Mechanical rename produced by scripts/msd-rename.cjs: gsd/Gsd/GSD -> msd/Msd/MSD across contents and paths, upstream package/repo coordinates -> @golem15/msd-core and golem15com/msd-core. Deep links into upstream history, sibling upstream packages, the GSD-2 import feature, CHANGELOG.md and .changeset/ are kept as-is. Hand edits on top: MSD block-letter banner and logos, LICENSE copyright line, package/plugin identity, regenerated lockfile, install-tree fixtures, derived registries and benchmark baseline; migration checksum baseline re-locked (MSD keeps its own install state, so no install had applied the old sums); sort-order and regex-escaped expectations in tests adjusted.

// The workflow-wiring blocks read msd-core/workflows/update.md and assert on

// its text. That text IS the deployed contract — the runtime loads the .md and
// follows it — so there is no behavioral seam beneath it to assert on instead.

* MSD Tools Tests — update workflow custom file backup detection (#1997)
*
* The update workflow must detect user-added files inside MSD-managed
* directories (msd-core/, agents/, commands/msd/, hooks/) before the
* installer wipes those directories.
*
* This tests the `detect-custom-files` subcommand of msd-tools.cjs, which is
* the correct fix for the bash path-stripping failure described in #1997.
*
* The bash pattern `${filepath#$RUNTIME_DIR/}` is unreliable because
* $RUNTIME_DIR may not be set and the stripped relative path may not match
* manifest key format. Moving the logic into msd-tools.cjs eliminates the
* shell variable expansion failure entirely.
*
* Closes: #1997

* `backup_custom_files` copies user-added files into `msd-user-files-backup/`

* and then stops — nothing in the toolchain ever reads that directory back
* (`/msd:update --reapply` is scoped to `msd-local-patches/`, the *modified

* shipped file* bucket). `restore-custom-files` is the missing counterpart:

* it plans a restore, runs a best-effort compatibility pass against the

* NEWLY INSTALLED release, and — only under `--apply` — copies files back.
*
* Contract invariants asserted here:
* - the backup is never deleted, whatever the outcome
* - a backup entry never overwrites a file the new release ships
* - a backup entry never overwrites a differing file already on disk
* - one unwritable entry does not abort the rest of the restore
* - nothing is ever written outside the config dir
*
* Assertions read the frozen `outcome` / `warning code` tokens emitted through
* `--json`, never the human-readable console prose (CONTRIBUTING.md →
* "Prohibited: Raw Text Matching on Test Outputs").
