* feat(#1914): OpenCode native plugin integration (Option 1 file-copy)
Ship a native OpenCode plugin (.opencode/plugins/gsd-core.js) plus the
installer step that delivers it, so GSD's lifecycle hooks run on OpenCode.
OpenCode declares hooksSurface:'none', so GSD's hook scripts already ship to
<configDir>/hooks/ but nothing invokes them; the plugin bridges OpenCode's
event bus onto those scripts as subprocesses (prompt/read/worktree/workflow
guards, injection scanner, context monitor).
Distribution is Option 1 (file copy) per the #1914 triage decision: no
scripts.build rename, no prepare/prepack removal. package.json gains
main + .opencode in files[] for discovery.
Corrected against OpenCode's docs + loader source (not the reference branch):
- Auto-discovery globs {plugin,plugins}/*.{ts,js} — .cjs is never matched, so
the installed adapter must be .js (config dir carries {"type":"commonjs"}).
- No opencode.json plugin-array patch — that array is npm-only; local files
are auto-discovered.
- REPO_ROOT is resolved by walking up to the dir holding hooks/ + gsd-core/,
correct for package tree, global install, and local install.
- Config-hook registration is gated (IS_PACKAGE_TREE) so it never
double-registers commands/agents/skills already delivered by native copy.
Also fixes an incidental .gitignore drift: 8 ADR-1239 .cts-generated .cjs
artifacts were untracked-and-not-ignored (leak risk) — now ignored.
Tests: tests/opencode-plugin-adapter.test.cjs (14, pure helpers + real
subprocess bridge against stub hooks); golden-install-parity regenerated.
Green on Mac + Linux (gsd-test): 0 failures.

* fix(#1914): harden OpenCode plugin export shape + advisory accumulation (adversarial findings)
Address Codex adversarial-review findings:
- HIGH: export `{ id, server }` could trip OpenCode's loader
(`for (entry of Object.values(mod)) getServerPlugin(entry)` throws on a
non-extractable value). Make `id` NON-ENUMERABLE and assign module.exports
from a variable (not a literal) so no string `id` is ever iterated — verified
loader-safe under real import(pathToFileURL) (default + module.exports alias,
both objects with .server; no bare id string).
- MEDIUM: sequential advisory hooks clobbered output.metadata._gsdAdvisory;
now accumulate into an array.
- LOW: resolveRepoRoot fallback returned ".." while the comment said "../.." —
aligned to "../.." (package-tree depth).
Tests: added a faithful loader-loop emulation (raw CJS + ESM namespace views),
advisory-accumulation, and a real bin/install.js copy→manifest→uninstall
integration test. golden regenerated.

* fix(#1914): Windows — assert rewritten path with string include, not path-regex
The Read content-rewrite test built a RegExp from `path.join(root,'gsd-core')`.
On Windows the backslashes in the path are interpreted as regex escapes, so the
assertion never matched and `test (windows-latest, 24)` failed — even though the
adapter rewrote the path correctly. Replace the RegExp with a separator-agnostic
`String.includes` check (the repo's no-path-literal-in-assert concern).

Add .claude-plugin/marketplace.json so Claude-plugin-compatible runtimes
(ZCODE et al.) discover gsd-core from a custom marketplace source. The
canonical version lives at plugins[0].version and tracks package.json via
the release version-sync.
Refactor scripts/sync-manifest-versions.cjs so VERSIONED_MANIFESTS entries
are {path, versionKey} dot-path descriptors (default 'version'); register
marketplace.json with versionKey 'plugins.0.version'. getByPath/setByPath
reject __proto__/constructor/prototype (prototype-pollution guard).
plugin.json / gemini-extension.json behavior is unchanged.

