify in ADR-894; proven by spike #1018.
- Hand-waves resolved by code: sandboxTier real-but-thin; model-catalog
  orthogonal (not a 7th axis); converters closed into a ConverterName enum +
  added the kimi-agents artifact kind; configHome is pure read-only.
- Hook-firing path is unproven (render-hooks built, never consumed) → spike
  #1018 must prove render-hooks→live-workflow execution before phase-5 build.

Design-only; no code. Status: Proposed.

* feat(#985): intel command cutover — commands-only capability, last first-party family (ADR-857 phase 4d-impl-4)

Migrate the intel CLI command family from a hardcoded gsd-tools.cjs case arm to
a registry-dispatched Capability (commandFamilies mechanism, #961), mirroring
the graphify (#972) and audit (#984) cutovers. New src/intel-command-router.cts
exports routeIntelCommand reproducing all 9 subcommands verbatim (incl. the
status timeAgo non-raw post-processing), lazily requiring intel.cjs inside the
route fn. capabilities/intel/capability.json declares the intel command family;
commands-only (skills:[]), declares the existing intel.enabled gate (default
false — behavior unchanged).

Behavior-CHANGING (dispatch path) but equivalence-proven: CLI output identical;
existing intel.test.cjs passes unchanged. Completes the first-party command-
family cutover sequence (graphify/audit/intel).

* test(#985): compute expected planningDir via path.join in intel cutover unit tests (Windows CI)

The intel-command-cutover unit-mock assertions hardcoded a POSIX `/.planning`
expectation while the router builds it with path.join(cwd, '.planning') →
backslashes on Windows, so the planningDir-arg assertions (query/status/diff/
snapshot/validate/update/api-surface) failed only on windows-latest CI. Compute
the expectation with path.join (cross-platform); production router unchanged.

9a03539c2d feat(#981): audit-uat + audit-open command cutover — commands-only capability (ADR-857 phase 4d-impl-3) (#984)

capabilities/audit/capability.json declares the two command families;
commands-only (skills:[]), no config gate, audit_review cluster untouched.

77bfd943dd feat(#972): graphify command cutover — first capability owning a command family (ADR-857 phase 4d-impl-2) (#975)
Migrate graphify into a Capability that owns its `graphify` command family,
dispatched via the registry (#961 mechanism) instead of a hardcoded case.
graphify is now an enable/disable plug-in.

- src/graphify-command-router.cts: routeGraphifyCommand (standard route*Command),
  reproduces the removed case EXACTLY (query +--budget, status, diff, build,
  hidden build snapshot, usage/unknown errors); injectable _graphify test seam.
- capabilities/graphify/capability.json: role feature, tier:full, skills:[graphify],
  config:{graphify.enabled default false}, commands:[{family:graphify, module,
  router:routeGraphifyCommand}].
- removed case 'graphify' from gsd-tools.cjs; graphify now flows
  default -> dispatchCapabilityCommand -> commandFamilies.graphify -> router.
- regenerated registry (commandFamilies/bySkill/configSchema/profileMembership/
  capabilityClusters for graphify); tier:full keeps 4c install/surface a no-op.

Equivalence-proven: 8 recording-mock unit tests assert the exact fn+args per
subcommand (budget, snapshot-vs-build); 9 subprocess tests assert distinguishing
output shapes; existing graphify tests pass unchanged through the new path.

Surfaced (not silently accepted): the pre-existing --budget-no-value NaN no-op
quirk, preserved for equivalence, filed separately.

0c567c17e4 feat(#961): capability command mechanism (commandFamilies index + default-case dispatch) — ADR-857 phase 4d-impl-1 (#964)
* feat(#961): capability command mechanism — commandFamilies index + default-case dispatch (ADR-857 phase 4d-impl-1)

Build the capability command mechanism per ADR-959: the `commands` declaration
field on the feature role, the registry commandFamilies index, and a real
dispatchCapabilityCommand consulted in runCommand's default case (replacing the
dead _dispatchNonFamily shim's role).

The registry DISCOVERS a standard route*Command (no rebuilt handler table). On a
default-case command, dispatch enforces a bare-.cjs-basename, resolves the module
under gsd-core/bin/lib/, asserts confinement, requires the resolved path, and
own-property-guards the router export before calling it. A require.main===module
guard makes gsd-tools.cjs importable for tests; the CLI path is unchanged.

Additive: commandFamilies is empty today, so the default case is behavior-
preserving for every command; the 10 dead _dispatchNonFamily sites are untouched
(future migration markers). The graphify cutover is the separate next step.

Closes #961

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(#961): surface capability router failures structurally + enforce sync contract

Review follow-up: dispatchCapabilityCommand now wraps the router invocation so an
unexpected (non-ExitError) throw is converted to a structured, attributed
error(msg, SDK_FAIL_FAST) — honoring --json-errors — instead of escaping as a raw
stack trace; an intentional ExitError propagates unchanged. An async router
(returns a thenable) is rejected loudly with a structured error (the contract is
synchronous, like the 12 host routers). Not shipped as "consistent with existing
behavior": the host's pre-existing version of this gap is filed as #965.

34435736e4 docs(#959): ADR-959 capability command contribution (ADR-857 phase 4d design) (#960)
Design how a Capability contributes a gsd-tools CLI command family and how the
hardcoded 73-case runCommand switch opens to registry-driven dispatch. Realizes
ADR-857 decision 7's reserved commands/module field (deferred by ADR-894).

Grilled to its leanest form: the registry DISCOVERS a standard route*Command
(no rebuilt handler table, no new arg convention); dispatch sits in the default
case (collision structurally impossible, no shadowing gate needed); graphify is
the first real cutover (lowest blast radius, has skill+cluster+config gate,
full-only so 4c stays no-op), proven equivalent and serving as the phase-6
template.

(capId → its skills) and profileMembership (capId → {tier, profiles}, where
profiles is the PROFILE_RANK suffix from the capability's tier). A consistency
gate cross-checks them against the hand-authored PROFILES/CLUSTERS: HARD (throws)
on a capId-matching-a-cluster-name with a different skill set; SOFT
(pending-reconciliation stderr warning, not serialized) when a capability skill
isn't yet in the closure-resolved hand-authored profile.

The SOFT gate loads the real skills manifest and resolves each profile's closure
once so transitively-included skills don't false-warn; warnings are de-duped to
one per (capability, skill); both derived views are scoped to skill-owning
capabilities; serialized with a global capId sort for determinism; reserved-name
guards at every write site; lazy requires of the built constants.

Behavior-preserving: install/surface untouched; derived views consumed by
nothing. Full generation rides along with the phase-6 migration.

5670feaef5 feat(#918): loop.render-hooks resolver — consume the Capability Registry (ADR-857 phase 3c) (#920)
Add the loop.render-hooks resolver: the first registry-consuming query.
`gsd-tools loop render-hooks <point>` validates the point against the
authoritative canonical 12, reads the registry's materialized byLoopPoint
hooks, filters them by activation, and emits a JSON envelope {point,
activeHooks, rendered} with ordered markdown.

Activation resolves each hook's `when` key by precedence: loadConfig value
(post-cutover federated) -> raw config.json workstream/root single-key lookup
(pre-cutover central override) -> registry configSchema default (so a
default:true capability hook is active out-of-the-box) -> inactive. Guarded
single-value reads only (no merged object built from untrusted keys).

Registry-only: no workflow calls the resolver yet (wiring is the phase-6
cutover). Completes the phase-3 trio.

6dbd895028 feat(#910): federated config merge in config-loader (ADR-857 phase 3b) (#914)
Build the federated config merge: each capability owns its config-key slice
(ADR-857 decision 3 / ADR-894), and loadConfig merges them defensively. The
registry now emits a full configSchema index ({key:{owner,type,default,
description}}, generator-validated); a new src/federated-config.cts resolves
federated keys defensively (skip central keys -> pending-migration warning,
skip malformed slices -> warning never throw, else type-checked user override
?? default, with nested dotted-path lookup and enum validation); and loadConfig
applies the overlay on every return path.

Wired as a provably-empty no-op channel: every UI-pilot key is still central,
so validKeys is empty and loadConfig returns byte-identical output on all paths
(identity return when the overlay is empty; shared CONFIG_DEFAULTS never
mutated). Registry-only; no key is cut over; nothing in the live loop changes.

6edc39c4eb chore(#893): remove dead loadConfig from configuration.cts (#912)
`loadConfig` in configuration.cts was superseded by config-loader.cts
(ADR-857 phase 2e, #885). Exhaustive grep confirms no caller imports
loadConfig from configuration.cjs — all live callers use config-loader.cjs
or the core.cjs back-compat re-export. configuration.cts now provides only
the pure normalization and defaults primitives (normalizeLegacyKeys,
mergeDefaults, migrateOnDisk, CONFIG_DEFAULTS) that config-loader.cts
depends on. Updated CONTEXT.md and docs/INVENTORY.md to reflect the
narrowed module surface.

