enh(#2876): retire the dead and pass-through exports from bin/install.js (#3615)
* enh(#2876): retire the dead and pass-through exports from bin/install.js The installer exported 197 names and had zero production consumers - every non-test require of it repo-wide sits inside a comment. Its interface was shaped by test access, not by callers. Removes 9 dead exports and 61 pass-throughs, repointing their tests onto the extracted modules' own interfaces. 197 down to 127. Every count in the issue was wrong: 197 exports not 188, 9 dead not 12, 61 pass-throughs not 49, 44 test files not 42 - and the audit itself then missed 7 more consumer files. restoreUserArtifacts was on the dead list but ceased to exist in phase 6, and two _GSD_EFFORT_MANIFEST_* names listed as dead are now genuinely asserted, so acting on that list would have deleted live exports. 7 of the 9 dead names collide with an independent declaration that install.js delegates TO. Each removal was justified by which declaration a reference resolves to, never by whether the name appears somewhere. Coverage parity was the gate rather than test greenness: per-file counts were captured before any edit and diffed after. 44 of 45 files are byte-identical; the single delta is one added assertion, not a loss. The sweep for scattered require sites found two forms static grep misses - require(VARIABLE) and multi-line require() - plus tests asserting that install.js re-exports the SAME object, which now assert retirement instead. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#2876): close review findings — restore the duplicate-body guard, sweep orphaned code Both review engines found real defects in the first cut. The DEFECT.GENERATIVE-FIX single-owner guard from #1511 had been repointed from a reference-identity check to install.X === undefined. Those are not equivalent: the guard exists to catch a duplicate function body reintroduced into install.js, and the replacement passes cleanly if that duplicate is used internally and never exported. It now walks bin/install.js's real top-level bindings, so it catches a duplicate under either shape, exported or not - strictly stronger than the check it replaced. Proved by injecting a duplicate and watching it go red. That weakening survived the coverage-parity gate because the assertion count never moved. The gate compares counts, so an assertion that changes meaning rather than number is invisible to it. Removing the exports had orphaned their wrapper bodies: 14 dead wrappers, 9 consts and 9 destructure entries, several pre-existing and found by the same sweep. Dead code left in the file this phase exists to shrink. Three more comments claimed re-exports this phase removed, and tests were reading Cursor and Windsurf hook constants from install.js's local copy while calling functions from the hooks surface - equal today, with nothing holding them equal. The local consts now reference the owning module. feat(#2100): drive Windsurf through the EoS descriptor + wire Cascade's blocking hook bus (ADR-1239)
Fold all 10 residual isWindsurf branches in bin/install.js onto descriptor-driven hostBehaviors (byte-parity — no fold changes any install output): - 2 dead destructures dropped (uninstall, finishInstall); the dead `else if (isWindsurf)` legacy agent-loop arm removed (windsurf ∈ _DESCRIPTOR_AGENTS_RUNTIMES → unreachable). - skipSharedHooksInstall:true folds the two `!isWindsurf` shared-hooks exclusions. - legacyDevinSkillsCleanup:true folds the `.devin`→`.windsurf` one-time cleanup gate. - installsCommandBodiesForWorkflowDelegation:true folds the #1629 command-body copy (workflow-delegation target — load-bearing; local-install verified intact). - verificationStyle:"windsurf-workflows" folds the workflow-count report. - Corrected stale _LEGACY_SCAN_SUBDIR_NAMES + hooks-json manifest comments (cursor + windsurf). Zero live runtime==='windsurf'/isWindsurf branches remain across bin/install.js, install-engine.cts, surface.cts, runtime-artifact-conversion.cts (AC2 guard scans all four). UPGRADE (Cascade hook bus): wire GSD's write/command safety guards into Windsurf's native hook bus. New hooksSurface 'windsurf-hooks-json' (VALID_HOOKS_SURFACES 7→8, GATE A profile-marker-only allowlist, the HooksSurface union) + writeWindsurfHooksJson (Cursor-templated, Cascade's flat {hooks:{<event>:[{command}]}} shape) writing .windsurf/hooks.json with two BLOCKING pre-hooks: - pre_write_code → gsd-windsurf-pre-write.js: blocks writes to a file outside the active git worktree / into .git internals. - pre_run_command → gsd-windsurf-pre-command.js: conservative destructive-command deny-list (rm -rf of root/home incl. sudo/env/path-prefixed forms; fork bombs; force-push refspec forms — HEAD:main, +main, --force/-f — to main/master/next). Both use Cascade's protocol (stdin JSON, exit 2 + stderr to block, exit 0 to allow, fail-open on error/timeout). Tokenize-based classifier (no catastrophic-backtracking regex; 4096-char cap) with the fail-closed false-positives fixed post-review. The 4 advisory GSD guards + pre_mcp_tool_use + 5 post_* logging events are deliberately NOT wired: Cascade has no context-injection channel for advisory hooks and GSD has no MCP guard — porting them would be non-functional padding (documented; codebuddy #2098 / copilot #2099 faithful-subset precedent). extendedHookEvents stays []. Golden: the 2 guard scripts ship in the shared hook bundle (HOOKS_TO_COPY + the shared managed-hooks-registry), exactly like cursor's 6 gsd-cursor-*.js scripts — so the 8 shared-bundle runtimes' fixtures gain the 2 inert windsurf scripts + the registry hash (functionally inert for non-windsurf; the established cursor pattern). No install-output change beyond that (the folds are byte-parity; skip-bundle runtimes untouched). New scripts registered in managed-hooks-registry + build-hooks + INVENTORY. Tests: declarative-reference- windsurf (adapter/axes/fail-closed + AC2 guard) + windsurf-hooks-bridge (live exit-2 blocking + allow/fail-open + ReDoS-bound + writer/reconcile/remove idempotency); VALID_HOOKS_SURFACES pin updated to 8. Matrix hookBus delta + changeset (Changed). capability-registry regenerated. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

feat(#2095): migrate Kimi CLI onto EoS imperative adapter + native hook-bus + background dispatch (ADR-1239)
Fold all runtime==='kimi'/isKimi logic branches into descriptor-driven hostBehaviors (localInstallDeferred, verificationStyle, agentManifestStyle, reapplyCommand, doneBannerStyle) + add 'kimi' to _DESCRIPTOR_AGENTS_RUNTIMES. Kimi's skills/kimi-agents dispatch was already descriptor-driven (converter-by- name + kimi-agents kind). Zero isKimi/runtime==='kimi' branches remain. UPGRADE 1 (native hook bus): new hooksSurface 'kimi-hooks-toml' + a marker- delimited config.toml [[hooks]] emitter (buildKimiHooksTomlBlock/writeKimiHooksToml in runtime-hooks-surface.cts; resolveKimiHooksTomlDir in runtime-homes.cts). GSD's lifecycle hooks now wire into Kimi's native ~/.kimi/config.toml (Context7- confirmed path) at SessionStart/PreToolUse/Stop/PreCompact/SubagentStart/ SubagentStop — kimi becomes a hooks/ consumer (the 3 && !isKimi exclusion guards removed). config.toml holds absolute install paths so it's golden-excluded via an exact relative-path (.kimi/config.toml), not a basename (which would blind Codex's config.toml). New hooksSurface value added to the closed enum in capability-validator + runtime-config-adapter-registry. UPGRADE 2 (background dispatch): flip dispatch.backgroundDispatch true (Kimi's Agent tool takes run_in_background; root agent already gets the Agent tool), so negotiation no longer flattens dispatch. subagentToolkit stays 'undocumented' per AC (coder/explore/plan have distinct tool policies). MCP transport explicitly deferred (no installer-driven MCP for any runtime). Golden: only kimi.json changes (hooks/ scripts now installed); all 15 others + claude-local byte-identical (kilo/zcode keep their own exclusions). Tests: kimi-imperative-reference (adapter/axes/fail-closed/hostBehaviors + source-grep guard) + kimi-upgrades (config.toml [[hooks]] SessionStart + marker idempotency + backgroundDispatch negotiation). CONTEXT.md glossary + matrix + how-to updated; changeset (Added). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

refactor(#1067): phase 5f-1b — extract the settings-json hook block (applySettingsJsonHooks) — ADR-857/1016 (#1075)
* refactor(#1067): promote referencesHook to runtime-hooks-surface module scope referencesHook was declared as a local function inside install() but also called in finishInstall() (module scope), meaning JS hoisting was the only thing making it work from finishInstall. Move it to src/runtime-hooks-surface.cts, export it, and have both call sites in install.js use the module's copy. This is the prerequisite for COMMIT 2 (applySettingsJsonHooks extraction) per ADR-857 phase 5f-1b. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(#1067): extract applySettingsJsonHooks to runtime-hooks-surface module ADR-857 phase 5f-1b: move the ~457-line settings.json hook-registration block from install() into applySettingsJsonHooks(settings, opts) in src/runtime-hooks-surface.cts. install() replaces the block with a single call. Behavior-preserving: all runtime=== guards, isGemini/isQwen/isOpencode/isKilo derivations, postToolEvent/preToolEvent dialect branches, idempotency checks, fs.existsSync guards, and console.log/warn messages are verbatim. Opts bag: 13 fields — runtime, isGlobal, targetDir, postToolEvent, updateCheckCommand, contextMonitorCommand, promptGuardCommand, readGuardCommand, readInjectionScannerCommand, configReloadCommand, hookOpts, localCmd, localShellCmd. preToolEvent computed inside (from runtime). workflowGuardCommand / worktreePathGuardCommand / validateCommitCommand / graphifyUpdateCommand / sessionStateCommand / phaseBoundaryCommand / contextMonitorFile also computed inside. settings.hooks-only mutations confirmed. 