* feat(#1681): ADR-1239 Phase C-2 — gsd-mcp-server bin entry + lifecycle test [slice 3b]
Phase 4 slice 3b (closes#1681). The companion MCP server bin entry so any
MCP-consuming host connects via 'npx gsd-mcp-server' (or its bin on PATH) and
gets GSD command (point 1) + state IO (point 5) with no bespoke plugin.
- gsd-core/bin/gsd-mcp-server.cjs: #!/usr/bin/env node shim requiring
./lib/mcp-server.cjs + runServer({stdin, stdout}); non-zero exit on fatal
error (justified n/no-process-exit disable). Mirrors gsd-tools.cjs.
- package.json: add 'gsd-mcp-server' bin entry.
- tests/gsd-mcp-server-bin.test.cjs: 3 process-lifecycle tests — initialize +
tools/list round-trip + clean exit, malformed-line -> parse error + server
keeps running, empty stdin -> clean exit. Synchronous spawnSync (bounded;
server exits on stdin EOF, no orphan).
Phase 4 trust-gate (#1806) + loader wiring (#1808) + server module (#1809) +
this bin/lifecycle slice = all of #1681's deliverables. Concrete host binding ->
Phase 5 (#1682). npm-integrity + eslint + security + inventory all clean.
* docs(#1681)+chore(changeset): how-to for the companion MCP server + Added fragment
docs/how-to/connect-gsd-mcp-server.md — Diataxis how-to guide for connecting
any MCP-capable host to gsd-mcp-server: goal-oriented flow (add config → restart
→ verify), real-world per-host conditionals, troubleshooting, and a trimmed
reference table. Explanation/reference linked out (ADR-1239, capability-trust-
model) per Diataxis boundary rules rather than mixed in.
.changeset/humble-seals-rest.md — type: Added (first user-reachable surface of
the epic: a new bin command). The how-to doc satisfies the docs-required gate.
* fix(#1681): move gsd-mcp-server shim to top-level bin/ (out of the runtime-copied tree)
The shim at gsd-core/bin/gsd-mcp-server.cjs was inside the tree the installer
copies into every runtime config dir, so it leaked into all 16 runtimes and
broke golden-install-parity. The MCP server is a PACKAGE bin the host spawns
(npx gsd-mcp-server), not a per-runtime artifact — so it belongs at top-level
bin/ alongside install.js (which is also never copied into a runtime config).
- gsd-core/bin/gsd-mcp-server.cjs -> bin/gsd-mcp-server.js (require path now
../gsd-core/bin/lib/mcp-server.cjs).
- package.json: bin entry -> bin/gsd-mcp-server.js.
- tests/gsd-mcp-server-bin.test.cjs: SHIM path updated.
- eslint.config.mjs: add bin/gsd-mcp-server.js to the bin/install.js block
(drops the n/no-process-exit disable — the n plugin isn't loaded for that
block, so the disable referenced an undefined rule).
golden-install-parity 16/16 restored; lifecycle + unit tests green; eslint 0;
lint:ci all ok.
* feat(#1754): CLI version-skew detection — warn when a global install shadows project-local GSD
Addresses #1754 (approved-enhancement). Detects when the running gsd-tools.cjs
is outside the project root while a project-local install exists — the shadowing
scenario from #1748 where a stale global canary CLI (retired @gsd-build/sdk)
silently overrides project-local GSD.
Implementation (Node CLI entry-point, not shell snippet — avoids bloating 93
workflow files past their size caps):
- src/cli-skew-check.cts: pure function checkCliSkew({resolvedPath, projectRoot,
projectLocalExists}) → string|null. Compares paths via path.relative; returns
a warning when the resolved CLI is outside the project root AND a project-local
install exists. Includes @gsd-build/sdk removal hint when the path matches.
No I/O (pure), no gsd-sdk literal (avoids bug-2801 lint).
- gsd-core/bin/gsd-tools.cjs: wired at startup via the existing findProjectRoot
resolver. Non-blocking (try/catch; advisory stderr warning, never gates).
- eslint.config.mjs: registers the new ADR-457 generated artifact in the ignores.
- tests: 6-case suite (skew/no-skew/legacy/normalization); all green.
- Golden fixtures regenerated (UPDATE_GOLDEN=1) for the new compiled artifact.
- docs/how-to/update-gsd.md: Diátaxis reference note for the skew warning.
Full suite: 3354 pass, 0 regressions (1 pre-existing local AGENTS.md failure).
lint:ci green.

* feat(#1684): add negotiated host-integration interface module
ADR-1239 Phase A: a pure, additive, no-I/O module exposing PROTOCOL_VERSION, the 8-axis HOST_INTEGRATION_AXES closed vocabulary, the UNDOCUMENTED fail-closed sentinel, negotiateHostCapabilities (effective subset of host-declared and engine-known), a typed degradation ladder, and host-capability profiles.

* fix(#1684): harden dispatch negotiation edge cases
Code-review hardening: treat NaN/Infinity maxDepth as missing (fail-closed, +warning); reset nested/background when namedDispatch collapses to false (struct consistency); SAFE_DEFAULTS dispatch floor to read-only; warn on non-finite protocolVersion; symmetric undocumented warnings for dispatch fields. * feat(#323): fish-shell support in post-install PATH suggestion
Two additive changes to the post-install PATH-suggestion seam, both scoped
to existing functions.
A. Projection: add a fish entry to the persist-mode shell-action list in
projectPathActionProjection() (src/shell-command-projection.cts). fish has
no `export`/`$PATH`-list syntax, so the existing zsh/bash `export PATH=...`
commands are inert when pasted. The new entry emits the fish-native
`fish_add_path '<dir>'` (fish 3.2+, persists via the universal-variable
store, de-duplicating). The directory is single-quoted with the same POSIX
literal escaping as the zsh/bash siblings; verified round-tripping through
real fish 3.7.0 for paths containing quotes, spaces, `$`, `*`, backticks
and unicode.
B. Detection: add homePathCoveredByFishConfig() in bin/install.js, called
from maybeSuggestPathExport() alongside homePathCoveredByRc(). fish does
not use sh-style `export PATH=` rc files, so a fish user whose
fish_user_paths already covers the global bin would otherwise get a
false-positive "not on your PATH" warning on every install. Two
side-effect-free detection routes (no fish subprocess):
1. The universal-variable store (~/.config/fish/fish_variables). fish
serializes this with `full_escape`: every byte outside [A-Za-z0-9/_]
becomes `\xHH` (space -> \x20, `-` -> \x2d, `.` -> \x2e, `$` -> \x24,
unicode -> \uXXXX) and list elements are joined by the literal 4-char
token `\x1e` (NOT a raw 0x1e byte). The detector splits on `\x1e`,
decodes the escapes, then compares each as an absolute literal — a
decoded `$` is part of the directory name, not an unexpanded variable.
Verified against real fish 3.7.0 output.
2. config.fish (`fish_add_path`, `set -gx PATH`, `set -Ux fish_user_paths`)
— plain shell tokens: HOME forms ($HOME/${HOME}/~) are expanded and a
token still holding `$` (e.g. `$PATH`, `$fish_user_paths`) is skipped.
Honours $XDG_CONFIG_HOME and always also checks ~/.config/fish.
No behaviour change for bash/zsh/PowerShell/cmd/Git-Bash users: their entries
and command strings are unchanged; the fish entry is additive and the fish
detector only narrows the set of cases that warn.
Tests: update the projection length assertion (2 -> 3) and fish escaping in
bug-3441; add fish detection + suppression cases in install-path-detection
(uvar store with real fish escaping, dot/hyphen/space/$-literal decode
regressions, config.fish routes, commented-out, relative-segment guard,
unreadable-file fault injection, suppression and emission via
maybeSuggestPathExport).

