chore(#3212): bounded quantifiers over document content — prohibition with teeth — Phase 4 (#3441)
* feat(#3415): ship local/no-unbounded-quantifier, burn down ReDoS class Phase 4 of epic #3212 (ADR-3212 §5/§7, the final phase). New rule flags an unbounded */+/{n,} quantifier over a broad character class ([\s\S], dotAll ., or a 1-2-unit negated class like [^\n]/[^)\n] — the exact #2128-fixed shape) applied to a regex whose match target is data-flow-traced to readFileSync content. eslint-rules/lib/readfilesync-trace.cjs extracts the data-flow tracer shared with no-crlf-fragile-split (Phase 2) rather than a second copy — no-crlf-fragile-split refactored onto it with zero behavior change, parity-tested. Real triage, not 798 mechanical edits: the ADR's census (2026-08-08) screened every unbounded quantifier in the tree unscoped. Correctly scoped to readFileSync-derived content (matching Phase 2's own G2/G3 scoping), the rule found 162 real hits across two detection waves — the second wave (93) surfaced only after a genuine off-by-one bug in this rule's own first draft was caught while writing its RuleTester tests and fixed (the bug silently missed every directly-quantified [\s\S]* with no gap before the quantifier — exactly the class this rule exists to catch). 3 hits landed in production src/ (commands.cts, milestone.cts, roadmap.cts) and were each empirically timed against adversarial input (matching #2128's own measured-not-assumed precedent) — all confirmed linear-time/benign, left unbounded with a measured-evidence comment rather than mechanically bounded. The remaining 159 are test-file fixture parsing (test-author-controlled, fixed-size content, not adversarial input) — each suppressed with a specific, non-generic reason. Zero functional behavior changed anywhere in this diff. tests/no-pending-3212-markers.test.cjs locks the epic's own closing invariant (ADR §7: "assert zero pending #3212 markers remain") — ground truth confirmed trivially true today (no phase left any such marker behind), now regression-locked going forward. Design: .gsd/phase/chore-3415-prohibition-with-teeth/40-design.md Test matrix: .gsd/phase/chore-3415-prohibition-with-teeth/50-test-matrix.md Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#3415): correct rule category mislabel, add CI test-scope entry An orthogonal Standards-axis review found eslint-rules/no-unbounded-quantifier.cjs mistakenly carried meta.docs.category: 'Portability', copied from a sibling rule without realizing what that implied: docs/contributing/cross-platform- portability-rules.md governs an ADR-1703 rule family under a hard "zero escape hatches" contract (tests/portability-rule-disable-ban.test.cjs's PROTECTED_RULES bans eslint-disable for those rules entirely). This rule is not part of that family — it's ADR-3212 (ReDoS/CWE-1333), a different epic — and its eslint-disable-next-line suppressions (159 of them, added earlier this same phase after empirical benign-verification) are an intentional, correct design, not a bypass. Corrected to category: 'Best Practices', matching the actual precedent (no-adhoc-regex-escape.cjs, Phase 1 of the same epic, which is also correctly outside PROTECTED_RULES), and the rule's own docstring now states this explicitly so a future reader doesn't have to re-derive it. Also registers a new scripts/ci-test-scope.cjs bucket so editing this rule or the shared eslint-rules/lib/readfilesync-trace.cjs helper re-runs their own test suites under targeted CI selection — was previously unregistered and invisible to that fast-path (this PR's own gsd-test checkpoint runs the full suite regardless, so this only affects future narrowly-scoped PRs). Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#3415): bound no-unbounded-quantifier's own scanner (CWE-1333, ironic) Security review found the rule meant to catch algorithmic-complexity bugs had one of its own: hasUnboundedBroadQuantifier's negated-class inner scan walked from each `[^` occurrence to the next `]` (or EOF) with no bound, while the outer loop only ever advanced by one character — O(n²) total work on a pattern with many unclosed `[^` runs. Runs unconditionally inside checkPattern on any `new RegExp('literal string')` argument in any linted file, before the (cheap) readFileSync data-flow gate — so a single crafted string literal, no valid regex syntax required, could make `npm run lint` / CI hang. Empirically confirmed both the bug and the fix: pre-fix, n=4000/8000/ 16000/32000 chars took 30.8/115.6/463.8/1874.3ms (~4x work per 2x n, quadratic); extrapolated, the 300000-char repro from the finding would run ~165s. Post-fix (bail the inner scan once units exceeds the rule's own 1-2-unit scope, rather than continuing to hunt for a closing `]`), the same 300000-char input runs in 8.7ms via the real rule module, independently reconfirmed at 18ms via a fresh Linter.verify() call. New regression row in tests/no-unbounded-quantifier.rule.test.cjs asserts the RuleTester run on a 50000-char adversarial pattern completes and returns a defined result — no wall-clock assertion (CLAUDE.md Clock Seams / local/no-elapsed-assertion). Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#3415): triage 3 new sites, re-raise ceiling after upstream batch next merged 12 more PRs during this PR's review. Two consequences: - tests/edit-phase.test.cjs (fix #3262, unrelated) added 3 new content.match(/<tag>([\s\S]*?)<\/tag>/) reads of this repo's own workflow .md content — the same Class A pattern as the ~159 sites already triaged elsewhere in this PR. Suppressed with the same established reason. - lint-allow-test-rule-refs' ratchet ceiling needed re-raising again (301 -> 303) for the same reason as the two prior bumps: organic growth from unrelated, already-reviewed PRs landing concurrently, not a defect in this branch's own diff. fix(#3156): sandbox HOME on raw installer spawns — the one leak no scrub reaches
The strict live-config guard this PR ships went red on CI: the suite creates $HOME/.gsd/defaults.json. Diagnosed rather than suppressed, because the guard is right — this is #2665's class arriving through the one door the scrub set is structurally unable to close. bin/install.js writeNonClaudeDefaults() (#2834) writes path.join(os.homedir(), '.gsd', 'defaults.json') for every non-Claude runtime. os.homedir() consults NO GSD variable, so: - no entry in CONFIG_LOCATION_ENV_KEYS can reach it, however the set is derived; and - blanking GSD_HOME does not reach it either -- a blank GSD_HOME falls back to exactly that homedir(). Only a sandboxed HOME contains it, and HOME is deliberately excluded from TEST_ENV_BASE because blanking it would break far more than it fixed. So the containment belongs per-spawn, which is the discipline the suite already applies by hand -- install-minimal-hooks.test.cjs:576 carries a comment naming this exact hazard for the --codex spawn, while the parameterized --${runtime} spawn 130 lines below it does not. Instance fixed, class open. Rather than add a fifth hand-synced env shape to a PR whose subject is that hand-synced copies drift, this adds ONE export -- installSpawnEnv() in tests/helpers.cjs -- and routes every raw installer spawn through it, including the shared tests/helpers/install-shared.cjs installerEnv(), which every install suite already consumes. Callers passing an explicit { HOME, USERPROFILE } are unaffected: overrides spread last. Census (measured, not reasoned): of the 119 test files that spawn bin/install.js, exactly four wrote into a sandboxed $HOME before this commit -- install, copilot-install, install-minimal-hooks, opencode-plugin-adapter -- and zero do after. Only install.test.cjs sits in CI's targeted lane, which is why ubuntu went red on one file while the macOS full lanes went red on four. Attribution: the leak reproduces unchanged at upstream/next itself, so the defect is base-owned and pre-existing; only the detector is new. The guard found a real leak on next within one run. No new failures: the surviving names under a sandboxed HOME (folded:enh-2380-sync-skills, getGlobalConfigDir (Copilot)) fail at base too, and base additionally fails folded:bug-3288-model-catalog-install-path, which this tree does not. |

test(#3145): bound the installer/runtime cluster onto the process seam (#3176)
* test(#3145): bound the installer/runtime cluster onto the process seam Migrates 156 unbounded sync spawn sites across 47 files. Allowlist 120 to 73. Timeouts are sized from evidence already in the tree rather than a house default, because this wave spawns installers rather than git plumbing and an undersized bound does not catch a hang -- it manufactures CI flake, which is worse, since a flake gets re-run instead of investigated. install.test.cjs records a real spawnSync ETIMEDOUT at a 60000ms cap on a loaded bench while another lane passed the same commit in 12.7s, so full installs are bound at 120000ms against that recorded incident. Also adds an auditable escape to the guard's timeout ceiling. The 600000ms cap was set in #3143 from partial evidence, but fragment-single-edit- propagation carries a documented, load-tested 900000ms bound on a run that chains a full build plus eight generators -- the guard would have rejected a correct timeout the moment that file left the allowlist. A value above the ceiling is now permitted only with an inline allow-spawn-timeout-ceiling marker carrying a non-empty reason. It raises the ceiling; it never waives the requirement for a bound, which is asserted directly. install-shared.cjs keeps its hand-rolled assert rather than routing through throwIfFailed: its message embeds both streams, and throwIfFailed carries only a trimmed stderr. The message now also names the outcome, so a bounded timeout reads as such across its 38 importers instead of as expected null to equal 0. * test(#3145): extract class-norm timeouts and correct the build-hooks sizing A pre-PR review found 52 copies of four class-norm timeout constants across this wave. These are not per-suite fixture bindings -- they are shared facts about how long a class of subprocess takes, derived from a recorded bench incident. That norm already moved once (60000 to 120000 after a real ETIMEDOUT), and 52 copies would have drifted the next time it moved. Extracts tests/helpers/timeouts.cjs, where each norm is justified once, and converts the copies. A site that genuinely differs -- a real tsc compile, or regen:derived -- keeps its own local constant with its own justification. Also corrects a misclassification: scripts/build-hooks.js was sized as a build at 120000 in twelve places and 60000 in another, but it compiles and bundles nothing. Its own header says no bundling needed; it copies pre-built files and syntax-checks them with vm. Three different values bounded one script; now there is one. * test(#3145): fix red CI — lint self-match and a Windows chunk overrun Two failures on PR 3176. lint-allow-test-rule-refs read a RuleTester fixture as a real exemption. The fixture exists to prove an unrelated marker does NOT suppress the rule, so it carries that marker's literal text as test data. Split via concatenation, the same idiom no-unbounded-spawn-allowlist.test.cjs already uses for its own self-match problem. The explanatory comment needed the same treatment. The Windows shard 3/3 chunk was killed at its 600000ms budget. Output stopped seven minutes before the kill, so this was an overrun rather than a slow chunk: regenDerivedPropagatesSingleFragmentEditWithNoSecondSourceSurface runs regen:derived bounded at 900000ms, which is larger than the whole chunk budget, so the chunk killer always fires first and it can never complete there. Both the test and that bound predate this change; modifying the file pulled it into the Windows targeted set and exposed it. Skipped on Windows with the reason recorded; the Linux lanes cover it. The 900000 bound and its ceiling marker are unchanged -- they are correct. * test(#3145): refresh the stale test-timings cost table The Windows shard was killed at its 600000ms per-chunk budget. run-tests.cjs packs chunks by measured duration from tests/test-timings.json, and an unknown file falls back to the table's median weight -- advisory by design, but it silently underweights exactly the files that matter. Four of the failing chunk's 22 files were absent from the table, including the two heaviest: fragment-single-edit-propagation.install.test.cjs at 230s (it runs regen:derived) and agent-fragments-emission.install.test.cjs at 79s. Both were weighted as average, so the chunk's total weight read 53.68 against a budget of 60 and the packer produced a single chunk. Regenerated from a passing full-suite run, per the remedy the script itself documents. 700 to 770 entries, 70 added, 0 dropped -- verified, since gen-test-timings.cjs replaces the table wholesale rather than merging. Proven against the real packer: the same 22 files now weigh 103.91 and split into two chunks. No logic, budget, or timeout was changed; raising a budget to make a red gate pass is not a fix. --------- Co-authored-by: sim <sim@local> |