5 source-scan tests updated to read runtime-hooks-surface.cts alongside install.js (concatenated), so structural regression guards remain valid at their new canonical location. install.js: 12700 → 12254 lines (−446). refactor(#1059): phase 5f-1 — extract standalone hook-surface writers into a module — ADR-857/1016 (#1064)
* refactor(#1059): phase 5f-1 — extract standalone hook-surface writers into a module Extract the structurally-isolated hook-surface writer functions (cline/cursor/ copilot/codex-hooks-json + buildHookCommand + atomicWriteFileSync + node/bash runner resolvers) out of bin/install.js into a new src/runtime-hooks-surface.cts module (-693 LOC from install.js). Behavior-preserving: install.js requires + re-exports the moved functions (module.exports surface preserved); no descriptor reads, no behavior change. Prerequisite for the descriptor-drive (5f-2), mirroring ADR-3660's artifactLayout extract→drive split. Review caught + fixed 3 coupling issues: (HIGH) the module's atomicWriteFileSync dropped the shared __atomicWrittenTmps temp-tracking → now ONE shared set (module owns it, install.js aliases it, both cleanups read it); (drift) buildHookCommand called resolveNodeRunner(opts) vs the original resolveNodeRunner() → reverted; two source-grep tests (workflow-guard, sh-hook-paths) that scanned install.js for the moved functions → made behavioral/non-vacuous; duplicate runner resolvers consolidated. Settings-json hook block (~648 LOC) deferred to 5f-1b; descriptor-drive to 5f-2. New-module checklist done. ~62 hook test files green; gsd-test 17592/0. Closes #1059 Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com> * chore(#1059): reconcile CLI Modules count after merging next (uat-predicate) Merging current next (which added uat-predicate.cjs via #247) alongside this branch's runtime-hooks-surface.cjs put the filesystem at 107 bin/lib modules, but both sides had independently bumped the INVENTORY headline 105→106 so the merge under-counted. Set "CLI Modules (107 shipped)" + regenerate INVENTORY-MANIFEST.json. Both module rows already present. Fixes inventory-counts.test.cjs (the only CI red). chore: clean up clear-cut ESLint warnings (#732) (#734)
Pay down pre-existing error→warn lint debt. Removes dead imports/vars, unused functions, redundant regex/string escapes, and stale eslint-disable directives; converts unused `catch (_e)` to optional catch binding (src/*.cts). No behavior change. Lint 345→125 warnings (0 errors); deferred categories (n/no-process-exit, test-sleeps, control-regex) tracked in #732 for follow-up. Full test suite green (0 failures); code-review verified all removals unused and all escape fixes semantics-preserving. Closes #732 Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

refactor(tests): retire output-grep & source-grep via typed surfaces (finish #2974) (#462)
* refactor(#455): implement typed surfaces to retire grep tests Production surfaces added: - hooks/managed-hooks-registry.cjs: new CJS module exporting MANAGED_HOOKS as a typed array; gsd-check-update-worker.js now requires it instead of declaring an inline array - bin/install.js: elevate inline gsdHooks to module-level GSD_UNINSTALL_HOOKS, export it alongside runtimeMap/allRuntimes (already exported) - scripts/build-hooks.js: export HOOKS_TO_COPY; guard build() behind require.main===module so tests can require the file without triggering a build - get-shit-done/bin/lib/init.cjs: add --json mode to agent-skills command, emitting typed IR { agent_type, block, skills_count } for test assertions - get-shit-done/bin/gsd-tools.cjs: wire --json flag for agent-skills dispatch Category-B source-grep migrations: - tests/managed-hooks.test.cjs: require MANAGED_HOOKS from registry, drop fs.readFileSync+regex - tests/orphaned-hooks.test.cjs: require MANAGED_HOOKS+HOOKS_TO_COPY as typed exports - tests/hooks-opt-in.test.cjs: replace gsdHooks regex-parse with GSD_UNINSTALL_HOOKS import - tests/install-minimal-hooks.test.cjs: replace gsdHooks regex-parse with GSD_UNINSTALL_HOOKS - tests/copilot-install.test.cjs: replace src.includes() checks with typed assertions on runtimeMap, allRuntimes, parseRuntimeInput, buildRuntimePromptText - tests/agent-skills.test.cjs: migrate to --json typed IR assertions pending-migration-to-typed-ir token cleared (87 of 87 files): - 78 files already had source-text-is-the-product; removed duplicate token - 5 files already used typed assertions; reclassified or annotated - 4 files required individual reclassification to source-text-is-the-product or architectural-invariant Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#455): update workflow-guard test to typed GSD_UNINSTALL_HOOKS import; isolate HOME in runtime-launcher (D) test Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#455): guard install.js main() behind require.main===module so the typed export is require-safe Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * docs(#455): document --json typed surfaces for agent-skills, progress, validate context Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * docs(#455): add changeset fragment for new --json surfaces Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#455): complete grep migration for files flagged by lint-tests The branch commit 4e630d99 stripped `allow-test-rule: pending-migration-to-typed-ir` from ~80 test files without replacing their assertions or adding the correct exemption annotation. The files were NOT source-grep tests — they read .md workflow/agent/command/reference files (source-text-is-the-product) or hook source files for structural invariants (structural-regression-guard). No assertion logic was changed; only the correct allow-test-rule annotation was added to each file per CONTRIBUTING.md exception matrix. 73 files: `source-text-is-the-product` — workflow/agent/command/reference .md 7 files: `structural-regression-guard` — hook .js / bin/install.js structural checks Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> --------- Co-authored-by: CI Rebase Check <ci@gsd-redux> Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> |

feat(#2982): extend no-source-grep lint to catch var-binding readFileSync.includes() (#2985)
* feat(#2982): extend no-source-grep lint to catch var-binding readFileSync.includes() The base lint (scripts/lint-no-source-grep.cjs) only catches readFileSync(...).<text-method>() chained directly. The much more common var-binding form escapes it: const src = fs.readFileSync(p, 'utf8'); // 50 lines later if (src.includes('foo')) {} // ← still grep, lint missed it Scan of the test suite found ~141 files using this pattern. Implementation built TDD per #2982 with structured-IR assertions: scripts/lint-no-source-grep-extras.cjs - detectVarBindingViolations(src) — pure detector, two passes: pass 1 collects vars bound from readFileSync, pass 2 finds any <var>.<includes|startsWith|endsWith|match|search>( on those vars. - detectWrappedAssertOkMatch(src) — flags assert.ok(<expr>.match(...)) which escapes the assert.match rule. - VIOLATION enum exposes stable codes for tests to assert on. scripts/lint-no-source-grep.cjs - Wires the new detectors into the existing per-file check; one additional violation row per file with the first 3 sample tokens. tests/bug-2982-lint-var-binding.test.cjs - 13 tests, all assertions on typed VIOLATION enum / structured records. Covers all 5 text-match methods, multi-var, no-bind, string literal (must NOT trigger), wrapped assert.ok(.match), and assert.match (must NOT double-flag). Migration backlog (#2974 expanded scope): - 42 files annotated `// allow-test-rule: source-text-is-the-product` (legitimate — they read .md/.json/.yml files whose deployed text IS the product) - 3 files annotated `// allow-test-rule: pending-migration-to-typed-ir [#2974]` (read .cjs/.js source — clear migration debt) - 95 files annotated `pending-migration-to-typed-ir [#2974]` with `Per-file review may reclassify as source-text-is-the-product during migration` (mixed — manual review under #2974) After this lands the lint reports 0 violations on main; new violations in PRs surface immediately. Closes #2982 Refs #2974 * test(#2982): fix truncated test name per CR The label ended with a bare '(' from a copy-paste mishap. Now reads 'does NOT flag .matchAll(...) — matchAll is not match, so assert.ok(.matchAll(...)) is not flagged'. * chore(#2982): add changeset fragment for PR #2985 * chore(#2982): add changeset fragment for PR #2985 |

fix: register gsd-workflow-guard.js in settings.json during install (#1772)
The hook was built, copied to hooks/dist/, and installed to disk — but never registered as a PreToolUse entry in settings.json, making the hooks.workflow_guard config flag permanently inert. Adds the registration block following the same pattern as the other community hooks (prompt-guard, read-guard, validate-commit, etc.). Includes regression test that verifies every JS hook in gsdHooks has a corresponding command construction and registration block. Fixes #1767 Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> |