* fix(#323): address review — action-only fish docs, decoder property test, win32 guard
Addresses @trek-e's review on #727:
- docs (blocker): keep the how-to action-only (Diátaxis). Drop the
`# fish — persists via …` comment and the internal-mechanism clause
naming fish_variables/config.fish; leave one command + the exec-fish
directive.
- tests (minor): extract decodeFishUniversalValue to a pure, exported
module function and add fast-check round-trip properties
(decode(fishEscape(p)) === p over arbitrary unicode, abs-path variant,
totality). Consolidated into install-path-detection.test.cjs to respect
the install test-file-count ratchet.
- tests (follow-up): port #721's win32 negative-projection test (no fish
action on win32; persist projection is PowerShell/cmd.exe/Git Bash).

* feat(#1435): capability matrix (generated + drift-guarded) + trust-model doc consolidation
ADR-1244 Phase 6. Adds the capability matrix reference, generated FROM the committed registry so it
can never drift from the actual capability set:
- scripts/gen-capability-matrix.cjs (--write / --check); --check is a CI drift guard.
- tests/capability-matrix-sync.test.cjs (4 tests): drift guard, buildMatrix==committed, every cap
present, no placeholders.
- docs/reference/capability-matrix.md regenerated from the registry (release-stable: shows engines.gsd,
omits the lockstep per-cap version that would churn the file every release).
- Consolidated the duplicate trust-model doc: deleted docs/explanation/the-capability-trust-model.md,
merged its content into capability-trust-model.md, redirected ~10 references; no stale links remain.
- Diataxis verification (now that gsd capability is a real command): corrected the matrix's third-party
section — the matrix is the first-party catalogue; the overlay-aware view of installed third-party
capabilities is 'gsd capability list', not this generated file.

* feat(#1430): versioned capability manifest + native stamping (ADR-1244 Phase 1)
Make the capability manifest versioned — the data substrate the Capability
Ecosystem (ADR-1244) keys off:
- capability.json gains a REQUIRED semver `version` plus the optional
ecosystem envelope (`engines.gsd`, `compatVersions`, `integrity`,
`provenance`); the build-time conformance validator enforces them via a new
`validateVersionEnvelope()` (exported for the Phase 2 runtime overlay).
- All 32 native capabilities stamped with `version` (= package version,
lockstep) + `engines.gsd`; `sync-manifest-versions.cjs` gains a glob sweep
that keeps them in sync, and the issue-844 regression guard is extended.
- Strict SemVer 2.0.0 grammar blocks metacharacter/space/unicode smuggling in
version strings; range/integrity fields are shape-validated (satisfaction
and the load-time gate are deferred to Phase 2/4).
- Capability rel-paths emitted forward-slash for cross-platform git correctness.

- Fix quoted warning text in how-to doc to exactly match the emitted string: [agent-skills] WARNING: Plugin-namespaced skill "global:<name>" requires a Skill-tool-capable runtime (claude) — skipping on runtime "<runtime>"
- Replace phantom agent slugs (gsd-checker, gsd-researcher, gsd-advisor, gsd-synthesizer) in CONFIGURATION.md Supported Agent Types with real agents/gsd-*.md examples (gsd-plan-checker, gsd-phase-researcher, gsd-code-reviewer, gsd-ui-auditor, gsd-research-synthesizer)

Edge-probe now surfaces a zero-classification requirement (non-empty prose, no
shape cue matched, no `shapes` override) as a single soft `unclassified — review
manually` candidate instead of silently dropping it — the exact blind spot the
probe exists to catch. Dismissible like any edge; the `shapes: []` opt-out stays
silent; `TAXONOMY` (the closed 8 categories) is unchanged. Under `--auto` the
candidate is left `unresolved`, never auto-`backstop` (a missing shape is not
evidence an edge exists).