feat(#1928): remove sunset Gemini CLI runtime, redirect to Antigravity (#1996)
* feat(#1928): remove sunset gemini cli runtime, redirect to antigravity Google sunset Gemini CLI on 2026-06-18; Antigravity CLI is its official successor (already a first-class GSD runtime). Remove the gemini runtime from the enum (16->15), aliases, labels, config-home fragment, install path, converters (convertClaudeToGemini{Markdown,Toml,Agent}, convertSlashCommandsToGeminiMentions), capability descriptor, gemini-extension.json, RULESET.GEMINI.*, and the interactive menu (renumbered, no gap). --gemini now prints an explicit deprecation notice citing the 2026-06-18 sunset and redirects to --antigravity (no silent alias, per the issue's Hyrum's-Law rejection). Antigravity is preserved throughout: its GEMINI.md contextFileName, .gemini/antigravity config home, the shared convertGeminiToolName/claudeToGeminiTools tool vocabulary, and the 'gemini' hookEvents dialect it declares. GEMINI.md retargeted as Antigravity's context file. refactor(#1734): extract install engine from bin/install.js (ADR-1239 Phase B deep move) (#1735)
* refactor(#1734): extract install engine from bin/install.js (ADR-1239 Phase B deep move) Relocate the runtime-artifact install cluster out of the 12,490-line bin/install.js into a dedicated src/install-engine.cts -> install-engine.cjs: installRuntimeArtifacts, uninstallRuntimeArtifacts, installOpencodeFamilySkills, and their cluster helpers (_copyStaged, snapshot/restore, legacy migration, GSD-entry pruning, preserve/restoreUserArtifacts, OpenCode-family converters, USER_OWNED_ARTIFACTS). - bin/install.js imports the engine and re-exports the moved symbols for back-compat; getCommitAttribution STAYS in install.js (impure config I/O + argv explicitConfigDir global) and is injected via a resolveAttribution param. - 17 test files migrated to import the moved symbols from the engine. - Bookkeeping: eslint built-artifact ignore, .gitignore, INVENTORY manifest+row, CONTEXT.md Install Engine Module glossary seam. Behaviour-preserving: install output is byte-identical for all 16 runtimes (golden-parity harness #1730) — the only delta is the new install-engine.cjs file shipping in the installed gsd-core/bin/lib/ tree. test(#1178): consolidate duplicated agent-roster helper into tests/helpers (#1420)
* test(#1178): consolidate duplicated agent-roster helper into tests/helpers The "list gsd-*.md agent files, strip .md, sort" derivation was hand-duplicated across the suite (two listAgentFiles(), an identical agentFilesOnDisk(), and inline readdir blocks). Add tests/helpers/agent-roster.cjs exporting listAgentFiles(agentsDir?) and route the genuinely-identical source-roster sites through it. Semantically-different sites (installed-dest dirs, absolute-path returns, .toml-inclusive Codex rosters, full-.md-filename readers, the uniform multi-family inventory table) are left intact, each with a one-line comment. Test-only; no production code touched. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * test(#1178): note AGENTS_DIR export is for future call sites Review nit: clarify that the currently-unused AGENTS_DIR export is intentional — available for future tests needing the canonical source agents path. fix(#1182): extract agent converters + tool-name tables into conversion module (#1220)
Extracts all 9 convertClaudeAgentTo* functions together with their full dependency closure (claudeToCopilotTools, claudeToGeminiTools, convertCopilotToolName, convertGeminiToolName) from bin/install.js into src/runtime-artifact-conversion.cts and adds them to the module's export= block. Adds 6 regression tests in tests/copilot-install.test.cjs including a DEFECT.GENERATIVE-FIX parity guard that asserts claudeToCopilotTools is identical in module and bin/install.js. Inline copies in bin/install.js are retained (#1175 will remove them). This unblocks #1173 (descriptor-driven dispatch). Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> |