48cc27bd84 feat(#903): generate Loop Host Contract from workflow markers (ADR-857 phase 3a-impl-2) (#906)
Replace the inline LOOP_HOST_CONTRACT constant in the Capability Registry
generator with a generated-from-workflows contract (ADR-894 §3). The contract
is now derived from inert `<!-- gsd:loop-host ... -->` marker blocks in the five
step workflows, emitted as the committed gsd-core/bin/lib/loop-host-contract.cjs,
and required by gen-capability-registry.cjs — one source of truth, no drift.

Drift guards in gen-loop-host-contract.cjs: per-step point ownership (each step
must declare exactly its canonical loop points), multiple-block + duplicate-key
hard errors, and a word-boundary agent-role cross-check. Contract content is
byte-identical to the former constant; registry-only, nothing wired into the
live loop.

ad754ca6cd feat(#896): Capability Registry generator + UI pilot (ADR-857 phase 3a-impl) (#902)
* feat(#896): Capability Registry generator + UI pilot (ADR-857 phase 3a-impl)

First phase-3 code: the Capability Registry generation pipeline, built against
the ADR-894 contract and NOT wired into the live loop (registry-only, per the
staged-cutover design).

- capabilities/ui/capability.json — the UI pilot (ADR-894 worked example): 2
  skills, 2 agents, 3 config keys, 2 steps + 1 gate, with `when` activation.
- scripts/gen-capability-registry.cjs — --write/--check generator. Hand-rolled
  schema validation (envelope + role-typed feature/runtime bodies + typed
  steps/contributions/gates + when + gate-check variants); cross-capability
  invariants (single ownership; requires exist+acyclic+tier-monotone; config-key
  ownership exclusive, collision-vs-central as a pending-migration warning);
  hooks validated against an inline LOOP_HOST_CONTRACT (3a-impl-2 swaps its
  source to the generated-from-workflows contract); GLOBAL point-ordered
  consumes-satisfiability; materialized byLoopPoint ordering (produces/consumes
  topo-sort); emits gsd-core/bin/lib/capability-registry.cjs (role-partitioned
  indexes + requiresClosure). Prototype-pollution guards (Object.create(null) +
  inline literal key checks) + fragment.path traversal guard.
- gsd-core/bin/lib/capability-registry.cjs — committed generated artifact
  (mirrors package-identity.cjs: script-generated, tracked, linted, regenerated
  on build, drift-tested), wired via the new `gen:capability-registry` build step.
- tests/capability-registry.test.cjs — 72 tests: schema + invariant + hook +
  ordering + adversarial (path-traversal, proto-pollution, runtime body,
  self-consume, cycles, collisions) + committed-file staleness guard.

New-CLI-module checklist (INVENTORY 97->98, MANIFEST, ARCHITECTURE), CONTEXT.md
"Capability Registry" un-[Planned]'d. Nothing wired into install/surface/loop.

Gates: lint, code-review (4 bugs fixed), security-review (path-traversal +
prototype-pollution fixed), codex adversarial-review ×3 (8+ findings fixed,
confirmed sound), clean-build docker 13190 pass / 0 fail.

* fix(#896): CRLF-agnostic --check for capability-registry staleness (Windows)

The committed capability-registry.cjs staleness guard failed on Windows CI only:
git checks out the committed .cjs as CRLF (autocrlf, no .gitattributes) while the
generator emits LF, so the byte-for-byte --check comparison mismatched. Normalize
line endings on both sides of the --check comparison (no .gitattributes change,
no change to the LF the generator writes). Adds a regression test simulating the
Windows CRLF checkout.

185935379a refactor(#888): extract model+effort resolution into model-resolver.cts (#890)
ADR-857 rollout phase 2f — the FINAL core.cts decomposition. Move the model and
effort resolution cluster (resolveModelInternal, resolveModelPolicy,
resolveTierEntry, _resolveRuntimeTier, resolveModelForTier,
resolveGranularityInternal, assertValidGranularityOverride, resolveEffortInternal,
resolveFastModeInternal, resolveEffortForTier, nextEffort + VALID_GRANULARITIES/
VALID_EFFORTS/EFFORT_SET + interfaces) out of core.cts into a new leaf module
src/model-resolver.cts. core.cts re-exports the 13 public symbols (callers in
init/docs/commands unchanged; export= set byte-identical).

Cycle-free: model-resolver imports only leaves (config-loader for loadConfig,
configuration for defaults, model-profiles + model-catalog for the static
tables). Removed 6 now-unused imports from core (verified zero remaining
references, none re-exported).

This completes the god-module decomposition: core.cts 2271 -> 389 lines (~83%),
now a thin re-export spine over seven clean leaves (io, phase-id, roadmap-parser,
core-utils, phase-locator, config-loader, model-resolver).

New-CLI-module checklist done (.gitignore, eslint, INVENTORY 96->97 + row,

a74e71b049 refactor(#885): extract loadConfig cluster into config-loader.cts (#886)
ADR-857 rollout phase 2e — the largest core.cts extraction. Move the
configuration-loading subsystem (loadConfig + _getConfigDefault/
_getNestedConfigDefault/CONFIG_DEFAULTS/_deepMergeConfig, isGitIgnored +
_gitIgnoredCache, _warnUnknownProfileOverrides + RUNTIME_OVERRIDE_TIERS + the
dedup Sets, _resetRuntimeWarningCacheForTests) out of core.cts into a new leaf
module src/config-loader.cts. core.cts re-exports the public surface
(loadConfig, isGitIgnored, CONFIG_DEFAULTS, RUNTIME_OVERRIDE_TIERS,
_resetRuntimeWarningCacheForTests); 12+ callers unchanged.

Cycle-free: config-loader imports only leaves (configuration, config-schema,
planning-workspace, shell-command-projection, core-utils, model-catalog). All
core-internal helpers loadConfig touches moved with it to avoid a cycle. core
keeps CANONICAL_CONFIG_DEFAULTS for its model-resolver functions, which now
resolve loadConfig via the binding — this unblocks the final model-resolver
extraction (2f). core.cts: 1275 -> 792 lines.

Repointed tests/config-field-docs.test.cjs (a docs-parity source check) to read
the CONFIG_DEFAULTS literal from its new home (config-loader.cjs). New-CLI-module
checklist done (.gitignore, eslint, INVENTORY 95->96 + row, manifest,
ARCHITECTURE, CONTEXT.md "Config Loader Module"). Adds tests/config-loader.test.cjs
(27 tests: behavioral + shim-identity + adversarial config fixtures).

Gates: lint, code-review, security-review (prototype-pollution guard confirmed

non-determinism on an unrelated re-exported symbol (findPhaseInternal, from

0a11d361ca feat(#69): nest concrete skills under namespace routers at install (#883)
Emit the 6 gsd-ns-* routers as the only top-level skill bundles and nest
the ~61 concrete skills under <router>/skills/<name>/SKILL.md on runtimes
with confirmed non-recursive skill loaders (claude global, cline, qwen,

tables from Skill-tool dispatch to a Read skills/<name>/SKILL.md pattern.
Recursive/unconfirmed loaders (cursor, codex, copilot, windsurf, codebuddy,
opencode, kilo) keep the flat layout. Completes the v1.40 namespace

Cycle-free: phase-locator depends only on leaves (phase-id for token/name

282f145745 refactor(#877): extract shared low-level utilities into core-utils.cts (#878)
ADR-857 rollout phase 2c. Move 11 shared low-level utilities out of core.cts

filesystem scanning (detectSubRepos, readSubdirectories, getPhaseFileStats,
pathExistsInternal), and small pure helpers (generateSlugInternal,
extractOneLinerFromBody, filterPlanFiles, filterSummaryFiles, timeAgo, and the
private extractCanonicalPlanId). core.cts re-exports the 10 public ones
(callers unchanged); extractCanonicalPlanId stays private (exported from the
leaf for core's fs-search functions).

Cycle-free: core-utils depends only on Node built-ins + already-leafed modules
(phase-id for comparePhaseNum, planning-workspace for findContextMdIn). This is
the shared leaf that unblocks the phase-locator fs-search extraction (2d) —

fa1118afa7 refactor(#870): extract ROADMAP.md parsing into roadmap-parser.cts (#876)
ADR-857 rollout phase 2b. Move the 6 ROADMAP.md-parsing functions
(stripShippedMilestones, extractCurrentMilestone, replaceInCurrentMilestone,
getRoadmapPhaseInternal, getMilestoneInfo, getMilestonePhaseFilter) + their
interfaces out of core.cts into a new leaf module src/roadmap-parser.cts.
core.cts re-exports them (behavior-preserving); ~9 external callers unchanged.

Resolves the parse/write straddle: roadmap.cts (ROADMAP.md mutation) now imports
its 3 parsing helpers from roadmap-parser.cjs directly instead of reaching
through core. roadmap-parser depends only on leaves (phase-id, planning-workspace,
shell-command-projection) — cycle-free, enabled by phase 2a.

New-CLI-module checklist done (.gitignore, eslint, INVENTORY 92->93 + row,
manifest, ARCHITECTURE, CONTEXT.md "Roadmap Parser Module"). Adds
tests/roadmap-parser.test.cjs (46 tests: behavioral + shim-identity +
adversarial ROADMAP.md fixtures).