* feat(#1190): wire --converge primary surface into /gsd:progress --next (ADR-15)

* feat(#1213): Capability State Writer — write-side inverse of the resolver
Adds src/capability-writer.cts (setCapabilityState + cmdCapabilitySet) and the
`gsd-tools capability set` subcommand: the write-side inverse of the capability
resolver (ADR-1213). One desired capability state projects onto the substrates —
`enabled` drives the runtime surface (canonical on/off), `gates` drive federated
config keys (hook granularity), install profile is a read-only floor — then
re-resolves and reports divergence (assert-and-report), so "off means off" holds
as a write-time invariant. Adds batched setConfigValues; routes gsd:settings
capability hook-gates through the writer. Docs: CLI-TOOLS reference, how-to,

* feat(#956): add MemPalace memory capability (ADR-857 feature plug-in)
Adds an opt-in, default-resilient ADR-857 feature capability that wires
MemPalace (local-first memory: MCP server + CLI) into the GSD loop:
deliberate recall before discuss/plan and verbatim + temporal-KG capture
at phase boundaries. Three memory modes (augment default; kg_backend and
replace forward-declared). Master gate mempalace.enabled (default off);
every hook onError:skip, zero gates; absent/disabled MemPalace => loop
unchanged. Transport is rendered-markdown only — MemPalace runs
out-of-process, no third-party code in gsd-core (ADR-857 §7).
Capability: capabilities/mempalace/ (manifest + 2 fragments), skills
commands/gsd/mempalace-{recall,capture}.md, agent
agents/gsd-mempalace-curator.md. Registration: ns-context router,
utility cluster, KNOWN_SKILLS, help full.md, model-catalog, copilot
install list, size baselines; regenerated capability-registry +
inventory manifest. ship:post wired into ship.md (wire-on-demand).
HELD on #1196: this capability also declares hooks at discuss:pre and
discuss:post, which are structurally un-wireable until the host-loop
conformance model covers the discuss phase (discuss-phase.md is not in
HOST_LOOP_FILES). The phase6-capstone-conformance gate therefore fails
on exactly those two orphaned points by design — see #1196. Once #1196
lands, rebase onto next and the gate goes green with no further change.