feat(#956): add MemPalace memory capability (ADR-857 feature plug-in) (#1201)
* feat(#956): add MemPalace memory capability (ADR-857 feature plug-in) Adds an opt-in, default-resilient ADR-857 feature capability that wires MemPalace (local-first memory: MCP server + CLI) into the GSD loop: deliberate recall before discuss/plan and verbatim + temporal-KG capture at phase boundaries. Three memory modes (augment default; kg_backend and replace forward-declared). Master gate mempalace.enabled (default off); every hook onError:skip, zero gates; absent/disabled MemPalace => loop unchanged. Transport is rendered-markdown only — MemPalace runs out-of-process, no third-party code in gsd-core (ADR-857 §7). Capability: capabilities/mempalace/ (manifest + 2 fragments), skills commands/gsd/mempalace-{recall,capture}.md, agent agents/gsd-mempalace-curator.md. Registration: ns-context router, utility cluster, KNOWN_SKILLS, help full.md, model-catalog, copilot install list, size baselines; regenerated capability-registry + inventory manifest. ship:post wired into ship.md (wire-on-demand). HELD on #1196: this capability also declares hooks at discuss:pre and discuss:post, which are structurally un-wireable until the host-loop conformance model covers the discuss phase (discuss-phase.md is not in HOST_LOOP_FILES). The phase6-capstone-conformance gate therefore fails on exactly those two orphaned points by design — see #1196. Once #1196 lands, rebase onto next and the gate goes green with no further change. fix(#1091): thread install scope into skill converters so local Antigravity/Copilot installs use workspace paths (#1092)
The skills layout wrapper (skillsKind) invoked every per-runtime skill converter as realConverter(content, skillName, runtime, cmdNames). The 3rd positional arg is overloaded: claude/kimi/cline converters read `runtime` there, but the copilot/antigravity converters read `isGlobal` there — so they received the truthy runtime string and always took the global path branch, leaking ~/.gemini/antigravity/ and ~/.copilot/ into local/workspace installs instead of .agent/ and .github/. Thread `scope` from resolveRuntimeArtifactLayout -> dispatchKindEntry -> skillsKind, derive isGlobal = scope === 'global', and pass it as a non-colliding 5th positional arg. Move isGlobal out of the colliding 3rd slot in the two converter signatures (3rd/4th become ignored _runtime/_cmdNames, matching the kimi convention). The fix flows through the shared ArtifactKind.stage closure, so applySurface re-apply inherits it via the same seam. Regression test exercises the wrapper seam (installRuntimeArtifacts at local scope) for both runtimes and asserts workspace paths, not global. fix(#812): honor COPILOT_HOME in Copilot global config-dir resolution (#814)
* fix(#812): honor COPILOT_HOME in Copilot global config-dir resolution getGlobalConfigDir('copilot') resolved the global config directory using only --config-dir > COPILOT_CONFIG_DIR > ~/.copilot, ignoring the COPILOT_HOME env var. Per GitHub's Copilot CLI docs, COPILOT_HOME overrides the default ~/.copilot location (and user-level hooks are read from $COPILOT_HOME/hooks/), so a global --copilot install wrote all artifacts (skills, agents, copilot-instructions.md, the gsd-session.json hook) to ~/.copilot even when the user relocated their Copilot home, making them undiscoverable by Copilot CLI. Mirror the codex/CODEX_HOME branch: precedence is now --config-dir > COPILOT_CONFIG_DIR > COPILOT_HOME > ~/.copilot. Uninstall uses the same resolver, so it stays symmetric. Also: document COPILOT_HOME in the installer --help notes, the USER-GUIDE env-var table, and the installer-migrations Copilot row; and clear COPILOT_HOME in the two default-path test suites so they stay hermetic now that the resolver honors it. refactor(#56): retire legacy runtime directory helpers into runtime-homes projection (#802)
* refactor(#56): retire legacy runtime directory helpers into runtime-homes projection Consolidate per-runtime global config-dir resolution onto the single canonical projection runtime-homes:getGlobalConfigDir. Extend it with the explicitDir override (CLI --config-dir) and the opencode/kilo OPENCODE_CONFIG/KILO_CONFIG file-path precedence the installer helpers had, making it byte-for-behavior equivalent to the old getGlobalDir across all 15 install runtimes. Delete bin/install.js's getGlobalDir/getOpencodeGlobalDir/getKiloGlobalDir (and the orphaned local expandTilde), repoint all 9 call-sites, and remove getGlobalDir from module.exports (net -242 lines in the installer). Migrate the 5 test importers to the canonical projection; harden default/XDG assertions against ambient *_CONFIG env vars. getAgentsDir now respects OPENCODE_CONFIG/KILO_CONFIG consistently with the installer (intentional convergence). Known follow-up: real npm adapter must add api.npmjs.org last-week downloads fetch (currently null -> unknown-downloads). Issue #656. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(#656): detect Tavily/Ref/Perplexity/Jina provider keys; complete npm downloads adapter config: add tavily_search/ref_search/perplexity/jina availability flags (env var or ~/.gsd/<x>_api_key), mirroring brave_search/exa_search/firecrawl, so the Research Provider waterfall can gate them. package-legitimacy: real npm adapter now fetches api.npmjs.org last-week downloads (bounded, degraded-not-thrown) so weeklyDownloads is populated. +12 config tests; 34 legitimacy tests unchanged. Issue #656. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(#656): expose Research seam via gsd-tools query (research-plan, research-store, package-legitimacy) Routes the L2-hybrid surface so agents reach it as CLI: 'query research-store get/put' (cache, HOME-sandboxable), 'query research-plan --input' (cache-hits + fetch plan from planResearch), 'query package-legitimacy check --ecosystem' (async registry verdicts). Commands skip .planning root resolution and appear in top-level usage. 5 behavioral runGsdTools tests; command-contract unchanged (335). Issue #656. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * docs(#656): document Research module (CONTEXT predicates, ADR-0656, architecture, changeset) Adds GSD-RESEARCH.* + DEFECT.RESEARCH-PROVIDER-PROSE-DRIFT predicates to CONTEXT.md, ADR-0656 recording the L2-hybrid seam decision, a docs/ARCHITECTURE.md Research Module subsection, and an Added changeset fragment (pr:0, backfill on PR). Notes the #657 deferrals (agent collapse + install.js MCP mapping). Issue #656. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * chore(#656): sync inventory for research modules Regenerate INVENTORY-MANIFEST.json and bump docs/INVENTORY.md CLI Modules count 82->85 with rows for research-store/research-provider/package-legitimacy (DEFECT.INVENTORY-DRIFT). Issue #656. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * chore(#656): eslint-ignore generated research .cjs artifacts (ADR-457) research-store/research-provider/package-legitimacy .cjs are tsc-generated from src/*.cts, so they belong in the ESLint ignore block (lint the .cts source, not the emitted .cjs). Fixes tests/551-eslint-bin-lib-coverage. Issue #656. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * chore(#656): backfill changeset pr number to #664 Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * chore(#656): satisfy eslint lint-tests gate Fix 20 eslint errors in the new research files: use helpers.cleanup() instead of raw fs.rmSync() in tests (local/no-raw-rmsync-in-tests, Windows-EBUSY retry budget); drop redundant '| string' union members and unnecessary type assertions; deterministic object normalization in researchKey (no-base-to-string). Logic unchanged; 6180 tests still green. Issue #656. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#656): harden package legitimacy per review (W1/W2/I3/I4) W1: httpsGet now reads statusCode; npm/PyPI/crates map 404 -> exists:false -> SLOP (registry-existence is the #1 slopsquatting defense; previously only npm caught it). Transport made injectable (_setHttpGet) for hermetic 404 tests. W2: suspicious-postinstall is now terminal SLOP independent of the optional slopcheck adapter, and the regex drops the bare https?:// arm (over-fired on esbuild/sharp/node-gyp) for shell-exec/download-exec signatures only. I3: checkPackages now threads version to registry.lookup and adapters verify that specific version exists. I4: moreServerVerdict -> moreSevereVerdict. +11 regression tests (all RED-first); 45 total green. Addresses review by @davesienkowski on #664. Issue #656. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#656): research-store tier coherence + freshness + version TTL (W4/I1/I2/I4) I1: tier now derives from source (curated -> user ~/.gsd, else -> project .planning), not kind, so put-tier and get-tier can't diverge; kind is a key component only. W4: getResearch searches both tiers and returns the freshest (non-stale preferred), never letting a stale curated entry shadow a fresh web one; blank version caps TTL at 1 day (no 30d on version-blind keys). I2: atomic platformWriteSync instead of raw fs.writeFileSync on the shared global path. I4: dropped the dead ttlForSource arm. CLI get now searches both tiers. +5 RED-first regression tests; 38 green. Addresses review by @davesienkowski on #664. Issue #656. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#656): expose classifyConfidence as a CLI route, killing dead code (W3) Adds 'gsd-tools query classify-confidence --provider X [--verified]' so research agents get the confidence tier FROM CODE (provider waterfall + verification lever) instead of asserting it in prose. classifyConfidence previously had no runtime caller. HIGH means 'trusted provider'; --verified raises web results to MEDIUM (verification semantics documented in ADR-0656). +4 behavioral tests. Addresses review by @davesienkowski on #664 (W3). Issue #656. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#656): close Codex adversarial-review findings (path-traversal, version-age, malformed-cache) HIGH: research key must be 64-hex sha256 (isValidResearchKey) + resolved-path containment check in put/get + CLI validation -> blocks '../../x' arbitrary-file-write. HIGH: package legitimacy now derives publishedAt from the REQUESTED version (npm time[version], PyPI releases[version] upload_time, crates versions[].created_at) so a new malicious version of an old package can't inherit old age and evade 'too-new'. MEDIUM: getResearch validates entry shape (finite fetched_at + positive ttl + required fields) -> malformed cache entry is a miss, not fresh-forever. +regression tests (RED-first); 111 green. Codex adversarial review (required pre-PR gate). Issue #656. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#656): close code-review correctness findings (1) package-legitimacy CLI now rejects unknown --flags instead of silently consuming the following package as a flag value; only --ecosystem takes a value. (2) crates recent_downloads (90-day) normalized to a weekly figure before the minWeeklyDownloads threshold (was ~13x too lenient). (3) research-plan --input validates parsed JSON is an object with an Array questions before destructuring -> clean usage error instead of an uncaught TypeError on null/bad input. (4) research-store put rejects a flag value that is itself a --flag (no more storing '--source' as content). (5) planResearch skips questions whose text is not a non-empty string instead of emitting question:undefined. +13 RED-first regression tests; 143 green. Code-review gate. Issue #656. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(#657): extract researcher documentation_lookup to shared @-reference 6 researcher agents carried a near-duplicate <documentation_lookup> block; consolidate into gsd-core/references/research-documentation-lookup.md (@-included). Unifies the ctx7 CLI fallback to the safer 'command -v ctx7' guard (drops silent 'npx --yes ctx7@latest' execution in 5 agents). Behavior-preserving dedup; inventory 63->64 references. Phase A of the agent collapse. Issue #657. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * refactor(#657): extract researcher philosophy + verification-protocol to shared @-references philosophy and the pitfalls+pre-submission-checklist common-core were near-duplicated in project/phase researchers; consolidate into gsd-core/references/research-{philosophy,verification-protocol}.md (@-included). phase-researcher keeps its 3 extra checklist items inline. Pre-submission domains checklist made agent-agnostic so project-researcher doesn't lose features/architecture coverage. Write-contract intentionally left inline (bug-214 tests assert it verbatim). Inventory 64->66 refs. Behavior-preserving. Phase A. Issue #657. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(#657): wire gsd-phase-researcher to the Research seam (Phase B / S1) The phase researcher now CALLS the code seam instead of carrying inline mechanics: provider waterfall -> 'gsd-tools query research-plan' (+ research-store put to cache digests); confidence-tier prose -> 'gsd-tools query classify-confidence'; slopcheck pip-install protocol -> 'gsd-tools query package-legitimacy check'. This makes the Research module a real runtime consumer (validates the seam end-to-end, addresses reviewer S1) and removes the duplicated waterfall/confidence/slopcheck prose. RESEARCH.md output contract, commit step, structured returns, and Phase-A @-includes unchanged. package-legitimacy-gate.test.cjs rewritten prose-grep -> behavioral (asserts the seam invocation). Issue #657. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(#657): wire gsd-project-researcher to the seam + add tavily/ref/jina MCP tools (Phase C.1) project-researcher now calls gsd-tools query research-plan / classify-confidence (+ research-store put) instead of the inline provider waterfall + confidence-tier prose (mirrors the phase-researcher rewire; no package-legitimacy — phase-only). Output contract (STACK/FEATURES/ARCHITECTURE/PITFALLS/SUMMARY.md + sections, no-commit, structured returns, Phase-A @-includes) unchanged. Adds mcp__tavily/ref/jina__* to the project/phase/ui researcher tools frontmatter (Balanced provider set) so install.js MCP mapping (C.2) has a consumer. Issue #657. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * test(#657): cover tavily/ref/jina MCP install handling + frontmatter parity guard (Phase C.2) Investigation: exa/firecrawl have no explicit per-runtime tool-mapping — every mcp__<server>__* except context7 rides the generic passthrough (Copilot lowercases; OpenCode/Cursor/Windsurf/Augment keep as-is; Gemini auto-discovers). tavily/ref/jina are handled identically, no install path broken. Added 12 copilot-install passthrough tests + a mcp-tool-inheritance parity guard (tavily co-declared with exa, jina with firecrawl, ref present across the 3 web researchers) so the MCP set can't drift. No io.github registry ids invented (none sourceable in-repo); documented as a follow-up. 488 tests green. Issue #657. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(#657): profiles as source of truth for researcher agents + drift-guard (Phase C.3) scripts/research-profiles.cjs declares each of the 7 researcher agents' identity + contract (name, description, color, tools, required @-includes, required gsd-tools seam calls, output-contract markers). scripts/gen-research-agents.cjs --check validates every committed agent against its profile; --write regenerates ONLY the frontmatter from profiles (body untouched) and is a verified no-op against the current agents (zero diff = fidelity). tests/research-agent-profiles.test.cjs is the DEFECT.GENERATIVE-FIX drift guard. Design note: profiles govern the generatable/contract surface rather than destructively regenerating the disparate operational prose bodies (those were deduped via @-includes in Phase A). scripts/ is not inventoried (no inventory change). Issue #657. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#657): complete agent provider-dispatch + parity guard; align legitimacy field; validate profiles Adversarial-review findings: (HIGH) the seam-wired agents' Step-C dispatch only mapped 6 providers, so a planResearch result of jina/ref/perplexity/brave (reachable via the waterfall fallbacks) had no handling -> agent stall; completed both agents' dispatch to all 9 PROVIDER_WATERFALL ids + a catch-all, and added a parity test asserting agent dispatch stays in sync with research-provider PROVIDER_WATERFALL (DEFECT.GENERATIVE-FIX). (MEDIUM) phase-researcher package-legitimacy JSON example used 'package' but the module returns 'name' -> aligned. (LOW) gen-research-agents checkAgent now returns a clear failure for a malformed profile instead of throwing. +parity/validation tests (RED-first). Issue #657. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#656): make classifyConfidence verification-evidence-driven (W3) Confidence conflated provider authority with claim verification — context7/ref stamped HIGH purely by provider identity, and the only verification lever was a self-set --verified flag. Split into two axes: provider authority (static) + verification evidence (code-computed). HIGH now requires ground-truth corroboration (legitimacyVerdict OK), independent of provider; authority alone caps at MEDIUM; SLOP caps at LOW; the self-reported --verified is demoted to a MEDIUM-only web lever. HIGH = corroborated-against-authoritative-source, not a correctness guarantee. Adds --legitimacy-verdict to the classify-confidence CLI; updates CONTEXT.md predicate + ADR-0656 (tier set unchanged, ADR-consistent). Addresses davesienkowski's W3 review on #664. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#656): bind classify-confidence verdict to code, closing CLI self-grading Adversarial review found the new --legitimacy-verdict flag was caller-supplied, so an agent could self-assert OK->HIGH without any real legitimacy check — reintroducing the exact self-grading hole W3 closes. Remove the free flag; the CLI now computes the verdict via checkPackages only when --package/--ecosystem is given (code-computed, not agent-asserted). Update the stale CLI test (context7 alone -> MEDIUM) and extend the property test to vary legitimacyVerdict. chore(#604): rename get-shit-done/ runtime directory to gsd-core/ (#615)
* chore(#604): rename get-shit-done/ runtime directory to gsd-core/ Renames the installed runtime directory `get-shit-done/` to `gsd-core/` so the on-disk name matches the package (`@opengsd/gsd-core`), repo, and binary (`gsd-tools`). The npm package name and binary are unchanged; npx/npm consumers are unaffected. Mechanical (bulk, ~90% of the diff): - `git mv get-shit-done gsd-core` - Swept path/identifier references across the repo via `perl -pe 's/get-shit-done(?!-\w)/gsd-core/g'`. The negative lookahead preserves the five legitimate slug variants that are NOT the directory: get-shit-done-{OLD,cc,classic,cli,redux} (old package/repo names). - Build/manifest wiring: package.json (bin, files, coverage globs), tsconfig.build.json (outDir), ~86 .gitignore build-output entries, stryker.config.mjs, scan-ignore files, install.js path strings. - Frozen (not rewritten): CHANGELOG.md history; translated docs (README.<locale>.md and docs/{ja-JP,ko-KR,pt-BR,zh-CN}/). New logic (review here): - src/installer-migrations/003-rename-get-shit-done-to-gsd-core.cts: a proper ADR-0008 installer migration. On upgrade it walks the legacy `~/.claude/get-shit-done/` tree, classifies each file via the prior install manifest, and emits remove-managed / backup-and-remove for managed files while PRESERVING unknown user-added files. Symlink-safe (skips a symlinked root and symlinked entries; bounds-checks every path under configDir). The framework rolls back on install failure. Emptied dirs may remain (framework has no recursive dir-removal primitive) — documented. - scripts/lint-legacy-dir-name.cjs: CI regression guard forbidding the bare `get-shit-done` directory token (split token to avoid self-match; case- insensitive; `(?!-\w)` lookahead allows the slug variants; allowlists CHANGELOG, translated docs, and `gsd-allow-legacy-name` marker lines). Wired into the lint-tests CI job. - Restored scripts/lint-package-identity-drift.cjs detection regexes (the mechanical sweep had wrongly rewritten the old-name patterns it exists to detect) and marked them as intentional legacy references. - TDD tests for the migration and the guard; do.md slash-command guard regex tightened so a `/gsd-core/bin` path segment is not mistaken for a command; changeset + docs/installer-migrations.md row added. Breaking: the installed runtime path moves `~/.claude/get-shit-done/` -> `~/.claude/gsd-core/`. Migration 003 removes the stale legacy dir's managed files (preserving user files) on upgrade. Users with custom hooks/configs hardcoding the old path must update them. Closes #604 Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#604): unsweep pending changesets + allowlist injection-example docs CI fixes for the rename PR: - Do not sweep pending .changeset/*.md (ephemeral release-note fragments, like CHANGELOG); reverted those body edits so 5 pre-existing malformed fragments (missing type/pr) no longer enter the PR diff and trip docs-lint. Allowlisted .changeset/ in the legacy-name guard accordingly. - Allowlisted TEST-EXAMPLES.md and docs/explanation/security-model.md in prompt-injection-scan.sh: they contain intentional injection examples / security-model prose; the path-reference rewrites are kept. CodeQL alerts on this PR are pre-existing (alert lines unchanged by this PR; none in the new migration/guard) and are out of scope for the rename. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#604): resolve CodeQL alerts surfaced on this PR The rename diff touched files carrying pre-existing CodeQL findings; per the no-pre-existing-dismissal rule, fixing every surfaced alert rather than waving them off. All behavior-preserving: - scripts/ci-test-scope.cjs: build the config-path match from string .includes() instead of a RegExp over an arg-derived value (js/regex-injection). - src/profile-output.cts: escape backslashes before pipe-escaping desc/safeName so the table-cell escape is complete (js/incomplete-sanitization). - tests/{bug-2643,bug-2808,docs-parity-live-registry}: two-pass HTML-comment strip so a bare/unclosed `<!--` cannot survive (js/incomplete-multi-character-sanitization). - tests/inline-plan-threshold: drop the no-op `\s`->`\s` identity replace, keep the meaningful POSIX-class conversion (js/identity-replacement). Verified: build:lib green; the touched test files + ci-test-scope + profile-output suites pass; lint:legacy-name clean. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#604): correctly resolve remaining CodeQL alerts (regex-injection + sanitization) The prior commit's fixes for two alerts were ineffective: - ci-test-scope.cjs js/regex-injection: the alert is the CLI-arg-derived `file` reaching static regex `.test(file)` calls (not the config rule). Removed ALL regex over file/t — startsWith/includes/=== string checks + an isWindowsHint helper — so there is no regex sink for the tainted value. - js/incomplete-multi-character-sanitization (3 test files): a single `.replace(/<!--...-->/g,'')` can let `<!--` re-form. Replaced with a fixpoint loop (replace until stable) plus a final bare-opener strip. Verified: no regex over file/t remains; ci-test-scope + the 3 test suites pass; lint:legacy-name clean. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#604): make ci-test-scope + comment-strippers regex-free to clear CodeQL CodeQL flags the regex PATTERNS syntactically (regex-injection on the --files arg split; incomplete-multi-character-sanitization on the <!--...--> replace), so loop fixes do not satisfy it. Made these paths regex-free: - ci-test-scope.cjs splitFiles: char-by-char separator tokenizer (no /[,\\s]+/). - 3 test files: indexOf/slice HTML-comment stripper (no .replace(/<!--/)). Behavior preserved; ci-test-scope + the 3 suites pass; guard clean. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#604): unblock security base64 scan on the large rename diff The security job hit its 10m timeout: base64-scan.sh choked on the binary test fixture tests/feat-3594-parser-property-style.test.cjs (embedded NUL/ non-UTF8 bytes -> thousands of bogus blobs + "ignored null byte" warnings), and the ~800-file rename diff is slow to scan regardless. - scripts/base64-scan.sh: skip binary-by-content files (grep -Iq .) — they can't carry base64-obfuscated *text* and feeding NUL bytes through the per-line scanner is pathologically slow. collect_files already filtered binary *extensions*; this catches binary *content* in text extensions. - .github/workflows/security-scan.yml: raise the security job timeout 10m->30m to accommodate very large diffs (the scan itself is unchanged). Verified locally: scan skips the fixture, 0 "ignored null byte" warnings, 0 findings, exit 0. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#604): sweep get-shit-done refs introduced by merging next The branch was updated with next (#614/#384/#618 etc.), which reference the get-shit-done/ dir (still named that on next). Swept the stale references in the merged files to gsd-core so the rename stays consistent and lint:legacy-name passes: - commands/gsd/discuss-phase.md (runtime-launcher shim paths) - src/core.cts (getAgentsDir layout comments) - tests/bug-384-agents-runtime-aware.test.cjs (require path to runtime lib) Verified: guard 0 violations; build green. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#604): exclude gsd-core/ path segments from bug-3683 command cross-ref invariant The #614 runtime-launcher shim added to discuss-phase.md references `${_GSD_RUNTIME_ROOT}/gsd-core/bin/...`. bug-3683's REF_PATTERN excluded path-y refs only via lookbehind, but `}` precedes `/gsd-core/` in the shim, so it mis-read the directory path as a dangling `/gsd-core` command ref (same class as the #604 bug-2954 fix). Added a trailing `(?![\w-]*\/)` so `/gsd-<x>/...` path segments are not treated as slash-command references. Verified locally on BOTH platforms before pushing: - mac (node 26) full suite: 0 failures - gsd-test-runner (linux, node22 image) full suite: 0 failures - bug-3683 + bug-2954 pass. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#604): lazily resolve findProjectRoot in gsd-tools (harden flaky CI) CI intermittently failed state.test's gsd-tools subprocess with "findProjectRoot is not a function" (flip-flopping across legs; not reproducible on mac full suite, gsd-test linux full suite, test:unit, or state.test x8). findProjectRoot is a re-export from core.cjs (sourced from project-root.cjs); binding it via destructure at module-load can be undefined under a load-ordering edge. Resolve it lazily at call time via a small wrapper so the lookup happens after core.cjs is fully initialized. Verified green on BOTH platforms before pushing: - mac (node 26) full suite: 0 failures - gsd-test-runner (linux, node22) full suite: 0 failures - state.test.cjs: 106/106; gsd-tools loads cleanly. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#604): allowlist verification-patterns.md placeholder examples in secret scan The rename git-mv'd references/verification-patterns.md into gsd-core/, pulling it into the secret-scan diff. It documents stub/placeholder RED-FLAG env-var examples (illustrative Stripe test-key / database-URL / API-key placeholders) — not real credentials. Added it to .secretscanignore with the strict annotation, mirroring the existing gsd-core/workflows/plan-phase.md exception. Verified locally: secret-scan-lint --strict OK; secret-scan --diff origin/next exits 0 with 0 findings. chore(#597): replace count-based ratchet guards with AST lint + named-set allowlists (#603)
The windows-test-parity ratchet greps test source for fs.rmSync-without-
maxRetries (and six other Windows-portability anti-patterns), failing when an
integer offender COUNT exceeds a frozen baseline (rmSync: 95). A count ratchet
is a Goodhart metric: fixing one offender and adding another keeps the count
constant, so a new defect slips through green. Replace it — and every other
count ratchet in the repo — with a layered, masking-proof design.
Behavioral seam test
- tests/helpers-cleanup.test.cjs proves helpers.cleanup() carries the Windows
EBUSY retry budget. cleanup() delegates retries to Node's fs.rmSync via
maxRetries (it owns no loop), so the test asserts the option contract
(recursive/force/maxRetries>0/retryDelay>0) + real-FS removal + the cwd-guard,
rather than a loop that does not exist. The EBUSY risk is now tested ONCE at
the helper, not approximated textually at every call site.
Write-time ESLint rule (AST-accurate, replaces the grep)
- eslint-rules/no-raw-rmsync-in-tests.cjs (error in tests/**/*.test.cjs) bans
raw fs.rmSync, steering to cleanup(). Catches member, computed (fs['rmSync']),
destructured and aliased forms; escape hatch is inline
`// eslint-disable-next-line local/no-raw-rmsync-in-tests -- <reason>` only.
- Migrated 336 raw fs.rmSync teardown calls across ~116 test files to cleanup().
~18 genuinely load-bearing sites (mid-test SUT/fault-injection removals,
error-swallowing or name-colliding local teardown helpers) keep the raw call
with an inline eslint-disable + reason.
Shared anti-ratchet primitive
- scripts/lib/allowlist-ratchet.cjs:
- assertWithinAllowlist: fails on NOVEL ids (new offender introduced) AND on
STALE ids (a known offender was fixed but not pruned) — identity, not count,
and a ratchet DOWN toward zero.
- assertTightCeiling: a size/length budget whose ceiling must stay within a
grace band of the high-water mark, so budgets may only tighten, never creep.
Ratchets converted onto the primitive
- windows-test-parity-guard.test.cjs: rmSync rule deleted (now ESLint-enforced);
the remaining six patterns moved from integer baselines to named-set
allowlists with ratchet-down.
- scripts/lint-test-file-count.{cjs,allowlist.json}: per-module integer counts →
named filename sets (closes the swap-a-file-keep-the-count blind spot); a
module dropping under cap now FAILS to force pruning its allowlist entry.
- enh-2790 skill-count `<= 63` → named skill allowlist (ratchets toward ~58).
Size budgets hardened (tighten-only)
- agent-size / workflow-size / feat-3039 help-tiered: ceilings lowered to the
current high-water mark and an assertTightCeiling anti-creep check added per
tier. Fixed external-contract limits (description ≤100 chars, agent ≤100 KB)
are intentionally left as-is — they are not grandfathered creeping budgets.
No user-facing behavior change (tests + tooling only); no USER_FACING_PREFIXES
touched, so no changeset fragment is required.