Adversarial review surfaced a pre-existing fence-blindness bug in
getMilestonePhaseFilter (matches phase headings inside fenced code blocks);
filed as #875 and left for a separate fix (out of scope for this
behavior-preserving extraction). The two fenced-fixture tests characterize the
current behavior with a #875 reference and flip when it's fixed.

Gates: lint, code-review, security-review, codex adversarial-review (0

2988a21c46 refactor(#865): extract pure phase-id helpers from core.cts into phase-id.cts (#868)
ADR-857 rollout phase 2a — the first cut of the core.cts decomposition.
Move the 9 pure phase-id parsing/matching helpers (escapeRegex,
normalizePhaseName, comparePhaseNum, extractPhaseToken, phaseTokenMatches,
phaseMarkdownRegexSource/Exact, getMilestoneFromPhaseId, getPhaseDirFromPhaseId)
out of core.cts into a new leaf module src/phase-id.cts. core.cts re-exports
them (behavior-preserving); its internal callers resolve the destructured

Cycle-safe by design: phase-id depends on nothing in core, so re-export creates
no circular require (the property that made phase-1 io.cts clean). This is the
leaf-first ordering — it unblocks the roadmap-parser extraction (2b), which
imports phaseMarkdownRegexSource.

New-CLI-module checklist: .gitignore, eslint.config.mjs ignores, INVENTORY.md

temp-file spillover helpers (GSD_TEMP_DIR, ensureGsdTempDir, reapStaleTempFiles)
— out of the 2271-line core.cts god-module into a new, small src/io.cts. core.cts
re-exports them so existing consumers are unaffected (behavior-preserving).

Repoint src/profile-pipeline.cts to import output/error/reapStaleTempFiles from
io directly; graphify/intel/audit were verified not to import these symbols. Net:
the leaf feature modules no longer depend on core just for I/O — the enabling

03b467f2e7 docs(#857): ADR-857 Capability system — five-step loop core, features as plug-ins (#858)
Record the final-state architecture: the five-step loop (Discuss → Plan →
Execute → Verify → Ship) plus shared-infrastructure skills are the privileged
host/core; every other feature is a Capability (plug-in) selectable at install
and toggleable after restart, attaching through ~12 Loop Extension Points.

Adds docs/adr/857-capability-system.md (Status: Proposed) capturing the eight
resolved design decisions, the resolved design details (extension points,
contribution merge, declaration shape, runtime descriptor, deferred trust gate),
alternatives, consequences, and a six-phase rollout. Records the new domain
terms in CONTEXT.md: Capability, Capability Registry, Loop Extension Point,
Runtime Capability.

Runtime/CLI support is itself a Capability (role: runtime) — Claude Code, Codex,
Antigravity tier-1; the seam is declarative-over-primitives so third-party CLI
support lands later as an additive loader, no rework.

1b6bd66f2c feat(#770): register Claude Code lifecycle hooks (SubagentStop/Stop/PreCompact/FileChanged) (#821)
* feat(#770): register Claude Code lifecycle hooks (SubagentStop/Stop/PreCompact/FileChanged)

Wire three new context-tracking events (SubagentStop, Stop, PreCompact) to
gsd-context-monitor so context-headroom warnings surface at model-stop and
subagent-finalisation moments — not just on PostToolUse. Add a new
FileChanged hook (gsd-config-reload.js) that hot-reloads .planning/config.json
context mid-session when the user edits it, injecting a config summary as
hookSpecificOutput.additionalContext.  Updates plugin manifest hooks.json,
managed-hooks-registry, installer-migration-report allowlist, and
shell-command-projection cleanup tables. Tests: 21 new assertions in
enh-770-claude-hook-events.test.cjs; enh-788 and issue-766 test suites updated.

PreCompact, and the new FileChanged (gsd-config-reload.js) hook that
hot-reloads .planning/config.json mid-session. Also fixes the changeset
frontmatter (adds type: Added + pr: 821) so docs-lint can consume the
fragment.

* fix(#770): add gsd-config-reload.js to INVENTORY.md and regenerate manifest

The feat commit added hooks/gsd-config-reload.js but did not bump the
Hooks count in docs/INVENTORY.md (14→15) or add the new row, and did not
regenerate docs/INVENTORY-MANIFEST.json. Both inventory-counts and
inventory-manifest-sync tests failed across the full CI matrix.

* fix(#770): make lifecycle-hook tests deterministic on scoped runner

Replace the shared hooks/dist/ ensemble setup (ensureHooksDist /
teardownHooksDist) in the Claude hook tests with per-test isolation:
pre-populate each test's own tmpDir/.claude/hooks/ with stub files and
pass installerMigrations:[] to install() so the first-time-baseline
migration does not remove the stubs before the copy step can run.

Root cause: hooks/dist/ is gitignored and absent on a fresh npm ci.
ensureHooksDist() created it and teardownHooksDist() deleted it, but
with --test-concurrency=4 both test files ran concurrently as separate
Node.js worker processes sharing the same filesystem. One file's
afterEach teardown deleted hooks/dist/ while the other file's install()
was copying from it, producing an ENOENT (reproduced 2/10 runs locally).

The additional issue: even with pre-placed stubs surviving the copy race,
the 000-first-time-baseline migration classified hooks/gsd-*.js as
bundled-gsd-hook artifacts, auto-removed them, and the copy step never
re-ran (hooks/dist/ absent) — leaving contextMonitorFile missing and all
hook registrations silently skipped (the 'got: []' symptom).

Fix: pre-populate targetDir/hooks/ per-test (isolated temp dir) AND pass
installerMigrations:[] so the baseline scan is skipped. The Qwen suites
already used this pattern correctly; the Claude suites are aligned to it.

* fix(#770): ship gsd-config-reload.js by adding it to build-hooks HOOKS_TO_COPY

The #770 feature added hooks/gsd-config-reload.js and registered it in
MANAGED_HOOKS, the installer, INVENTORY, and the test EXPECTED_ALL_HOOKS
list — but never added it to scripts/build-hooks.js HOOKS_TO_COPY. As a
result the hook was never copied into hooks/dist/ during the build, so:

  - the hook would never ship to users (real production bug — the
    FileChanged config-reload feature was dead-on-arrival), and
  - install-minimal-hooks.test.cjs #1755 ("all expected hooks are copied
    from hooks/dist/ to target", ".js hooks are executable after copy",
    "manifest contains .js hook entries") failed on any environment with
    a clean checkout (no pre-existing hooks/dist/): coverage, full test
    macos-22/macos-24, test ubuntu-24.

The failures were masked locally only by a stale hooks/dist/ left from a
prior build (build-hooks copies into dist without clearing it). On CI's
fresh `npm ci` there is no dist, so the omission surfaced.

Fix: add 'gsd-config-reload.js' to HOOKS_TO_COPY so build-hooks stages it
into hooks/dist/ alongside the other JS hooks. Verified by removing
hooks/dist/ and rerunning the full suite green (0 fail).

* fix(#770): make config prototype-pollution beforeEach deterministic on scoped runner

Root cause: the #663 and alert-#26 prototype-pollution describe blocks
seeded .planning/config.json in beforeEach via a bare
runGsdTools('config-ensure-section') whose result was discarded. That
command runs in a spawned gsd-tools child; on the scoped CI lane
(--test-concurrency=4, config.test.cjs scheduled alongside the heavy
install/tarball suites that #770 pulled into the targeted set) the child
can be transiently killed under resource pressure (non-zero exit, empty
stderr — an OS-level kill, not an app error). The swallowed failure left
config.json absent, so the first subtest's readConfig() threw ENOENT
opening <tmp>/.planning/config.json. Only 1 of 4 subtests failed,
confirming a per-invocation transient, not a deterministic miss; the full
suite schedules files differently so config.test.cjs did not collide with
those heavy neighbors → passed there.

Fix: add ensureConfigReady(tmpDir) which retries config-ensure-section on
ANY failure or missing file and throws a clear diagnostic if it still
cannot create config.json, then use it in both prototype-pollution
beforeEach blocks. Setup is now deterministic under load; the #663/alert-#26
security assertions are unchanged.

1040fb792e feat(#777): register Cursor-native hooks (.cursor/hooks.json) for session-start/post-tool parity (#831)
* feat(#777): register Cursor-native hooks (.cursor/hooks.json) for session-start/post-tool parity

- Add gsd-cursor-session-start.js: injects STATE.md presence reminder (or
  new-project nudge) into Cursor sessions via the sessionStart hook event
- Add gsd-cursor-post-tool.js: emits an additional_context nudge when
  write-class tool calls touch .planning/ files (postToolUse hook event)
- Add 'cursor-hooks-json' installSurface to runtime-config-adapter-registry;
  writeCursorHooksJson/reconcileCursorHooksJson write the canonical
  { version: 1, hooks: { sessionStart, postToolUse } } JSON shape with
  idempotent reconciliation that preserves user-owned hook entries
- Hook scripts are copied with /gsd:→gsd- rewrite so installed files
  contain no colon-form slash-command refs (bug-376 invariant)
- 20 new tests in tests/cursor-hooks.test.cjs cover all reconciler paths,
  entry helpers, removal, runtime adapter surface, and hook script behavior
- Update CONTEXT.md, ARCHITECTURE.md, installer-migrations.md, and
  000-first-time-baseline.cts to include Cursor hooks.json surface

* fix(#777): build hooks/dist on demand in bug-376 test for scoped/windows CI

hooks/dist is gitignored and only produced by `npm run build:hooks`.
The CI scoped (ubuntu-latest/node-22) and windows (windows-latest/node-24)
test jobs do NOT run build:hooks before executing tests, so bug-376's
prerequisite suite was failing with "hooks/dist not found" on both legs.