tier (haiku) false-passed 50% of tie-class defects against the surfaced-
unresolved spec; naming the rule in the probe text drove honest abstention
83%→100% (false-pass 17%→0%, haiku 50%→0%) with no category regression
(precision still fires only on numeric-range).
Sharpen the single TAXONOMY probe string and update every rendering together so
the doc↔fixture↔machine contract (edge-probe-docs-fixtures.test.cjs) stays green:
src/edge-probe.cts, the edge-probe.md taxonomy table + 2 worked examples, the
01-round-half-even and 04-money-rounding fixtures, and the resolve-edge-coverage
how-to. Prose-only — no consumer keys on the probe text; SHAPE_CUES firing
unchanged; fully backward compatible.
* chore(changeset): Changed fragment for edge-probe precision probe text (#1108)
* feat(spec-phase): spec-completeness edge-probe (#550) — relocated to gsd-core/
Rebased onto current next and relocated the whole feature from get-shit-done/ to
gsd-core/ per #615 (trek-e re-review #4, option 1). The artifact now builds to
gsd-core/bin/lib/edge-probe.cjs; all hard-coded path strings (tests, workflow
@-refs, run-tests.cjs sentinel, eslint ADR-457 ignore, .gitignore) updated.
Content conflicts in .gitignore / eslint.config.mjs / run-tests.cjs resolved.
Feature: Step 5.5 edge-completeness probe walks each SPEC requirement against a
closed 8-category edge taxonomy, proposes applicable candidate edges, and resolves
each (covered/dismissed/backstop/unresolved). covered/backstop criteria are lifted
by plan-phase into must_haves.truths, extending the goal-backward verifier's reach
to boundary edges no requirement was written for. Engine authored as strict TS
(src/edge-probe.cts, ADR-457), compiled to the gitignored gsd-core/bin/lib/edge-probe.cjs.
Folds in every prior review round on PR #584:
- RR-01..03: plan-phase resolves the phase *-SPEC.md and injects {SPEC_PATH} into the
planner; must_haves<->Edge-Coverage quality_gate; held-out planner-contract test.
- RR-04/11: Step 5.5 invokes the compiled engine at runtime (npm --prefix-pinned,
source-checkout-gated build fallback) instead of LLM re-derivation; the engine
capture is exit-checked and the report JSON-validated before use (fail closed).
- RR-05..10: all six fixtures embedded + count-equality; backstop/covered require a
resolution; Array.isArray(shapes); duplicate-resolution rejection; CLI JSON exit(2);
per-artifact build sentinel.
- Authored-shape validation: invalid (non-empty) shapes fail closed (VALID_SHAPES).
- Adversarial-review hardening: orphan/typo resolution rejection, requirement input
validation (id/text/shapes, duplicate id, non-array), zero-applicable guard.
Full suite 0 failures; npm run lint 0 errors; edge-probe suite 72/72.
* test(#550): RED — status×verification re-cut + probe-core engine specs
Re-cut the edge-probe resolution model onto two orthogonal axes per
ADR-550 Decision 7 (trek-e #644 comments 2026-06-03 14:36 + 14:44):
status: resolved | dismissed | unresolved (lifecycle, shared)
verification: explicit | backstop | null (only when resolved)
- tests/probe-core.test.cjs (new): behavioral specs for the generic engine
to be extracted — validateResolution(r, validators), validateRequirement,
analyzeCoverage(items, resolutions?, validators), byVerification rollup,
runProbeCli I/O scaffold (injected-io unit tests).
- tests/edge-probe.test.cjs: covered→{resolved,explicit}, backstop→
{resolved,backstop}; coverage gains byVerification.{explicit,backstop};
proposeEdges items gain verification:null.
- 6 fixtures re-genned + re-embedded in edge-probe.md; coverage.resolved
COUNT preserved on every fixture (closed set = resolved+dismissed; doc
line: 'adjacency=covered + ordering=dismissed' -> 2). edge-probe.md prose
rewritten to the two-axis model.
Fails as expected: probe-core.cjs has no source yet; edge-probe still
emits the old covered/backstop enum (27/61 edge specs red).
* feat(#550): extract probe-core seam + refactor edge-probe onto it (ADR-550 D7)
Extract the generic resolution model into src/probe-core.cts (the shared
seam the prohibition probe #644 is born on) and refactor edge-probe.cts
into its first adapter.
probe-core owns (probe-agnostic):
- the status×verification re-cut: status: resolved|dismissed|unresolved ×
verification: <probe-defined>|null
- validateResolution(r, validators) / validateRequirement (generic id+text)
- analyzeCoverage(items, resolutions?, validators) over ALREADY-PROPOSED
items[] (core never assumes propose is deterministic — edge resolves via
LLM, #644 proposes via LLM), with merge / dup-reject / orphan-reject
- byVerification rollup; coverage.resolved = closed set (resolved+dismissed),
count-preserved from the pre-re-cut engine
- runProbeCli I/O scaffold (injected io; one bin per probe)
- hybrid typing: generic params + injected runtime validators
{categories, verification, requiredFieldsByVerification} (ADR-550 #5)
edge-probe keeps ONLY the edge cluster: Shape/SHAPE_CUES/VALID_SHAPES/
classifyShape/TAXONOMY/applicableCategories/proposeEdges + EDGE_VALIDATORS
{explicit,backstop}; delegates merge/rollup/CLI to probe-core. Every shipped
#584 guarantee preserved (fail-closed shapes, orphan/dup rejection, input
validation, CLI exit 2). 104/104 edge+probe-core+docs+contract specs green.
* chore(#550): register probe-core.cjs artifact in ledgers + inventory
New gitignored build artifact gsd-core/bin/lib/probe-core.cjs (compiled
from src/probe-core.cts) needs registering in every artifact ledger:
- .gitignore + eslint.config.mjs ADR-457 ignore: lint the .cts source,
never the emitted .cjs.
- scripts/run-tests.cjs per-artifact build sentinel: build if probe-core.cjs
is missing on a clean checkout.
- docs/INVENTORY.md: CLI Modules 83 -> 84, new probe-core.cjs row, and the
edge-probe.cjs row updated to reflect it is now the first probe-core adapter.
- docs/INVENTORY-MANIFEST.json: regenerated (gen-inventory-manifest.cjs --write).
probe-core.test.cjs is a single test file (under the 2-file cap), so no
lint-test-file-count allowlist entry is needed.
* docs(adr-550): spec-phase probe pattern + prohibition contract [Accepted]
trek-e's final ADR-550 body, verbatim (open-gsd/gsd-core#644 comment
2026-06-03T15:23Z), Accepted by both maintainer and #550 author. Lands on
PR #584 alongside the probe-core extraction (Decision 7) it governs, so the
contract and its first implementation arrive together.
Decisions: probe packaging (3 layers); recall->precision protocol;
prohibition home = SPEC acceptance criteria + optional must_haves.prohibitions:
(truths untouched, no polarity); tiered verification test|judgment
(judgment = mode-dependent soft-gate-with-flags, never silent pass / never
hard-halt); CI tests the contract not the classifier; secure-phase ownership
seam; and Decision 7 — probe-core seam + status×verification re-cut (7a-7e),
which this PR implements.
* feat(#550): fail-closed probe-core across full status×verification + runProbeCli structural guard
Re-review #5 (trek-e) seam-hardening on the generic probe-core contract #644 inherits:
- validateResolution now enforces the 'verification is null unless resolved'
invariant for EVERY status (not just resolved): a dismissed/unresolved
resolution carrying a verification tier is rejected instead of merging verbatim.
- An unresolved resolution carrying a resolution/reason payload is rejected
(was silently dropped into the unresolved count).
- runProbeCli structurally validates the report an adapter returns before writing
it (was: any malformed object stringified as green output) — fails closed → exit 2.
- coverage.resolved kept count-preserved (closed set) per the blessed migration
contract; a new test locks that an all-dismissed run is NOT affirmatively covered
(byVerification is the honest gate).
Tests: probe-core 37/37; full edge-probe suite 113/113; full suite 1816/1816; lint 0.
* docs(adr-550): annotate Decision 5 #584/#644 scope + correct 7a coverage.resolved semantics