refactor(tests): retire output-grep & source-grep via typed surfaces (finish #2974) (#462)
* refactor(#455): implement typed surfaces to retire grep tests Production surfaces added: - hooks/managed-hooks-registry.cjs: new CJS module exporting MANAGED_HOOKS as a typed array; gsd-check-update-worker.js now requires it instead of declaring an inline array - bin/install.js: elevate inline gsdHooks to module-level GSD_UNINSTALL_HOOKS, export it alongside runtimeMap/allRuntimes (already exported) - scripts/build-hooks.js: export HOOKS_TO_COPY; guard build() behind require.main===module so tests can require the file without triggering a build - get-shit-done/bin/lib/init.cjs: add --json mode to agent-skills command, emitting typed IR { agent_type, block, skills_count } for test assertions - get-shit-done/bin/gsd-tools.cjs: wire --json flag for agent-skills dispatch Category-B source-grep migrations: - tests/managed-hooks.test.cjs: require MANAGED_HOOKS from registry, drop fs.readFileSync+regex - tests/orphaned-hooks.test.cjs: require MANAGED_HOOKS+HOOKS_TO_COPY as typed exports - tests/hooks-opt-in.test.cjs: replace gsdHooks regex-parse with GSD_UNINSTALL_HOOKS import - tests/install-minimal-hooks.test.cjs: replace gsdHooks regex-parse with GSD_UNINSTALL_HOOKS - tests/copilot-install.test.cjs: replace src.includes() checks with typed assertions on runtimeMap, allRuntimes, parseRuntimeInput, buildRuntimePromptText - tests/agent-skills.test.cjs: migrate to --json typed IR assertions pending-migration-to-typed-ir token cleared (87 of 87 files): - 78 files already had source-text-is-the-product; removed duplicate token - 5 files already used typed assertions; reclassified or annotated - 4 files required individual reclassification to source-text-is-the-product or architectural-invariant Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#455): update workflow-guard test to typed GSD_UNINSTALL_HOOKS import; isolate HOME in runtime-launcher (D) test Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#455): guard install.js main() behind require.main===module so the typed export is require-safe Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * docs(#455): document --json typed surfaces for agent-skills, progress, validate context Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * docs(#455): add changeset fragment for new --json surfaces Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(#455): complete grep migration for files flagged by lint-tests The branch commit 4e630d99 stripped `allow-test-rule: pending-migration-to-typed-ir` from ~80 test files without replacing their assertions or adding the correct exemption annotation. The files were NOT source-grep tests — they read .md workflow/agent/command/reference files (source-text-is-the-product) or hook source files for structural invariants (structural-regression-guard). No assertion logic was changed; only the correct allow-test-rule annotation was added to each file per CONTRIBUTING.md exception matrix. 73 files: `source-text-is-the-product` — workflow/agent/command/reference .md 7 files: `structural-regression-guard` — hook .js / bin/install.js structural checks Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> --------- Co-authored-by: CI Rebase Check <ci@gsd-redux> Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> |