Add ensureHooksDist() helper (mirrors bug-3357 pattern) that builds
hooks/dist on demand in the before() hooks of prerequisite and Suite 3.
Also add ensureHooksDist() call to Suite 3's before() so the snapshot
step is also hermetic.

* feat(#768): pre-populate settings.json permissions.allow/deny for Claude Code

Adds mergeClaudePermissions() to bin/install.js which non-destructively
appends GSD's known-safe tool-call patterns to permissions.allow and
defense-in-depth credential-file patterns to permissions.deny during
Claude Code installs. Merge is idempotent (no duplicates on reinstall)
and additive (existing user entries preserved). Uninstall removes only
the exact GSD-owned entries.

a3aa0ae142 feat(#775): ship a gemini-extension.json extension package (#818)
Add a Gemini CLI extension package so users can install, update, and
remove GSD through Gemini's own extension lifecycle and have it appear in
`gemini extensions list`:

  gemini extensions install https://github.com/open-gsd/gsd-core
  gemini extensions update gsd-core
  gemini extensions uninstall gsd-core
  gemini extensions link /path/to/gsd-core # dev

This mirrors the additive Claude Code plugin manifest (#766): a thin,
version-stamped manifest enforced by an in-repo drift test. The extension
ships the context-file payload (GEMINI.md), loaded into every Gemini
session; slash-command/agent/hook TOML projection into the extension is a
documented follow-up. The manual `npx gsd-core --gemini` installer (which
provides the /gsd:* commands) is unchanged — purely additive, no breaking
change.

- gemini-extension.json: name=binName, version tracks package.json,
  description, contextFileName=GEMINI.md (minimal; no mcpServers — gsd
  ships no MCP server)
- GEMINI.md: Gemini-session context payload
- package.json: add both artifacts to files[] so they publish
- CONTEXT.md: add "Gemini Extension Package" glossary entry
- docs: USER-GUIDE + install-on-your-runtime how-to
- tests/issue-775-gemini-extension.test.cjs: manifest validity, version
  parity with package.json, contextFileName existence, files[] publication

907cd01aa3 fix(#813): apply per-runtime skill path rewrites in applySurface (#817)
* fix(#813): apply per-runtime skill path rewrites in applySurface

applySurface() re-staged skill artifacts but, unlike installRuntimeArtifacts(),
never applied the per-runtime path rewrites. So /gsd:surface
(profile/enable/disable/reset) overwrote installed SKILL.md bodies with the
converter's default ~/.claude paths instead of the install target (pathPrefix),
silently regressing skill path references for every skillsKind runtime until
the next reinstall.

applySurface now mirrors installRuntimeArtifacts: for kind.kind === 'skills' it
derives pathPrefix the same way and applies applyRuntimeContentRewritesInPlace
on the staged dir before syncing.

- bin/install.js: export applyRuntimeContentRewritesInPlace
- runtime-artifact-layout.cts: carry resolved scope on Layout; export
  getInstallExports; type computePathPrefix/applyRuntimeContentRewritesInPlace
  on InstallExports
- surface.cts: lazily derive pathPrefix (only when a skills kind exists) and
  apply the rewrite via the shared getInstallExports accessor — single source of
  truth with install, only skills kinds rewritten (matches install)
- tests: regression test parameterized over cursor + codex asserting
  post-applySurface bodies carry the install pathPrefix, not ~/.claude
- CONTEXT.md: glossary updated for the applySurface rewrite parity + scope seam

* test(#813): normalize configDir prefix to forward slashes for Windows CI

The #813 regression assertion compared skill bodies against a raw
${configDir}/ prefix, but production derives pathPrefix via
path.resolve(configDir).replace(/\\/g, '/'). On Windows, mkdtempSync
returns backslash paths while the rewritten body uses forward slashes,
so the assertion would fail Windows-only (not covered by local gsd-test).
Normalize the expected prefix the same way production does.

7e1112c28f refactor(#56): retire legacy runtime directory helpers into runtime-homes projection (#802)
* refactor(#56): retire legacy runtime directory helpers into runtime-homes projection

Consolidate per-runtime global config-dir resolution onto the single
canonical projection runtime-homes:getGlobalConfigDir. Extend it with the
explicitDir override (CLI --config-dir) and the opencode/kilo
OPENCODE_CONFIG/KILO_CONFIG file-path precedence the installer helpers had,
making it byte-for-behavior equivalent to the old getGlobalDir across all
15 install runtimes.

Delete bin/install.js's getGlobalDir/getOpencodeGlobalDir/getKiloGlobalDir
(and the orphaned local expandTilde), repoint all 9 call-sites, and remove
getGlobalDir from module.exports (net -242 lines in the installer). Migrate
the 5 test importers to the canonical projection; harden default/XDG
assertions against ambient *_CONFIG env vars. getAgentsDir now respects
OPENCODE_CONFIG/KILO_CONFIG consistently with the installer (intentional
convergence). Update CONTEXT.md Installer Module entry.

* feat(#766): distribute gsd-core as a native Claude Code plugin

Add an additive .claude-plugin/plugin.json manifest plus hooks/hooks.json so gsd-core can be installed as a first-class Claude Code plugin (marketplace or zero-friction @skills-dir), with /gsd-core: namespaced commands and lifecycle management — alongside the unchanged npm/file-copy installer.

2f07443119 refactor(#60): make runtime config adapter registry explicit (#795)
* refactor(#60): make runtime config adapter registry explicit

Replace scattered inline `runtime === '...'` config-mutation branching in
bin/install.js with an explicit, typed adapter registry. The new
src/runtime-config-adapter-registry.cts maps each of the 15 supported
runtimes to a config intent { installSurface, writesSharedSettings,
finishPermissionWriter }; install()/finishInstall() dispatch by resolved
intent instead of runtime-name checks (cursor/windsurf/trae collapse to one
profile-marker-only branch).

Behavior-preserving: the same config files are written for the same runtimes
(opencode still writes both settings.json and its permissions; kilo writes
only its permissions; codex minimal-mode and opencode GSD_TEST_MODE guards
unchanged). Unknown runtimes fail loudly via TypeError, with an Object.hasOwn
barrier so prototype-chain keys (__proto__/constructor) also throw rather than
returning a bogus intent. Leads the installer-refactor chain (#58 -> #60 ->
#56), building on ADR-58.

3011b937ad docs(#58): add ADR for Runtime Install Policy Module boundary (#762)
Record the Runtime Install Policy Module decision and ownership
boundary: install policy projects a pure, typed install plan by
composing artifact placements (ADR-3660) and command text (ADR-0009)
plus per-runtime config intentions, with no filesystem IO; runtime
adapters consume the plan and execute concrete file mutations and
format-specific config rendering. Explicitly records what stays
outside the policy module (TOML/JSON/Markdown serialization, merge
semantics, filesystem effects).

Adds the ADR index row in docs/adr/README.md and a glossary entry in
CONTEXT.md. Leads the installer-refactor chain (#58 -> #60 -> #56).

4056d830bc refactor(#651): consolidate verification-status routing into one queryable seam (#755)
* refactor(#651): consolidate verification-status routing into one queryable seam

The passed/gaps_found/human_needed verification status was re-encoded as
bare strings across three prose surfaces (gsd-verifier emits, execute-phase
routes, ship gates), each independently deciding the per-status next action
with no parity coupling — the DEFECT.GENERATIVE-FIX class.

Give the enum one home: src/verification.cts (-> bin/lib/verification.cjs)
exposing `gsd_run query verification.status <phaseDir>` returning a typed
{status, next_action, next_command}. ship.md and execute-phase.md now consume
the query instead of re-deriving the routing in prose; gsd-verifier.md points
at the shared vocabulary as the single emitter (values unchanged).

Also fixes the latent broad-grep status misread (DEFECT.FRONTMATTER-SCALAR-
BROAD-GREP): execute-phase.md read `grep "^status:"` over the whole report, so
a body `status:` line could misroute a valid phase. Extraction is now
frontmatter-scoped in one place. A parity test fails if a verifier status
gains no route. Lands the two CONTEXT.md DEFECT entries captured on the issue.