Re-review #5 (trek-e) clarity edits:
- Decision 5: annotate that only contract item (a) ships on #584 (the edge
adapter's parse+validate test); (b)–(d) are #644 scope, matching Consequences.
- Decision 7a: correct the 'coverage.resolved is preserved (status === resolved)'
parenthetical — the blessed/implemented semantics are count-preserved = the
CLOSED set (resolved + dismissed = applicable − unresolved), with byVerification
carrying the per-tier resolved-status breakdown. The old parenthetical
contradicted the shipped count.
* test(#550): cover runProbeCli structural-guard numeric-count branch
Second-pass coverage audit found the 'coverage object present but counts
non-numeric' branch of isValidReport (built probe-core.cjs:60-61) unexercised —
the {nope:true} malformed test fails earlier at the items[] check. Add a report
with well-formed items[] + a coverage object carrying non-numeric counts so the
numeric branch is hit. No source change; closes the line gap.
* fix(#550): reject edge requirement with missing/empty text when no shapes override (M2)
The edge adapter's `text` is the classification signal and a required field, but
core `validateRequirement` left it optional, so a `{ id }` requirement classified to
zero shapes -> zero edges -> was silently DROPPED from coverage with no signal -- the
exact fail-open this feature exists to eliminate. Reject missing/empty text unless an
authored `shapes` override (incl. `[]`) opts out of prose classification.
* fix(#550): validate verbatim items in analyzeCoverage shared seam (m1)
A proposed item with no matching author resolution is rolled up VERBATIM, but its own
status/fields were never validated -- an item carrying an out-of-enum status (the dropped
"covered") or `dismissed` without a reason would be counted closed. The edge adapter only
proposes `unresolved` items, but the prohibition adapter (#644) proposes LLM-generated
items that arrive populated. An Item is structurally a superset of a Resolution, so reuse
validateResolution to fail closed. ADR-550 Decision 5 hardens this shared seam.
* fix(#550): move edge-coverage lift instruction to runtime planner surface (M1)
templates/planner-subagent-prompt.md is loaded by nothing at runtime (no @-import in
agents/gsd-planner.md; plan-phase.md spawns the planner from its own inline
<planning_context>), so the precise covered/backstop -> must_haves.truths lift instruction
this PR added there never reached the planner -- and the RR-02 contract test asserted it in
that dead file, giving false green. Move the instruction into plan-phase.md's runtime
<downstream_consumer> block (where the rest of the wire already lives), revert the dead-template
edit, and retarget RR-02 to the loaded surface with a guard against re-orphaning.
* test(#550): lock machine<->SPEC vocabulary mapping against drift (m2)
The machine contract uses orthogonal status x verification; the SPEC table renders a flat
covered/dismissed/backstop/unresolved. The migration map (ADR-550 Decision 7a) was prose-only
with no test, so the layers could silently drift. The SPEC table is LLM-rendered (no JS
renderer to round-trip), so pin the canonical bijection as code AND ground it in every doc
surface that renders the vocabulary (ADR migration clause, spec.md legend, reference mapping
table) -- a rename or remap now fails the suite.
* docs(#550): add how-to for resolving edge-coverage findings (B1)
Feature shipped reference coverage (FEATURES.md, COMMANDS.md, references/edge-probe.md) but
no how-to -- reference-only does not satisfy the Diataxis docs standard for a user-facing
capability. Add a single-mode how-to (imperative, goal-directed) walking each resolution
state (specify/dismiss/backstop/defer), the soft gate, and --auto, with taxonomy/concepts
linked out to the reference. Register it in the docs/how-to index.
* docs(#550): add Probe Core + Edge Probe glossary entries to CONTEXT.md (N1)
trek-e re-review #7 N1 (Major): adding probe-core/edge-probe as src/*.cts-derived
seam modules (ADR-550 Decision 7) requires CONTEXT.md Domain-terms glossary entries
per the maintainer-enforced new-seam gate. Adds '### Probe Core Module' and
'### Edge Probe Module' with exports, generated source paths, and the ADR-550 seam
contract, placed beside the Research Module feature-seam entries.
* test(#550): add fast-check property suite for probe-core analyzeCoverage (N2)
trek-e re-review #7 N2 (RULESET.TESTS.property-based-testing): analyzeCoverage is a
transformation/rollup module, the class the property-testing predicate covers, and
fast-check is already a dependency with an established *.property.test.cjs pattern.
Adds 5 properties over the algebraic invariants: closed-set identity
(applicable === resolved + unresolved), byVerification sums ≤ resolved, per-tier
recount + resolved-status-only counting, rollup determinism, and stable orphan
rejection. 200 runs/seed 42 via helpers/fast-check-setup.cjs.
* test(#550): align allow-test-rule tokens to canonical runtime-contract-is-the-product (N3)
trek-e re-review #7 N3 (Nit): the // allow-test-rule: tokens (source-text-is-the-product,
docs-parity) differed from CONTEXT.md's canonical exemption category
'runtime-contract-is-the-product' (RULESET.TESTS.no-source-grep.exemption, CONTEXT.md:240).
All three tests assert deployed runtime-contract surfaces (spec-phase.md Step 5.5, the
plan-phase.md planner prompt, the rendered reference/SPEC/ADR vocabulary), so the canonical
category fits; each now carries a one-line justification per the ruleset format. Free-text
reason — lint behavior unchanged.
* test(#550): re-baseline plan-phase + spec-phase byte sizes for edge-probe
Rebased onto next (e4f0910d), which replaced the line-based tier-max
size ratchet (#597) with the byte-based per-file baseline guard (#1074).
The edge-probe feature legitimately grows two workflows:
- spec-phase.md 15131 -> 23094 (+7963): Step 5.5 Edge-Completeness Probe
- plan-phase.md 93135 -> 94253 (+1118): covered/backstop edge lift into
must_haves.truths (the live <downstream_consumer> block)
Both remain under their tier hard caps (plan-phase XL 98304, ~4KB
headroom; spec-phase DEFAULT 40960). Growth is real inline workflow
content the feature requires at that step — not eager @-import proxy
gaming. Drops the obsolete line-based XL_BUDGET 93000->94000 bump
(superseded by the byte baseline) via rebase.
* chore(#550): reconcile INVENTORY headline counts after rebase onto next
Rebase onto current next dropped the prior reconcile commit (stale counts
refs 68 / CLI 107). Current next + the edge-probe additions yield:
- References (68 -> 69 shipped): + gsd-core/references/edge-probe.md
- CLI Modules (107 -> 109 shipped): + edge-probe.cjs + probe-core.cjs
Rows for all three already present; only the headline counts were stale.
Caught by tests/inventory-counts.test.cjs (CI ubuntu-24 leg).
Fresh windsurf/devin-desktop workspace installs write skills under .devin/ (legacy .windsurf/ recognized); global ~/.codeium/windsurf/ unchanged. Also threads real isGlobal through _applyRuntimeRewrites so global skill content references the codeium path. Closes#1085.
windsurf now also answers to devin-desktop (CLI --devin-desktop) for the Windsurf→Devin Desktop rebrand; all paths unchanged. The .devin/skills/ workspace migration is split to #1085. Closes#792.
Address remaining review feedback on PR #743:
- Bump supported-runtime count 15 -> 16 across user-facing READMEs
(docs/README.md + ja-JP/zh-CN translations) now that Kimi is added.
- Add an explicit support-boundary note in the Kimi CLI install section:
the kimi --agent-file custom-agent contract targets legacy/Python
kimi-cli; newer npm Kimi Code (@moonshot-ai/kimi-code) rejects
--agent-file and consumes the same /skill:gsd-* skills via --skills-dir.
- Mirror the boundary in the changeset so release notes are unambiguous.
Historical ADR/changeset/INVENTORY references to '15 runtimes' are left
intact as point-in-time records.