refactor(3664): migrate bin/install.js install/uninstall to Runtime Artifact Layout Module (#3674)
Phase 2 of #3660 / ADR-3660. Routes both lifecycle verbs through the Runtime Artifact Layout Module landed in Phase 1 (#3663): - Add installRuntimeArtifacts(runtime, configDir, scope, resolvedProfile) and uninstallRuntimeArtifacts(runtime, configDir, scope) as the public orchestrators. Both pre-prune stale gsd-* entries before staged copy; installRuntimeArtifacts brackets the prune+copy with preserveUserArtifacts / restoreUserArtifacts so user-owned content (e.g. gsd-dev-preferences) survives wipe-and-replace for claude/qwen/hermes runtimes. - Add applyRuntimeContentRewritesInPlace as the per-runtime path/branding post-stage step (preserves byte-output equivalence with the legacy copyCommandsAs* pipeline, including Qwen/Hermes branding rewrites). - Add _copyStaged, _removeGsdEntries kind-aware filesystem helpers. - Add _runLegacyInstallMigrations, _runLegacyUninstallCleanup as thin dispatchers over existing ADR-0008 legacy migrations (Hermes flat->nested per #2841, dev-preferences-as-skill per #2973). For Hermes, also clean up the intermediate skills/gsd/gsd-*/ layout that pre-Phase-2 installs left on disk. - Delete the 9 copyCommandsAs*Skills functions (Codex / Cursor / Windsurf / Trae / CodeBuddy / Copilot / Claude / Antigravity / Augment) and the _copyCommandsAsSkillsViaConverter helper. All test entry points migrated to call installRuntimeArtifacts directly through the unified seam. - Collapse the 9-branch uninstall ladder to one uninstallRuntimeArtifacts call plus preserved non-layout side-effects (Codex TOML, Copilot instructions, hooks). - Unify install dispatcher: a single _isSkillsRuntime gate routes all 11 skills runtimes through installRuntimeArtifacts for both full and core/ minimal profiles. Removes 11 per-runtime if-else branches (3 minimal-mode shim branches + 8 dead after-the-gate branches). Net delta on bin/install.js: 11,495 -> 11,174 (-321 LOC). New tests: - tests/install-uninstall-layout-loop.test.cjs (34 tests) - per-runtime fixture assertions on install/uninstall/legacy-migration ordering. - tests/install-hermes-regressions.test.cjs (6 tests) - covers the six defects surfaced by iterative review: Hermes upgrade leaves stale dirs, --hermes --profile=core fall-through, --qwen --profile=core fall-through, minimal-mode dev-preferences migration skipped (Hermes/Qwen/Claude-global), and ordering bug in _runLegacyInstallMigrations. Existing tests (10,038 prior + 40 new) all green: 10,078/10,078 pass. Refs #3664 Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> |