31edeb1b54 feat(#717): re-base workflow size budget on bytes + document quality rationale (#719)
* feat(#717): re-base workflow size budget on bytes + document quality rationale

Re-base tests/workflow-size-budget.test.cjs from line counts to byte
counts (matches Codex's 32,768-byte project_doc_max_bytes cap; deterministic,
no tokenizer). Tier ceilings: XL=90000, LARGE=54000, DEFAULT=38000, GRACE=3000;
discuss-phase target re-expressed as <30 KB. The #597 tighten-only ratchet and
per-file budget semantics are preserved unchanged — only the unit swaps.

byteCount() uses fs.statSync().size to match `wc -c` (includes trailing
newline), deliberately not lineCount()'s newline-stripping.

Document the context-rot / attention-budget QUALITY rationale (independent of
prompt caching) in the test JSDoc and docs/ARCHITECTURE.md, plus the
Goodhart caveat: the byte budget measures one file, so the real goal is
bounded *loaded* context — eager @-imports game the proxy; legitimate
extraction is lazy. Update CONTEXT.md RULESET.WORKFLOW_SIZE_BUDGET to bytes and
remove a stale duplicate ruleset entry that still said "1800 lines".

Defers the #3182 MVP-mode split (tracked separately): MVP is a cross-cutting
concern woven through plan-phase/execute-phase, not a discrete extractable mode.

11afca2968 feat(#656): Research module — content-addressed cache + provider seam + registry-API legitimacy (#664)
* feat(#656): add Research Store module (content-addressed cache, TTL staleness)

Content-addressed research cache behind a clock seam: researchKey (sha256, deterministic), putResearch/getResearch ({hit,stale}, never throws), ttlForSource (curated HIGH 30d / MED 7d / web LOW 1d), two-tier resolveStorePath (curated -> ~/.gsd/research-cache, web/synthesis -> project .planning/research/.cache). 28 behavioral + property tests; boundary coverage at ttl-1/ttl/ttl+1.

Issue #656. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* feat(#656): add Research Provider module (waterfall + confidence + plan)

Single source of truth for the Balanced provider waterfall (docs Context7->Ref->Jina, web Exa+Tavily, fallback Perplexity/Brave, Firecrawl scrape-only). classifyConfidence stamps HIGH|MEDIUM|LOW by provider (never throws). providerAvailability maps config flags to usable providers. planResearch checks the Research Store (injected seam) and returns cache-hits + a per-question fetch plan, falling through the waterfall to the always-available websearch terminal. 22 behavioral + property tests.

Issue #656. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* feat(#656): add Package Legitimacy module (registry-API verdicts, slopcheck optional)

Replaces the pip-install-or-degrade slopcheck prose gate with code: classifyPackage (pure, never throws) computes OK|SUS|SLOP from tunable thresholds (minAgeDays 30, minWeeklyDownloads 1000, requireRepo). checkPackages queries injectable npm/PyPI/crates registry adapters (real https with 5s timeout, degraded-not-thrown on failure); slopcheck is one optional adapter that can only escalate severity, never degrade to [ASSUMED]. 34 behavioral + property tests; boundary coverage on age and downloads (limit-1/limit/limit+1).

Known follow-up: real npm adapter must add api.npmjs.org last-week downloads fetch (currently null -> unknown-downloads). Issue #656. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* feat(#656): detect Tavily/Ref/Perplexity/Jina provider keys; complete npm downloads adapter

config: add tavily_search/ref_search/perplexity/jina availability flags (env var or ~/.gsd/<x>_api_key), mirroring brave_search/exa_search/firecrawl, so the Research Provider waterfall can gate them. package-legitimacy: real npm adapter now fetches api.npmjs.org last-week downloads (bounded, degraded-not-thrown) so weeklyDownloads is populated. +12 config tests; 34 legitimacy tests unchanged.

Commands skip .planning root resolution and appear in top-level usage. 5 behavioral runGsdTools tests; command-contract unchanged (335).

* fix(#656): harden package legitimacy per review (W1/W2/I3/I4)

W1: httpsGet now reads statusCode; npm/PyPI/crates map 404 -> exists:false -> SLOP (registry-existence is the #1 slopsquatting defense; previously only npm caught it). Transport made injectable (_setHttpGet) for hermetic 404 tests. W2: suspicious-postinstall is now terminal SLOP independent of the optional slopcheck adapter, and the regex drops the bare https?:// arm (over-fired on esbuild/sharp/node-gyp) for shell-exec/download-exec signatures only. I3: checkPackages now threads version to registry.lookup and adapters verify that specific version exists. I4: moreServerVerdict -> moreSevereVerdict. +11 regression tests (all RED-first); 45 total green.

* fix(#656): research-store tier coherence + freshness + version TTL (W4/I1/I2/I4)

I1: tier now derives from source (curated -> user ~/.gsd, else -> project .planning), not kind, so put-tier and get-tier can't diverge; kind is a key component only. W4: getResearch searches both tiers and returns the freshest (non-stale preferred), never letting a stale curated entry shadow a fresh web one; blank version caps TTL at 1 day (no 30d on version-blind keys). I2: atomic platformWriteSync instead of raw fs.writeFileSync on the shared global path. I4: dropped the dead ttlForSource arm. CLI get now searches both tiers. +5 RED-first regression tests; 38 green.

* fix(#656): expose classifyConfidence as a CLI route, killing dead code (W3)

Adds 'gsd-tools query classify-confidence --provider X [--verified]' so research agents get the confidence tier FROM CODE (provider waterfall + verification lever) instead of asserting it in prose. classifyConfidence previously had no runtime caller. HIGH means 'trusted provider'; --verified raises web results to MEDIUM (verification semantics documented in ADR-0656). +4 behavioral tests.

Addresses review by @davesienkowski on #664 (W3). Issue #656. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(#656): close Codex adversarial-review findings (path-traversal, version-age, malformed-cache)

HIGH: research key must be 64-hex sha256 (isValidResearchKey) + resolved-path containment check in put/get + CLI validation -> blocks '../../x' arbitrary-file-write. HIGH: package legitimacy now derives publishedAt from the REQUESTED version (npm time[version], PyPI releases[version] upload_time, crates versions[].created_at) so a new malicious version of an old package can't inherit old age and evade 'too-new'. MEDIUM: getResearch validates entry shape (finite fetched_at + positive ttl + required fields) -> malformed cache entry is a miss, not fresh-forever. +regression tests (RED-first); 111 green.

Codex adversarial review (required pre-PR gate). Issue #656. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(#656): close code-review correctness findings

(1) package-legitimacy CLI now rejects unknown --flags instead of silently consuming the following package as a flag value; only --ecosystem takes a value. (2) crates recent_downloads (90-day) normalized to a weekly figure before the minWeeklyDownloads threshold (was ~13x too lenient). (3) research-plan --input validates parsed JSON is an object with an Array questions before destructuring -> clean usage error instead of an uncaught TypeError on null/bad input. (4) research-store put rejects a flag value that is itself a --flag (no more storing '--source' as content). (5) planResearch skips questions whose text is not a non-empty string instead of emitting question:undefined. +13 RED-first regression tests; 143 green.

* refactor(#657): extract researcher documentation_lookup to shared @-reference

6 researcher agents carried a near-duplicate <documentation_lookup> block; consolidate into gsd-core/references/research-documentation-lookup.md (@-included). Unifies the ctx7 CLI fallback to the safer 'command -v ctx7' guard (drops silent 'npx --yes ctx7@latest' execution in 5 agents). Behavior-preserving dedup; inventory 63->64 references. Phase A of the agent collapse.

Issue #657. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* refactor(#657): extract researcher philosophy + verification-protocol to shared @-references

philosophy and the pitfalls+pre-submission-checklist common-core were near-duplicated in project/phase researchers; consolidate into gsd-core/references/research-{philosophy,verification-protocol}.md (@-included). phase-researcher keeps its 3 extra checklist items inline. Pre-submission domains checklist made agent-agnostic so project-researcher doesn't lose features/architecture coverage. Write-contract intentionally left inline (bug-214 tests assert it verbatim). Inventory 64->66 refs. Behavior-preserving. Phase A.

Issue #657. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* feat(#657): wire gsd-phase-researcher to the Research seam (Phase B / S1)

The phase researcher now CALLS the code seam instead of carrying inline mechanics: provider waterfall -> 'gsd-tools query research-plan' (+ research-store put to cache digests); confidence-tier prose -> 'gsd-tools query classify-confidence'; slopcheck pip-install protocol -> 'gsd-tools query package-legitimacy check'. This makes the Research module a real runtime consumer (validates the seam end-to-end, addresses reviewer S1) and removes the duplicated waterfall/confidence/slopcheck prose. RESEARCH.md output contract, commit step, structured returns, and Phase-A @-includes unchanged. package-legitimacy-gate.test.cjs rewritten prose-grep -> behavioral (asserts the seam invocation).

Issue #657. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* feat(#657): wire gsd-project-researcher to the seam + add tavily/ref/jina MCP tools (Phase C.1)

project-researcher now calls gsd-tools query research-plan / classify-confidence (+ research-store put) instead of the inline provider waterfall + confidence-tier prose (mirrors the phase-researcher rewire; no package-legitimacy — phase-only). Output contract (STACK/FEATURES/ARCHITECTURE/PITFALLS/SUMMARY.md + sections, no-commit, structured returns, Phase-A @-includes) unchanged. Adds mcp__tavily/ref/jina__* to the project/phase/ui researcher tools frontmatter (Balanced provider set) so install.js MCP mapping (C.2) has a consumer.