* fix(#853): gate manager/autonomous bg dispatch by runtime
/gsd-manager and /gsd-autonomous --interactive dispatched Plan/Execute
via Agent(run_in_background=true). On Claude Code a backgrounded agent
has no Agent/Task tool, so it cannot spawn the nested subagents those
pipelines need — per-plan worktree-isolated executors, the plan-checker,
and the verifier. The phases reported complete but isolation and
independent verification silently never ran, even with use_worktrees /
plan_check / verifier enabled.
Both workflows now resolve the runtime (config-get runtime, default
claude) before dispatching: run plan/execute INLINE on Claude Code so
the nested pipeline runs, and background-dispatch only on runtimes where
a backgrounded agent can still nest. Mirrors execute-phase.md's existing
Codex fail-closed precedent. Reconciles the stale unconditional
background/overlap/lean-context claims elsewhere in both workflows and
in the docs. Adds a content regression test pinning the gate.

Diataxis review of the 1.4.0 content (52 changesets, multi-runtime maturation
plus native packaging and new flags) against the existing docs base found most
per-feature docs already landed with their PRs. Fill the four remaining gaps,
each in its Diataxis quadrant:
- Reference: FEATURES.md Feature #36 (Multi-Runtime Support) updated in place
with 1.4.0 additions — native skills emission (Cline/Kilo/OpenCode), new
slash-command surfaces (CodeBuddy/Augment/Cursor), cross-runtime lifecycle
hooks for context-headroom tracking, and the Gemini CLI extension package.
- Reference: CONFIGURATION.md gains a dedicated worktree.baseRef entry (values,
.claude/settings.local.json location, auto-set-on-install behaviour).
- How-to: plan-a-phase.md gains an 'override planning granularity for one phase'
section for the --granularity flag.
- Explanation: context-engineering.md gains a 'Lifecycle hooks and context
headroom' section (the why of lifecycle hooks + forked context), cross-linked
from multi-agent-orchestration.md.
Docs-only; documents already-shipped features, so no changeset required
(docs/ is not in the changeset-lint user-facing prefixes).

* feat(#770): register Claude Code lifecycle hooks (SubagentStop/Stop/PreCompact/FileChanged)
Wire three new context-tracking events (SubagentStop, Stop, PreCompact) to
gsd-context-monitor so context-headroom warnings surface at model-stop and
subagent-finalisation moments — not just on PostToolUse. Add a new
FileChanged hook (gsd-config-reload.js) that hot-reloads .planning/config.json
context mid-session when the user edits it, injecting a config summary as
hookSpecificOutput.additionalContext. Updates plugin manifest hooks.json,
managed-hooks-registry, installer-migration-report allowlist, and
shell-command-projection cleanup tables. Tests: 21 new assertions in
enh-770-claude-hook-events.test.cjs; enh-788 and issue-766 test suites updated.