fix(3584): address coderabbit findings on PR #3606
CodeRabbit surfaced one outstanding inline finding plus an outside-diff finding and a finer point on two already-remediated sites; all addressed: 1. (inline, Minor) runtime-slash.cjs:31 — a degenerate input like `/gsd:`, `gsd:`, or `gsd-` normalizes to empty and the previous fallback returned the original colon-form input, reintroducing the deprecated shape the module exists to suppress. Now returns `''` (empty string) so callers see "no command" instead of an unroutable string. Also catches whitespace-only inputs the same way. New unit tests pin the contract. 2. (inline, Major) drift.cjs library purity — the earlier remediation passed `projectDir` into `detectDrift` and re-resolved runtime inside the library. CodeRabbit (correctly) flagged this as breaking the module's pure-library contract. detectDrift now accepts `input.runtime` directly; verify.cmdVerifyCodebaseDrift resolves the runtime once and passes the literal name in. drift.cjs no longer reads env or config at all. 3. (duplicate inline, Minor) gsd2-import.cjs:475 — when `gsd2-import --path <dir>` targets a project that isn't the process cwd, the preview command was formatted for the wrong runtime. buildPreview now receives the resolved `projectDir` (the same one used to find the .gsd/ root) instead of the raw `cwd`. 4. (outside-diff, Minor) tests/copilot-install.test.cjs:1-5 — the `allow-test-rule: integration-test-input` rationale block specifically named verify.cjs as the fixture, but #3584 changed that test to use a synthetic input. Comment now describes the real shape of the file's readFileSync usage (commands/, agents/, install.js source inputs to the installer/converter functions under test) and notes the synthetic substitution for the bin/lib path. Full suite: 9366/9366 pass (+1 new test). Lint clean. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> |

fix(3584): runtime-aware slash formatter for user-facing emissions
Introduce `runtime-slash.cjs` as the single source of truth for emitting GSD slash-command references in user-facing runtime output and persisted artifacts. `formatGsdSlash(commandName, runtime)` produces `/gsd-<cmd>` for skills-based runtimes (Claude/Cursor/OpenCode/Kilo/etc.) and `$gsd-<cmd>` for Codex. The deprecated `/gsd:<cmd>` colon form is never emitted — pasting a recommended-action command into Claude Code now routes correctly instead of failing with `Unknown command`. Wired into the high-impact emitters identified in #3584: - `init.cjs` `cmdInitManager` recommended_actions[].command (the original failure path in the bug report) plus the no-ROADMAP / no-STATE error hints. - `phase.cjs` `cmdPhaseAdd`, `cmdPhaseAddBatch`, `cmdPhaseInsert` — ROADMAP.md `Plans:` references now persist the routable form instead of the legacy colon form. - `verify.cjs` `cmdValidateHealth` — every fix-hint addIssue() call (E001/E002/E003/E004/E005, W002/W003/W008/W009/W011/W016/W018) and the persisted STATE.md regenerate / MILESTONES.md backfill notes. - `milestone.cjs` `cmdMilestoneComplete` — Operator Next Steps tail rewrite. - `validate-command-router.cjs` — `validate context` recommendation strings for WARNING/CRITICAL utilization bands. - `workstream.cjs` — missing .planning hint. - `profile-output.cjs` — `generate-claude-md` workflow enforcement block, project/skills fallbacks, profile placeholder, and the dev-preferences refresh hints. - `drift.cjs`, `gsd2-import.cjs`, `commands.cjs scaffold context` — remaining one-off persisted references. Runtime detection: `resolveRuntime(projectDir)` reads `process.env.GSD_RUNTIME` first, then a side-effect-free direct read of `.planning/config.json` (NOT `loadConfig`, which would normalize legacy keys and re-write the file just to read the runtime name). Tests: - `tests/bug-3584-runtime-slash-formatter.test.cjs` — 22 unit tests covering the pure formatter and resolver (hyphen vs codex, prefix normalization, defensive returns, env/config/default chain). - `tests/bug-3584-runtime-slash-emitters.test.cjs` — 6 integration tests exercising `init manager`, `phase add` (via the structured `roadmap get-phase` payload to avoid raw-text matching on the on-disk artifact), `validate health`, `validate context`, and the codex variant. - Existing tests updated to assert the new contract: validate-context recommendations, claude-md workflow block, milestone complete Operator Next Steps. Copilot-install engine-conversion test now asserts against a synthetic input since bin/lib/*.cjs no longer contains literal `/gsd:` references for the install-time converter to rewrite. INVENTORY.md and INVENTORY-MANIFEST.json updated for the new module (64 CLI modules shipped, +1). Fixes #3584 Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> |

fix(#3010): post-install message and docs use /gsd-update --reapply (#3012)
* fix(#3010): post-install message and docs use /gsd-update --reapply PR #2824 consolidated 86 skills into ~58, removing the standalone /gsd-reapply-patches command and folding it into a flag on /gsd-update (/gsd-update --reapply). The 1.39.1 hotfix (#2954) updated help.md but missed three other surfaces that still recommended the dead form: 1. bin/install.js reportLocalPatches() — runtime emitter shown after every install with backed-up patches. All branches updated: - claude/opencode/kilo/copilot: /gsd-update --reapply - gemini: /gsd:update --reapply - codex: $gsd-update --reapply - cursor: gsd-update --reapply (mention the skill name) 2. get-shit-done/workflows/update.md — Step 4 prose and the check_local_patches block both referenced /gsd-reapply-patches. Replaced with /gsd-update --reapply (with backticks around the command per CR feedback for copy/paste UX). 3. Localized docs (en/ja-JP/ko-KR/zh-CN) — 14 files across ARCHITECTURE.md / COMMANDS.md / FEATURES.md / INVENTORY.md / USER-GUIDE.md / manual-update.md still listed the removed command. Tests: - bug-3010-reapply-patches-references.test.cjs (4 tests): scans bin/install.js's reportLocalPatches body, every workflow file, and every doc (excluding CHANGELOG history and help.md's deprecation notice) for the removed command form, and verifies each runtime branch emits the consolidated form via captured console output. - tests/copilot-install.test.cjs:1081-1115 — stale assertions that hard-coded the removed string updated to assert /gsd-update --reapply. Verification: 115/115 pass across both files. Co-authored-by: Patrick Clery <patrick@patrickclery.com> Closes #3010 * test(#3010): broaden dead-command scan + tighten runtime exact-match CodeRabbit follow-up findings on #3012: 1. Workflow + docs scans only matched "/gsd-reapply-patches", missing the gemini ("/gsd:reapply-patches") and codex ("$gsd-reapply-patches") spellings. A regression that re-introduced either form in localized docs would have passed silently. Extracted a DEAD_COMMAND_PATTERNS array + findDeadCommands() helper used by both scans, so all three removed forms are checked uniformly. Match output also reports which spellings hit, for faster diagnosis. 2. reportLocalPatches runtime test asserted output.includes('update --reapply'), which is too loose — a malformed prefix like '/gsd:update --reapply' on the claude branch would have passed. Replaced with an exact {runtime → expected token} map covering all 7 branches: claude/opencode/kilo/copilot → /gsd-update --reapply gemini → /gsd:update --reapply codex → $gsd-update --reapply cursor → gsd-update --reapply Negative assertion also runs DEAD_COMMAND_PATTERNS against output for every runtime, so dead forms can't slip in regardless of branch. Verification: 4/4 pass on bug-3010-reapply-patches-references.test.cjs. * test(#3010): add prefix-absence guard for cursor runtime (CR follow-up) CodeRabbit (Minor): the cursor expected token "gsd-update --reapply" is a substring of every prefixed form ("/gsd-update --reapply" for claude/ opencode/kilo/copilot, "\$gsd-update --reapply" for codex). The positive output.includes(expectedToken) check therefore can't distinguish correct cursor output from a regression where the installer emits a prefixed form for cursor — both pass the substring check. Add an explicit prefix-absence assertion for cursor that fails if any of /, \$, or : appears immediately before "gsd-update --reapply" in output. The gemini form ("/gsd:update --reapply") doesn't share the substring (gsd:update vs gsd-update) so it's already caught by the positive includes failing on cursor's expected bare token. Verification: 4/4 pass. --------- Co-authored-by: Patrick Clery <patrick@patrickclery.com> |

fix(#2876): yamlQuote SKILL.md description for Copilot/Antigravity/Trae/CodeBuddy (#2881)
* fix(#2876): yamlQuote description in Copilot/Antigravity/Trae/CodeBuddy SKILL.md A description starting with `[BETA]` (or any YAML flow indicator — `{`, `*`, `&`, `!`, `|`, `>`, `%`, `@`, backtick) is parsed as a flow sequence/mapping by YAML 1.2-strict loaders. gh-copilot's frontmatter loader fails closed: ✖ ~/.copilot/skills/gsd-ultraplan-phase/SKILL.md: failed to parse YAML frontmatter: Unexpected scalar at node end at line 2, column 21: description: [BETA] Offload plan phase to Claude Code's ultraplan… Six emission sites in `bin/install.js` re-wrote the description without quoting, while the Claude variant (`convertClaudeCommandToClaudeSkill`) already routed it through `yamlQuote`. Brought all six in line: - convertClaudeCommandToCopilotSkill - convertClaudeAgentToCopilotAgent - convertClaudeCommandToAntigravitySkill - convertClaudeAgentToAntigravityAgent - convertClaudeCommandToTraeSkill - convertClaudeCommandToCodebuddySkill Each now wraps the value in `yamlQuote(...)` so any leading character is parser-safe. Regression test (tests/bug-2876-skill-frontmatter-quote.test.cjs) drives the four command converters and two agent converters through the reporter's exact "[BETA] …" description plus a grab-bag of YAML flow indicators, asserting the emitted `description:` value is a quoted YAML scalar. Also round-trips the value through `JSON.parse` for converters that don't apply runtime-name substitution to confirm fidelity. Updated 7 pre-existing substring assertions in copilot-install.test.cjs and antigravity-install.test.cjs that hard-coded the unquoted form. Round trip: 5893/5893 pass on `npm test`. Closes #2876 * test(#2876): structurally parse frontmatter instead of substring-grep Addresses CodeRabbit's two nitpicks on PR #2881: the pre-existing substring assertions in copilot-install.test.cjs (4 sites) and antigravity-install.test.cjs (3 sites) only got bumped from the unquoted form (`description: Diagnose...`) to the quoted-prefix form (`description: "Diagnose...`). Both are still raw-string checks against rendered YAML and drift on any quoting/order change — exactly what the project's CONTRIBUTING.md "no-source-grep" testing standard exists to prevent. Add `parseFrontmatter()` to tests/helpers.cjs — a small parser that handles the YAML scalar forms the install converters emit (double-quoted JSON, single-quoted with `''` escape, bare). Throws if the content has no closed `---` block so a regression in the emitter shape fails loudly rather than silently returning {}. Refactor the 7 description-substring sites to compare on parsed values: the assertion now reads as `fm.description === 'Diagnose planning directory health'` rather than `result.includes('description: "Diagnose planning directory health')`. Same coverage of the #2876 quoting behavior, no coupling to byte-level quote style. `npm test`: 5893/5893 pass. Closes #2876 * test(#2876): make parseFrontmatter delimiter check CRLF/whitespace tolerant CR nitpick on PR #2881 (review at 03:08:08Z): parseFrontmatter() splits on '\n' and compares each line strictly to '---'. A Windows-authored skill file (CRLF endings) leaves a trailing '\r' on every line, so '---\r' fails the equality check, and the helper throws "no closed --- block" on perfectly valid input. Same problem with whitespace-padded delimiter lines. Switch to splitting on /\r?\n/ and comparing the trimmed line. Helper is used by tests/copilot-install.test.cjs and tests/antigravity-install.test.cjs, so this also de-flakes those suites on Windows runners. 5893/5893 on `npm test`. |