Issue #657. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* test(#657): cover tavily/ref/jina MCP install handling + frontmatter parity guard (Phase C.2)

Investigation: exa/firecrawl have no explicit per-runtime tool-mapping — every mcp__<server>__* except context7 rides the generic passthrough (Copilot lowercases; OpenCode/Cursor/Windsurf/Augment keep as-is; Gemini auto-discovers). tavily/ref/jina are handled identically, no install path broken. Added 12 copilot-install passthrough tests + a mcp-tool-inheritance parity guard (tavily co-declared with exa, jina with firecrawl, ref present across the 3 web researchers) so the MCP set can't drift. No io.github registry ids invented (none sourceable in-repo); documented as a follow-up. 488 tests green.

Issue #657. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* feat(#657): profiles as source of truth for researcher agents + drift-guard (Phase C.3)

scripts/research-profiles.cjs declares each of the 7 researcher agents' identity + contract (name, description, color, tools, required @-includes, required gsd-tools seam calls, output-contract markers). scripts/gen-research-agents.cjs --check validates every committed agent against its profile; --write regenerates ONLY the frontmatter from profiles (body untouched) and is a verified no-op against the current agents (zero diff = fidelity). tests/research-agent-profiles.test.cjs is the DEFECT.GENERATIVE-FIX drift guard. Design note: profiles govern the generatable/contract surface rather than destructively regenerating the disparate operational prose bodies (those were deduped via @-includes in Phase A). scripts/ is not inventoried (no inventory change).

Issue #657. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(#657): complete agent provider-dispatch + parity guard; align legitimacy field; validate profiles

Adversarial-review findings: (HIGH) the seam-wired agents' Step-C dispatch only mapped 6 providers, so a planResearch result of jina/ref/perplexity/brave (reachable via the waterfall fallbacks) had no handling -> agent stall; completed both agents' dispatch to all 9 PROVIDER_WATERFALL ids + a catch-all, and added a parity test asserting agent dispatch stays in sync with research-provider PROVIDER_WATERFALL (DEFECT.GENERATIVE-FIX). (MEDIUM) phase-researcher package-legitimacy JSON example used 'package' but the module returns 'name' -> aligned. (LOW) gen-research-agents checkAgent now returns a clear failure for a malformed profile instead of throwing. +parity/validation tests (RED-first).

Issue #657. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(#656): make classifyConfidence verification-evidence-driven (W3)

Confidence conflated provider authority with claim verification — context7/ref
stamped HIGH purely by provider identity, and the only verification lever was a
self-set --verified flag. Split into two axes: provider authority (static) +
verification evidence (code-computed). HIGH now requires ground-truth
corroboration (legitimacyVerdict OK), independent of provider; authority alone
caps at MEDIUM; SLOP caps at LOW; the self-reported --verified is demoted to a
MEDIUM-only web lever. HIGH = corroborated-against-authoritative-source, not a
correctness guarantee. Adds --legitimacy-verdict to the classify-confidence CLI;
updates CONTEXT.md predicate + ADR-0656 (tier set unchanged, ADR-consistent).

Addresses davesienkowski's W3 review on #664.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(#656): bind classify-confidence verdict to code, closing CLI self-grading

Adversarial review found the new --legitimacy-verdict flag was caller-supplied,
so an agent could self-assert OK->HIGH without any real legitimacy check —
reintroducing the exact self-grading hole W3 closes. Remove the free flag; the
CLI now computes the verdict via checkPackages only when --package/--ecosystem
is given (code-computed, not agent-asserted). Update the stale CLI test
(context7 alone -> MEDIUM) and extend the property test to vary legitimacyVerdict.

463cffd894 chore(#604): rename get-shit-done/ runtime directory to gsd-core/ (#615)
* chore(#604): rename get-shit-done/ runtime directory to gsd-core/

Renames the installed runtime directory `get-shit-done/` to `gsd-core/` so the
on-disk name matches the package (`@opengsd/gsd-core`), repo, and binary
(`gsd-tools`). The npm package name and binary are unchanged; npx/npm consumers
are unaffected.

Mechanical (bulk, ~90% of the diff):
- `git mv get-shit-done gsd-core`
- Swept path/identifier references across the repo via
  `perl -pe 's/get-shit-done(?!-\w)/gsd-core/g'`. The negative lookahead
  preserves the five legitimate slug variants that are NOT the directory:
  get-shit-done-{OLD,cc,classic,cli,redux} (old package/repo names).
- Build/manifest wiring: package.json (bin, files, coverage globs),
  tsconfig.build.json (outDir), ~86 .gitignore build-output entries,
  stryker.config.mjs, scan-ignore files, install.js path strings.
- Frozen (not rewritten): CHANGELOG.md history; translated docs
  (README.<locale>.md and docs/{ja-JP,ko-KR,pt-BR,zh-CN}/).

New logic (review here):
- src/installer-migrations/003-rename-get-shit-done-to-gsd-core.cts: a proper
  ADR-0008 installer migration. On upgrade it walks the legacy
  `~/.claude/get-shit-done/` tree, classifies each file via the prior install
  manifest, and emits remove-managed / backup-and-remove for managed files
  while PRESERVING unknown user-added files. Symlink-safe (skips a symlinked
  root and symlinked entries; bounds-checks every path under configDir). The
  framework rolls back on install failure. Emptied dirs may remain (framework
  has no recursive dir-removal primitive) — documented.
- scripts/lint-legacy-dir-name.cjs: CI regression guard forbidding the bare
  `get-shit-done` directory token (split token to avoid self-match; case-
  insensitive; `(?!-\w)` lookahead allows the slug variants; allowlists
  CHANGELOG, translated docs, and `gsd-allow-legacy-name` marker lines).
  Wired into the lint-tests CI job.
- Restored scripts/lint-package-identity-drift.cjs detection regexes (the
  mechanical sweep had wrongly rewritten the old-name patterns it exists to
  detect) and marked them as intentional legacy references.
- TDD tests for the migration and the guard; do.md slash-command guard regex
  tightened so a `/gsd-core/bin` path segment is not mistaken for a command;
  changeset + docs/installer-migrations.md row added.

Breaking: the installed runtime path moves `~/.claude/get-shit-done/` ->
`~/.claude/gsd-core/`. Migration 003 removes the stale legacy dir's managed
files (preserving user files) on upgrade. Users with custom hooks/configs
hardcoding the old path must update them.

Closes #604

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(#604): unsweep pending changesets + allowlist injection-example docs

CI fixes for the rename PR:
- Do not sweep pending .changeset/*.md (ephemeral release-note fragments,
  like CHANGELOG); reverted those body edits so 5 pre-existing malformed
  fragments (missing type/pr) no longer enter the PR diff and trip docs-lint.
  Allowlisted .changeset/ in the legacy-name guard accordingly.
- Allowlisted TEST-EXAMPLES.md and docs/explanation/security-model.md in
  prompt-injection-scan.sh: they contain intentional injection examples /
  security-model prose; the path-reference rewrites are kept.

CodeQL alerts on this PR are pre-existing (alert lines unchanged by this PR;
none in the new migration/guard) and are out of scope for the rename.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(#604): resolve CodeQL alerts surfaced on this PR

The rename diff touched files carrying pre-existing CodeQL findings; per the
no-pre-existing-dismissal rule, fixing every surfaced alert rather than waving
them off. All behavior-preserving:

- scripts/ci-test-scope.cjs: build the config-path match from string
  .includes() instead of a RegExp over an arg-derived value (js/regex-injection).
- src/profile-output.cts: escape backslashes before pipe-escaping desc/safeName
  so the table-cell escape is complete (js/incomplete-sanitization).
- tests/{bug-2643,bug-2808,docs-parity-live-registry}: two-pass HTML-comment
  strip so a bare/unclosed `<!--` cannot survive (js/incomplete-multi-character-sanitization).
- tests/inline-plan-threshold: drop the no-op `\s`->`\s` identity replace,
  keep the meaningful POSIX-class conversion (js/identity-replacement).

Verified: build:lib green; the touched test files + ci-test-scope + profile-output
suites pass; lint:legacy-name clean.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(#604): correctly resolve remaining CodeQL alerts (regex-injection + sanitization)

The prior commit's fixes for two alerts were ineffective:
- ci-test-scope.cjs js/regex-injection: the alert is the CLI-arg-derived `file`
  reaching static regex `.test(file)` calls (not the config rule). Removed ALL
  regex over file/t — startsWith/includes/=== string checks + an isWindowsHint
  helper — so there is no regex sink for the tainted value.
- js/incomplete-multi-character-sanitization (3 test files): a single
  `.replace(/<!--...-->/g,'')` can let `<!--` re-form. Replaced with a fixpoint
  loop (replace until stable) plus a final bare-opener strip.