docs(test-standards): enforce no-source-grep rule with CI linter + CONTRIBUTING.md (#2700)
* docs(test-standards): enforce no-source-grep rule with CI linter + update CONTRIBUTING.md
Adds scripts/lint-no-source-grep.cjs — a static linter that detects readFileSync
on .cjs source files in tests without an allow-test-rule annotation. Wires it
into CI as a new lint-tests job in test.yml and as npm run lint:tests.
Resolves all 9 existing violations across the test suite:
- Rewrites workspace routing tests (3) as behavioral runGsdTools calls that
verify each command is router-recognized (exit != "Unknown init workflow")
- Adds allow-test-rule annotations with explanatory comments to 7 legitimate
structural tests: architectural invariants (locking, orphan-worktree),
structural regression guards (milestone-regex-global), docs-parity
(config-field-docs), integration-test-input (copilot-install), and
structural-implementation-guards (bug-1891, discuss-mode)
Updates CONTRIBUTING.md Testing Standards section with:
- "Prohibited: Source-Grep Tests" section with the before/after pattern,

feat(agents): add gsd-doc-classifier and gsd-doc-synthesizer
Two new specialist agents for /gsd-ingest-docs (#2387): - gsd-doc-classifier: reads one doc, writes JSON classification ({ADR|PRD|SPEC|DOC|UNKNOWN} + title + scope + cross-refs + locked). Heuristic-first, LLM on ambiguous. Designed for parallel fan-out per doc. - gsd-doc-synthesizer: consumes all classifications + sources, applies precedence rules (ADR>SPEC>PRD>DOC, manifest-overridable), runs cycle detection on cross-ref graph, enforces LOCKED-vs-LOCKED hard-blocks in both modes, writes INGEST-CONFLICTS.md with three buckets (auto-resolved, competing-variants, unresolved-blockers) and per-type intel staging files for gsd-roadmapper. Also updates docs/ARCHITECTURE.md total-agents count (31 → 33) and the copilot-install expected agent list. Refs #2387 Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> |

feat(intel): add queryable codebase intelligence system (#1728)
* feat(intel): add queryable codebase intelligence system Add persistent codebase intelligence that reduces context overhead: - lib/intel.cjs: 654-line CLI module with 13 exports (query, status, diff, snapshot, patch-meta, validate, extract-exports, and more). Reads config.json directly (not via config-get which hard-exits on missing keys). Default is DISABLED (user must set intel.enabled: true). - gsd-tools.cjs: intel case routing with 7 subcommand dispatches - /gsd-intel command: 4 modes (query, status, diff, refresh). Config gate uses Read tool. Refresh spawns gsd-intel-updater agent via Task(). - gsd-intel-updater agent: writes 5 artifacts to .planning/intel/ (files.json, apis.json, deps.json, stack.json, arch.md). Uses gsd-tools intel CLI calls. Completion markers registered in agent-contracts.md. - agent-contracts.md: updated with gsd-intel-updater registration * docs(changelog): add intel system entry for #1688 * test(intel): add comprehensive tests for intel.cjs Cover disabled gating, query (keys, values, case-insensitive, multi-file, arch.md text), status (fresh, stale, missing), diff (no baseline, added, changed), snapshot, validate (missing files, invalid JSON, complete store), patch-meta, extract-exports (CJS, ESM named, ESM block, missing file), and gsd-tools CLI routing for intel subcommands. 38 test cases across 10 describe blocks. * fix(intel): address review feedback — merge markers, redundant requires, gate docs, update route - Remove merge conflict markers from CHANGELOG.md - Replace redundant require('path')/require('fs') in isIntelEnabled with top-level bindings - Add JSDoc notes explaining why intelPatchMeta and intelExtractExports skip isIntelEnabled gate - Add 'intel update' CLI route in gsd-tools.cjs and update help text - Fix stale /gsd: colon reference in intelUpdate return message |

refactor(tests): standardize to node:assert/strict and t.after() per CONTRIBUTING.md (#1675)
* refactor(tests): standardize to node:assert/strict and t.after() per CONTRIBUTING.md
- Replace require('node:assert') with require('node:assert/strict') across
all 73 test files to enforce strict equality (no type coercion)
- Replace try/finally cleanup blocks with t.after() hooks in core.test.cjs
and hooks-opt-in.test.cjs per the test lifecycle standards
- Utility functions in codex-config and security-scan retain try/finally
as that is appropriate for per-function resource guards, not lifecycle hooks
Closes #1674
Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* perf(tests): add --test-concurrency=4 to test runner for parallel file execution
Node.js --test-concurrency controls how many test files run as parallel child
processes. Set to 4 by default, configurable via TEST_CONCURRENCY env var.
Fixes tests at a known level rather than inheriting os.availableParallelism()
which varies across CI environments.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(security): allowlist verify.test.cjs in prompt-injection scanner
tests/verify.test.cjs uses <human>...</human> as GSD phase task-type
XML (meaning "a human should verify this step"), which matches the
scanner's fake-message-boundary pattern for LLM APIs. This is a
false positive — add it to the allowlist alongside the other test files
that legitimately contain injection-adjacent patterns.

fix: remove marketing text from runtime prompt, fix #1656 and #1657 (#1672)
* chore: ignore .worktrees directory Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(install): remove marketing taglines from runtime selection prompt Closes #1654 The runtime selection menu had promotional copy appended to some entries ("open source, the #1 AI coding platform on OpenRouter", "open source, free models"). Replaced with just the name and path. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * test(kilo): update test to assert marketing tagline is removed Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(tests): use process.execPath so tests pass in shells without node on PATH Three test patterns called bare `node` via shell, which fails in Claude Code sessions where `node` is not on PATH: - helpers.cjs string branch: execSync(`node ...`) → execFileSync(process.execPath) with a shell-style tokenizer that handles quoted args and inner-quote stripping - hooks-opt-in.test.cjs: spawnSync('bash', ...) for hooks that call `node` internally → spawnHook() wrapper that injects process.execPath dir into PATH - concurrency-safety.test.cjs: exec(`node ...`) for concurrent patch test → exec(`"${process.execPath}" ...`) Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: resolve #1656 and #1657 — bash hooks missing from dist, SDK install prompt #1656: Community bash hooks (gsd-session-state.sh, gsd-validate-commit.sh, gsd-phase-boundary.sh) were never included in HOOKS_TO_COPY in build-hooks.js, so hooks/dist/ never contained them and the installer could not copy them to user machines. Fixed by adding the three .sh files to the copy array with chmod +x preservation and skipping JS syntax validation for shell scripts. #1657: promptSdk() called installSdk() which ran `npm install -g @gsd-build/sdk` — a package that does not exist on npm, causing visible errors during interactive installs. Removed promptSdk(), installSdk(), --sdk flag, and all call sites. Regression tests in tests/bugs-1656-1657.test.cjs guard both fixes. Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: sort runtime list alphabetically after Claude Code - Claude Code stays pinned at position 1 - Remaining 10 runtimes sorted A-Z: Antigravity(2), Augment(3), Codex(4), Copilot(5), Cursor(6), Gemini(7), Kilo(8), OpenCode(9), Trae(10), Windsurf(11) - Updated runtimeMap, allRuntimes, and prompt display in promptRuntime() - Updated multi-runtime-select, kilo-install, copilot-install tests to match Also fix #1656 regression test: run build-hooks.js in before() hook so hooks/dist/ is populated on CI (directory is gitignored; build runs via prepublishOnly before publish, not during npm ci). fix: replace /gsd: slash command format with /gsd- skill format in all user-facing content (#1579)
* fix: replace /gsd: command format with /gsd- skill format in all suggestions All next-step suggestions shown to users were still using the old colon format (/gsd:xxx) which cannot be copy-pasted as skills. Migrated all occurrences across agents/, commands/, get-shit-done/, docs/, README files, bin/install.js (hardcoded defaults for claude runtime), and get-shit-done/bin/lib/*.cjs (generate-claude-md templates and error messages). Updated tests to assert new hyphen format instead of old colon format. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: migrate remaining /gsd: format to /gsd- in hooks, workflows, and sdk Addresses remaining user-facing occurrences missed in the initial migration: - hooks/: fix 4 user-facing messages (pause-work, update, fast, quick) and 2 comments in gsd-workflow-guard.js - get-shit-done/workflows/: fix 21 Skill() literal calls that Claude executes directly (installer does not transform workflow content) - sdk/prompt-sanitizer.ts: update regex to strip /gsd- format in addition to legacy /gsd: format; update JSDoc comment - tests/: update autonomous-ui-steps, prompt-sanitizer to assert new format Note: commands/gsd/*.md frontmatter (name: gsd:xxx) intentionally unchanged — installer derives skillName from directory path, not the name field. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(plan-phase): preserve --chain flag in auto-advance sync and handle ui-phase gate in chain mode Bug 1: step 15 sync-flag check only guarded against --auto, causing _auto_chain_active to be cleared when plan-phase is invoked without --auto in ARGUMENTS even though a --chain pipeline was active. Added --chain to the guard condition, matching discuss-phase behaviour. Bug 2: UI Design Contract gate (step 5.6) always exited the workflow when UI-SPEC was missing, breaking the discuss --chain pipeline silently. When _auto_chain_active is true, the gate now auto-invokes gsd-ui-phase --auto via Skill() and continues to step 6 without prompting. Manual invocations retain the existing AskUserQuestion flow. * fix: remove /clear pattern and duplicate old-format command in discuss-phase.md --------- Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

fix(agents): instruct executor/planner to use available MCP tools (#1603)
* fix(agents): explicitly instruct agents to use available MCP tools GSD executor and planner agents were not mentioning available MCP servers in their task instructions, causing subagents to skip Context7 and other configured MCP tools even when available. Closes #1388 * fix(tests): make copilot executor tool assertion dynamic Hardcoded tools: ['read', 'edit', 'execute', 'search'] assertion broke when mcp__context7__* was added to gsd-executor.md frontmatter. Replace with per-tool presence checks so adding new tools never breaks the test. feat(autonomous): add --interactive flag for lean context with user input
The autonomous workflow previously had two extremes: full auto-answer mode (--auto discuss, lean context but no user input) or manager mode (interactive but bloated context from accumulating everything inline). The --interactive flag bridges this gap: - Discuss runs inline via gsd:discuss-phase (asks questions, waits for user answers — preserving all design decisions) - Plan and execute dispatch as background agents (fresh context per phase — no accumulation in the main session) - Pipeline parallelism: discuss Phase N+1 while Phase N builds in the background This keeps the main context lean (only discuss conversations accumulate) while preserving user input on all decisions. Particularly helpful for users hitting context limits with /gsd:manager on multi-phase milestones. Usage: /gsd:autonomous --interactive /gsd:autonomous --interactive --from 3 /gsd:autonomous --interactive --only 5 Also adds --only N flag parsing to the upstream workflow (previously only in PR #1444's branch). - YAML frontmatter with name, argument-hint, allowed-tools
- objective block documents flag semantics with literal-token enforcement pattern
- execution_context references docs-update.md workflow
- context block passes $ARGUMENTS and documents flag derivation rules
- --force takes precedence over --verify-only when both present
* feat(03-02): extend docs-update workflow with preservation_check, monorepo dispatch, and verify-only
- preservation_check step between resolve_modes and detect_runtime_capabilities
- preservation_check skips on --force, --verify-only, or no hand-written docs
- per-file AskUserQuestion choice: preserve/supplement/regenerate with fallback default to preserve
- dispatch_monorepo_packages step after collect_wave_2 for per-package READMEs
- verify_only_report early-exit step with VERIFY marker count and Phase 4 deferral message
- preservation_mode field added to all doc_assignment blocks in dispatch_wave_1, dispatch_wave_2

* feat(04-01): create gsd-doc-verifier agent with claim extraction and filesystem verification
- YAML frontmatter with name, description, tools, and color fields
- claim_extraction section with 5 categories: file paths, commands, API endpoints, functions, dependencies
- skip_rules section for VERIFY markers, placeholders, example prefixes, and diff blocks
- verification_process with 6 steps using filesystem tools only (no self-consistency checks)
- output_format with exact JSON shape per D-01
- critical_rules enforcing filesystem-only verification and read-only operation
* feat(04-01): add fix_mode to gsd-doc-writer with surgical correction instructions
- Add fix_mode section after supplement_mode in modes block
- Document fix mode as valid option in role block mode list
- Add failures field to doc_assignment fields (fix mode only)
- fix_mode enforces surgical precision: only correct listed failing lines
- VERIFY marker fallback when correct value cannot be determined
* test(04-03): add docs-init integration test suite
- 13 tests across 4 describe blocks covering JSON output shape, project type
detection, existing doc scanning, GSD marker detection, and doc tooling
- Tests use node:test + node:assert/strict with beforeEach/afterEach lifecycle
- All 13 tests pass with `node --test tests/docs-update.test.cjs`
* feat(04-02): add verify_docs, fix_loop, scan_for_secrets steps to docs-update workflow
- verify_docs step spawns gsd-doc-verifier per generated doc and collects structured JSON results
- fix_loop step bounded at 2 iterations with regression detection (D-05/D-06)
- scan_for_secrets step uses exact map-codebase grep pattern before commit (D-07/D-08)
- verify_only_report updated to invoke real gsd-doc-verifier instead of VERIFY marker count stub
- success_criteria updated with 4 new verification gate checklist items
* docs(04-02): complete verification gate workflow steps plan
- SUMMARY.md: verify_docs, fix_loop, scan_for_secrets, and updated verify_only_report
- STATE.md: advanced to ready_for_verification, 100% progress, decisions logged
- ROADMAP.md: phase 4 marked Complete (3/3 plans with SUMMARYs)
- REQUIREMENTS.md: VERF-01, VERF-02, VERF-03 all marked complete
* refactor(profiles): Adds 'gsd-doc-verifier' to the 'MODEL_PROFILES'
* feat(agents): Add critical rules for file creation and update install test
* docs(05): create phase plan for docs output refinement
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat(05-01): make scanExistingDocs recursive into docs/ subdirectories
- Replace flat docs/ scan with recursive walkDir helper (MAX_DEPTH=4)
- Add SKIP_DIRS filtering at every level of recursive walk
- Add fallback to documentation/ or doc/ when docs/ does not exist
- Update JSDoc to reflect recursive scanning behavior
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat(05-01): update gsd-doc-writer default path guidance to docs/
- Change "No tooling detected" guidance to default to docs/ directory
- Add README.md and CONTRIBUTING.md as root-level exceptions
- Add instruction to create docs/ directory if it does not exist
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat(05-02): invert path table to default docs to docs/ directory
- Invert resolve_modes path table: docs/ is primary for all types except readme and contributing
- Add mkdir -p docs/ instruction before agent dispatch
- Update all downstream path references: collect_wave_1, collect_wave_2, commit_docs, report, verify tables
- Update sequential_generation wave_1_outputs and resolved path references
- Update success criteria and verify_only_report examples to use docs/ paths
* feat(05-02): add CONTRIBUTING confirmation gate and existing doc review queue
- Add CONTRIBUTING.md user confirmation prompt in build_doc_queue (skipped with --force or when file exists)
- Add review_queue for non-canonical existing docs (verification only, not rewriting)
- Add review_queue verification in verify_docs step with fix_loop exclusion
- Add existing doc accuracy review section to report step with manual correction guidance
* docs(05-02): complete path table inversion and doc queue improvements plan
- Add 05-02-SUMMARY.md with execution results
- Update STATE.md with position, decisions, and metrics
- Update ROADMAP.md with phase 05 plan progress
* fix(05): replace plain text y/n prompts with AskUserQuestion in docs-update workflow
Three prompts were using plain text (y/n) instead of GSD's standard
AskUserQuestion pattern: CONTRIBUTING.md confirmation, doc queue
proceed gate, and secrets scan confirmation.

* feat(05): structure-aware paths, non-canonical doc fixes, and gap detection
- resolve_modes now inspects existing doc directory structure and places
new docs in matching subdirectories (e.g., docs/architecture/ if that
pattern exists), instead of dumping everything flat into docs/
- Non-canonical docs with inaccuracies are now sent to gsd-doc-writer
in fix mode for surgical corrections, not just reported
- Added documentation gap detection step that scans the codebase for
undocumented areas and prompts user to create missing docs
- Added type: custom support to gsd-doc-writer with template_custom
section for gap-detected documentation

* fix(05): smarter structure-aware path resolution for grouped doc directories
When a project uses grouped subdirectories (docs/architecture/,
docs/api/, docs/guides/), ALL canonical docs must be placed in
appropriate groups — none left flat in docs/. Added resolution
chain per doc type with fallback creation. Filenames now match
existing naming style (lowercase-kebab vs UPPERCASE). Queue
presentation shows actual resolved paths, not defaults.

* fix(05): restore mode resolution table as primary queue presentation
The table showing resolved paths, modes, and sources for each doc
must be displayed before the proceed/abort confirmation. It was
replaced by a simple list — now restored as the canonical queue view.

* fix(05): use table format for existing docs review queue presentation
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat(05): add work manifest for structured handoffs between workflow steps
Root cause from smoke test: orchestrator forgot to verify 45 non-canonical
docs because the review_queue had no structural scaffolding — it existed
only in orchestrator memory. Fix:
1. Write docs-work-manifest.json to .planning/tmp/ after resolve_modes
with all canonical_queue, review_queue, and gap_queue items
2. Every subsequent step (dispatch, collect, verify, fix_loop, report)
MUST read the manifest first — single source of truth
3. Restructured verify_docs into explicit Phase 1 (canonical) and
Phase 2 (non-canonical) with separate dispatch for each
4. Both queues now eligible for fix_loop corrections
5. Added manifest read instructions to all dispatch/collect steps
Follows the same pattern as execute-phase's phase-plan-index for
tracking work items across multi-step orchestration.

* docs(05): update workflow purpose to reflect full command scope
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
* refactor(05): remove redundant steps from docs-update workflow
- Remove validate_agents step (if command is available, agents are installed)
- Remove agents_installed/missing_agents extraction from init_context
- Remove available_agent_types block (agent types specified in each Task call)
- Remove detect_runtime_capabilities step (runtime knows its own tools)
- Replace hardcoded flat paths in collect_wave_1/2 with manifest resolved_paths
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(05): restore available_agent_types section required by test suite
Test enforces that workflows spawning named agents must declare them
in an <available_agent_types> block. Added back with both gsd-doc-writer
and gsd-doc-verifier listed.

test: add secure-phase validation suite (42 tests)
Covers gsd-security-auditor agent, secure-phase command/workflow, SECURITY.md template, config defaults, VALIDATION.md columns, and threat-model-anchored behaviour assertions. Also fixes copilot-install.test.cjs expected agent list to include gsd-security-auditor — hardcoded list was missing the new agent. All 1500 tests pass, 0 failures.