Verified: no regex over file/t remains; ci-test-scope + the 3 test suites pass;
lint:legacy-name clean.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(#604): make ci-test-scope + comment-strippers regex-free to clear CodeQL

CodeQL flags the regex PATTERNS syntactically (regex-injection on the
--files arg split; incomplete-multi-character-sanitization on the <!--...-->
replace), so loop fixes do not satisfy it. Made these paths regex-free:
- ci-test-scope.cjs splitFiles: char-by-char separator tokenizer (no /[,\\s]+/).
- 3 test files: indexOf/slice HTML-comment stripper (no .replace(/<!--/)).
Behavior preserved; ci-test-scope + the 3 suites pass; guard clean.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(#604): unblock security base64 scan on the large rename diff

The security job hit its 10m timeout: base64-scan.sh choked on the binary
test fixture tests/feat-3594-parser-property-style.test.cjs (embedded NUL/
non-UTF8 bytes -> thousands of bogus blobs + "ignored null byte" warnings),
and the ~800-file rename diff is slow to scan regardless.

- scripts/base64-scan.sh: skip binary-by-content files (grep -Iq .) — they
  can't carry base64-obfuscated *text* and feeding NUL bytes through the
  per-line scanner is pathologically slow. collect_files already filtered
  binary *extensions*; this catches binary *content* in text extensions.
- .github/workflows/security-scan.yml: raise the security job timeout 10m->30m
  to accommodate very large diffs (the scan itself is unchanged).

Verified locally: scan skips the fixture, 0 "ignored null byte" warnings,
0 findings, exit 0.

* fix(#604): sweep get-shit-done refs introduced by merging next

The branch was updated with next (#614/#384/#618 etc.), which reference the
get-shit-done/ dir (still named that on next). Swept the stale references in
the merged files to gsd-core so the rename stays consistent and lint:legacy-name
passes:
- commands/gsd/discuss-phase.md (runtime-launcher shim paths)
- src/core.cts (getAgentsDir layout comments)
- tests/bug-384-agents-runtime-aware.test.cjs (require path to runtime lib)

Verified: guard 0 violations; build green.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(#604): exclude gsd-core/ path segments from bug-3683 command cross-ref invariant

The #614 runtime-launcher shim added to discuss-phase.md references
`${_GSD_RUNTIME_ROOT}/gsd-core/bin/...`. bug-3683's REF_PATTERN excluded path-y
refs only via lookbehind, but `}` precedes `/gsd-core/` in the shim, so it
mis-read the directory path as a dangling `/gsd-core` command ref (same class as
the #604 bug-2954 fix). Added a trailing `(?![\w-]*\/)` so `/gsd-<x>/...` path
segments are not treated as slash-command references.

Verified locally on BOTH platforms before pushing:
- mac (node 26) full suite: 0 failures
- gsd-test-runner (linux, node22 image) full suite: 0 failures
- bug-3683 + bug-2954 pass.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(#604): lazily resolve findProjectRoot in gsd-tools (harden flaky CI)

CI intermittently failed state.test's gsd-tools subprocess with
"findProjectRoot is not a function" (flip-flopping across legs; not reproducible
on mac full suite, gsd-test linux full suite, test:unit, or state.test x8).
findProjectRoot is a re-export from core.cjs (sourced from project-root.cjs);
binding it via destructure at module-load can be undefined under a load-ordering
edge. Resolve it lazily at call time via a small wrapper so the lookup happens
after core.cjs is fully initialized.

Verified green on BOTH platforms before pushing:
- mac (node 26) full suite: 0 failures
- gsd-test-runner (linux, node22) full suite: 0 failures
- state.test.cjs: 106/106; gsd-tools loads cleanly.

* fix(#604): allowlist verification-patterns.md placeholder examples in secret scan

The rename git-mv'd references/verification-patterns.md into gsd-core/, pulling
it into the secret-scan diff. It documents stub/placeholder RED-FLAG env-var
examples (illustrative Stripe test-key / database-URL / API-key placeholders) —
not real credentials. Added it to .secretscanignore with the strict annotation,
mirroring the existing gsd-core/workflows/plan-phase.md exception.

Verified locally: secret-scan-lint --strict OK; secret-scan --diff origin/next
exits 0 with 0 findings.

79002a00cb chore(#518): rename npm package + bin to @opengsd/gsd-core (#519)
* chore: rename npm package + bin to @opengsd/gsd-core (functional)

- package.json: name @opengsd/get-shit-done-redux → @opengsd/gsd-core,
  bin key get-shit-done-redux → gsd-core, repository/homepage/bugs URLs
- package-lock.json: regenerated (npm install --package-lock-only)
- tests/**, scripts/**, bin/**, .github/**, agents/**, commands/**,
  get-shit-done/bin/**, get-shit-done/workflows/**:
  applied the 4-rule replacement (scoped npm ref, GitHub repo path,
  bin/clone invocations) per #505 single-source refactor

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* docs: sweep live references to @opengsd/gsd-core

Update all live documentation (README.md + translations, docs/**,
CONTRIBUTING.md, VERSIONING.md, SECURITY.md, CONTEXT.md,
docs/CANARY.md) to reflect the renamed package and repository.

Rules applied:
- @opengsd/get-shit-done-redux → @opengsd/gsd-core (scoped npm name)
- open-gsd/get-shit-done-redux → open-gsd/gsd-core (GitHub repo)
- GSD-redux/get-shit-done-redux → open-gsd/gsd-core (stale badge org)
- bare bin/clone refs → gsd-core

CHANGELOG.md, docs/adr/**, docs/RELEASE-*.md, docs/research/**,
and .changeset/** are preserved byte-identical.

* fix: add negative lookbehind to slash-command regex in bug-2954 test

The extractSlashReferences regex matched /gsd-core inside npm package
URLs (@opengsd/gsd-core), producing a false /gsd:core command reference.
Adding a negative lookbehind (?<![a-z]) excludes matches preceded by a
letter, so only standalone /gsd-<cmd> and /gsd:<cmd> tokens are found.

* chore(#518): add changeset for package rename

* test(#518): update package-identity expectations to the renamed coordinates

The rebase regenerated the seam to @opengsd/gsd-core (bin gsd-core, repo
open-gsd/gsd-core). The #498 seam tests assert deriveIdentity against the REAL
package.json, so their expected literals must follow the rename. The drift-lint
unit test is left as-is — its SEAM is a self-consistent fixture and its
stale-literal detection cases would shift if altered; the live-repo scan in it
already passes.

7fd71226b2 chore(#507): retire dead sdk/ references from CONTEXT.md (#508)
ADR-0174 retired the @opengsd/gsd-sdk package; sdk/ no longer exists.
CONTEXT.md still pointed contributors at dead sdk/src/**.ts paths — the
source of the stale references cited in bug reports #500 and #501.

- Glossary: repoint module Source-of-truth/entry-point pointers to the
  live get-shit-done/bin/lib/*.cjs and bin/shared/*.manifest.json homes;
  trim retired SDK-only clauses (milestone runner, SDK native-query
  surfaces, generator pattern). Every replacement path verified on disk.
- Remap live predicates: WORKSTREAM.POINTER.SEAM (-> active-workstream-
  store.cjs), PRED.k320.ci-paths-monitored (-> actual ci-test-scope
  roots), EXEC.CLASSIFY.handler (-> agent-command-router.cjs).
- Remove/generalize obsolete SDK-duality operative rules: SDK-ONLY-VERBS
  (deleted), PORT-DRIFT.cjs-sdk (deleted), SDK-PORT-NAME-COLLISION ->
  NAME-COLLISION (generalized), GENERATIVE exemplar repointed to live
  runtime-launcher-parity.test.cjs, stale-sdk/dist-gen-scripts section
  removed; REMOVED-BUT-NEEDED / SOURCE-GREP / CANARY.detect de-sdk'd.
- Preserve dated SESSION.* log + CANARY.examples audit (history).

Follow-ups for code-side sdk/ cleanup: #504 (lint/stryker config),
#505 (install.js sdk/dist verify), #506 (bin/lib generated banners).

6f2520786d feat(#498): single Package Identity seam for /gsd:update + fix runtime undefined-name bug (#499)
* feat(#498): generated package-identity seam derived from package.json

Introduce a single source for GSD's published-package coordinates:
scripts/generate-package-identity.cjs (pure deriveIdentity + formatManualInstall
+ render) emits the generated get-shit-done/bin/lib/package-identity.cjs with
values baked from package.json at build time. Baking is required because the
installed tree carries only a synthetic {"type":"commonjs"} package.json, so a
runtime require('package.json').name resolves to undefined (#378). Reconciles

Wired into npm run build; a parity test fails CI if the committed file drifts
from package.json.

Refs #498

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(#498): repoint update worker + check-latest-version at the seam

- check-latest-version.cjs sources PACKAGE_NAME from the package-identity seam
  instead of a re-typed literal (single source; #2992's constant guarantee is
  preserved since the seam bakes from package.json).
- gsd-check-update-worker.js no longer does require('../package.json').name
  (resolved to undefined in the installed tree → background update check
  silently broken, #378). It now delegates the latest-version lookup to
  checkLatestVersion(), collapsing the duplicated npm-view call onto the single
  deterministic adapter and inheriting its typed {ok,version,reason} surface.
- Move the PR #3102 Windows shell-gate contract test onto execNpm (where the
  spawn now lives) and assert the worker no longer spawns npm directly.
- Rewrite the #378 contract: worker must NOT use require(package.json).name and
  must delegate; check-latest-version PACKAGE_NAME is single-sourced from the seam.

Fixes #378-class runtime breakage. Refs #498

* chore(#498): changeset for package-identity seam + update-check fix

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* feat(#498): drift-guard lint — value-check GSD coordinate literals against the seam

scripts/lint-package-identity-drift.cjs scans the runtime/code surface
(bin/, hooks/, scripts/, get-shit-done/) and asserts every GSD package name
and GitHub repo slug literal equals the Package Identity seam's current value.
Passes today; fails the moment a repoint isn't propagated (rename package.json,
regenerate the seam, and stale literals are reported until updated). This is
the second adapter that makes the seam real and a repoint mechanically safe.

Enforced via tests/issue-498-identity-drift-lint.test.cjs (scanRepo === [])
under npm test; also exposed as `npm run check:identity-drift`.

* feat(#498): update-context projection — port update.md resolution to a tested seam

Add get-shit-done/bin/lib/update-context.cjs: a pure, injected-fs port of
update.md's ~280-line get_installed_version bash. resolveUpdateContext()
reproduces the full precedence cascade (preferred fast-path -> local probe ->
global probe via env overrides then $HOME -> LOCAL-if-distinct -> scope
cascade -> UNKNOWN) and returns the 4-field contract { installedVersion,
scope, runtime, gsdDir }. The fs is injected so every branch is finally
testable without a live multi-runtime install.

Expose it as `gsd-tools update-context [--config-dir <d>] [--runtime <r>] --json`.
Purely additive — update.md is unchanged in this commit; the workflow swap
follows separately.

Refs #498

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* feat(#498): swap update.md resolution to the update-context projection

Replace ~280 lines of inline runtime/scope/config-dir bash in update.md's
get_installed_version step with a call to `gsd-tools update-context --json`
(60 lines: derive PREFERRED_* from execution_context, resolve gsd-tools.cjs,
parse the 4-field JSON). Behavior is unchanged — the projection reproduces the
same cascade — but the logic is now tested in update-context.cjs instead of
untestable bash-in-markdown.

Relocate the #3608 antigravity-first-class contract onto the projection
(RUNTIME_DIRS order, inferPreferredRuntime, envRuntimeDirs) plus a behavioral
test; keep the execution_context path-classification assertion on update.md.
Re-point install.test's custom-config-dir assertion (kilo.jsonc/KILO_CONFIG)
to update-context.cjs where that detection now lives.

Full root suite: 2022 pass / 0 fail.

* docs(#498): record Update Context Module in CONTEXT.md

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(#498): CI — avoid bare gsd-tools in update.md; register new CLI modules

- update.md update-context invocation: resolve the PATH gsd-tools shim into a
  variable and call "$GSD_TOOLS" (never a bare `gsd-tools` command) — satisfies
  the #2851 workflow-bare-gsd-tools guard.
- Register package-identity.cjs and update-context.cjs in docs/INVENTORY.md
  (CLI Modules 76 -> 78 + rows) and regenerate docs/INVENTORY-MANIFEST.json,
  fixing inventory-counts and inventory-manifest-sync.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* test(#498): make update-context + parity tests OS-agnostic (Windows CI)

Two Windows-only test failures, both test-portability (production code is fine —
the real-fs CLI integration test passed on Windows):

- update-context resolver tests + bug-3608 behavioral test used POSIX path-string
  keys in their fake fs, but the resolver builds lookups via path.join/resolve
  (backslash + drive letter on Windows) → keys never matched → everything
  resolved to UNKNOWN/claude. Normalize fake-fs keys and gsdDir comparisons
  through path.resolve so they match on both platforms.
- package-identity parity test compared render() (LF) to the committed file,
  which Windows git checks out as CRLF (no .gitattributes eol rule). Normalize
  line endings before comparing, matching the repo convention
  (autonomous-decomposition, bug-3707).

* fix(#498): update.md backup must use GSD_DIR (adversarial-review finding)

The get_installed_version rewrite emits GSD_DIR but dropped the probe-loop
variables LOCAL_DIR/GLOBAL_DIR. The backup_custom_files step still read those,
so RUNTIME_DIR went empty for every LOCAL/GLOBAL install and detect-custom-files
was skipped — and since the update then runs a clean install that wipes managed
dirs (commands/gsd, get-shit-done), user-added files could be deleted without
the intended backup.

Set RUNTIME_DIR="$GSD_DIR" directly (the resolved config dir; empty for
UNKNOWN scope, which still skips the backup). Add a structural regression
(tests/issue-498-update-backup-runtime-dir.test.cjs).

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* test(#503): re-point Antigravity .agent detection at the #498 projection

#499 moves the runtime/scope detection cascade out of update.md inline bash
into get-shit-done/bin/lib/update-context.cjs. The #503 regression test asserted
on the inline RUNTIME_DIRS array, which no longer exists, so it would fail
against the projected update.md even though the .agent guarantee is preserved.

Rewrite it to verify the surviving surfaces:
 - behavioral: resolveUpdateContext resolves a LOCAL ./.agent install to the
   antigravity runtime (the original root cause, now covered by adding
   ['antigravity', '.agent'] to the projection RUNTIME_DIRS table)
 - update.md prose classifier still maps /.agent/ -> antigravity
 - the post-update cache-clear for-dir loop still includes .agent

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(#498): finish de-hardcoding consumers + close adversarial-review parity gaps

Restore the consumer de-hardcoding that is the point of the seam, and close the
parity gaps an adversarial review (codex) found in the update-context projection.

De-hardcode the repo slug + install command in the changeset tooling — #516
only single-sourced the package NAME, leaving 'open-gsd/get-shit-done-redux'
hardcoded in scripts/changeset/cli.cjs and github-release-notes.cjs. Route both
through the seam's repoSlug/packageName so a rename is a regenerate, not a hand
edit. The drift-lint real scan now reports zero divergent coordinate literals.

Projection parity vs the old inline bash, as ONE consistent rule
(trustedVersionAt) applied on every path:
 - expand a leading ~/ in preferredConfigDir before the fast path (the bash ran
   expand_home first; a custom --config-dir ~/foo otherwise fell to UNKNOWN)
 - trust a version only when BOTH VERSION and the update.md marker exist — fast
   path AND LOCAL/GLOBAL cascade; a partial dir falls to 0.0.0 keeping scope
 - apply the same same-path dedup to the 0.0.0 fallback so a partial install
   probed from cwd===home is not misdetected as LOCAL

Adds regression tests for tilde expansion, VERSION-only (cascade + fast path),
and the cwd===home partial-install dedup.

a8ff46484b fix(#474): deterministic STATE dates via deepened clock seam (nowIso/today + GSD_NOW_MS adapter) (#477)
* fix(#474): route state date-stamping + installer lock loop through clock seam (nowIso/today + GSD_NOW_MS adapter)

* fix(#474): use process.ppid (not pid 1) as held-lock owner in install-lock timeout test

pid 1 is POSIX init/launchd (always alive) but does not exist on Windows,
so isPidAlive(1) returns false, the lock is reclaimed as stale, and
acquireInstallMigrationLock no longer throws -- failing the timeout
assertion on windows-latest,22. process.ppid is a live, non-self process
on every platform, so the lock is seen as held and the timeout path
throws deterministically cross-platform.

ed1c20061b docs(#456): add testing standards, ADRs 452/456/457, and CONTEXT.md entries (#458)
- docs/adr/452-eslint-lint-harness.md (Accepted): adopt ESLint flat config
  with typescript-eslint, eslint-plugin-n, eslint-plugin-no-only-tests, and
  local AST-rule plugin; retire homegrown scripts/lint-*.cjs regex checkers;
  three test-rigor rules ship at warn, promoted to error after #453 cleanup
- docs/adr/456-test-rigor-architecture.md (Accepted): deterministic-over-racing
  via injectable clock seam + node:test mock.timers; antagonistic tier with
  fast-check + Stryker at 80% threshold; typed-surface mandate; delete-bad-tests
  policy with no-permanent-quarantine
- docs/adr/457-generated-cjs-single-source.md (Proposed): future direction to
  collapse ~59 hand-written bin/lib/*.cjs to TS-generated single source;
  eliminates tsconfig.lint.json stopgap; marked Proposed / not yet executed
- TESTING-STANDARDS.md: orients to existing docs; codifies six test-rigor
  contracts; adds new policies (no-timing-assertion, clock-seam, property-based,
  mutation-score, delete-bad-tests); pairs each with exact ESLint rule names;
  markdownlint-clean (MD040 fences, MD056 table columns)
- CONTEXT.md: adds six RULESET.TESTS.* predicates (no-timing-assertion,
  clock-seam, property-based-testing, mutation-score, delete-bad-tests,
  eslint-harness) and five glossary terms (clock seam, deterministic scheduler,
  property-based test, mutation testing/score, ESLint harness)
- docs/adr/README.md: adds index rows for ADRs 452, 456, 457