* docs(#770): document newly-registered Claude Code lifecycle hooks
Add a Hook coverage table to the Claude Code npm installer section of
docs/how-to/install-on-your-runtime.md describing SubagentStop, Stop,
PreCompact, and the new FileChanged (gsd-config-reload.js) hook that
hot-reloads .planning/config.json mid-session. Also fixes the changeset
frontmatter (adds type: Added + pr: 821) so docs-lint can consume the
fragment.

* fix(#770): add gsd-config-reload.js to INVENTORY.md and regenerate manifest
The feat commit added hooks/gsd-config-reload.js but did not bump the
Hooks count in docs/INVENTORY.md (14→15) or add the new row, and did not
regenerate docs/INVENTORY-MANIFEST.json. Both inventory-counts and
inventory-manifest-sync tests failed across the full CI matrix.

* fix(#770): make lifecycle-hook tests deterministic on scoped runner
Replace the shared hooks/dist/ ensemble setup (ensureHooksDist /
teardownHooksDist) in the Claude hook tests with per-test isolation:
pre-populate each test's own tmpDir/.claude/hooks/ with stub files and
pass installerMigrations:[] to install() so the first-time-baseline
migration does not remove the stubs before the copy step can run.
Root cause: hooks/dist/ is gitignored and absent on a fresh npm ci.
ensureHooksDist() created it and teardownHooksDist() deleted it, but
with --test-concurrency=4 both test files ran concurrently as separate
Node.js worker processes sharing the same filesystem. One file's
afterEach teardown deleted hooks/dist/ while the other file's install()
was copying from it, producing an ENOENT (reproduced 2/10 runs locally).
The additional issue: even with pre-placed stubs surviving the copy race,
the 000-first-time-baseline migration classified hooks/gsd-*.js as
bundled-gsd-hook artifacts, auto-removed them, and the copy step never
re-ran (hooks/dist/ absent) — leaving contextMonitorFile missing and all
hook registrations silently skipped (the 'got: []' symptom).
Fix: pre-populate targetDir/hooks/ per-test (isolated temp dir) AND pass
installerMigrations:[] so the baseline scan is skipped. The Qwen suites
already used this pattern correctly; the Claude suites are aligned to it.

* fix(#770): ship gsd-config-reload.js by adding it to build-hooks HOOKS_TO_COPY
The #770 feature added hooks/gsd-config-reload.js and registered it in
MANAGED_HOOKS, the installer, INVENTORY, and the test EXPECTED_ALL_HOOKS
list — but never added it to scripts/build-hooks.js HOOKS_TO_COPY. As a
result the hook was never copied into hooks/dist/ during the build, so:
- the hook would never ship to users (real production bug — the
FileChanged config-reload feature was dead-on-arrival), and
- install-minimal-hooks.test.cjs #1755 ("all expected hooks are copied
from hooks/dist/ to target", ".js hooks are executable after copy",
"manifest contains .js hook entries") failed on any environment with
a clean checkout (no pre-existing hooks/dist/): coverage, full test
macos-22/macos-24, test ubuntu-24.
The failures were masked locally only by a stale hooks/dist/ left from a
prior build (build-hooks copies into dist without clearing it). On CI's
fresh `npm ci` there is no dist, so the omission surfaced.
Fix: add 'gsd-config-reload.js' to HOOKS_TO_COPY so build-hooks stages it
into hooks/dist/ alongside the other JS hooks. Verified by removing
hooks/dist/ and rerunning the full suite green (0 fail).

* fix(#770): make config prototype-pollution beforeEach deterministic on scoped runner
Root cause: the #663 and alert-#26 prototype-pollution describe blocks
seeded .planning/config.json in beforeEach via a bare
runGsdTools('config-ensure-section') whose result was discarded. That
command runs in a spawned gsd-tools child; on the scoped CI lane
(--test-concurrency=4, config.test.cjs scheduled alongside the heavy
install/tarball suites that #770 pulled into the targeted set) the child
can be transiently killed under resource pressure (non-zero exit, empty
stderr — an OS-level kill, not an app error). The swallowed failure left
config.json absent, so the first subtest's readConfig() threw ENOENT
opening <tmp>/.planning/config.json. Only 1 of 4 subtests failed,
confirming a per-invocation transient, not a deterministic miss; the full
suite schedules files differently so config.test.cjs did not collide with
those heavy neighbors → passed there.
Fix: add ensureConfigReady(tmpDir) which retries config-ensure-section on
ANY failure or missing file and throws a clear diagnostic if it still
cannot create config.json, then use it in both prototype-pollution
beforeEach blocks. Setup is now deterministic under load; the #663/alert-#26
security assertions are unchanged.

* feat(#776): Gemini hook events (BeforeAgent/AfterAgent/BeforeModel) + hooksConfig.enabled check
Register three new Gemini-CLI hook events on install:
- BeforeAgent: fires before agent planning; wired to gsd-context-monitor
- AfterAgent: fires after final response generation; wired to gsd-context-monitor
- BeforeModel: fires before each LLM call (per-turn); wired to gsd-context-monitor
All three reuse gsd-context-monitor.js (no new hook files). Uninstall cleanup
loop extended to remove the new events. Non-array guard added for robustness
against malformed settings.
Also detect hooksConfig.enabled:false in Gemini settings and emit a clear
warning — without this check, all registered hooks silently do nothing.

* feat(#789): elevate CodeBuddy — emit slash commands (+ document subagent/MCP scope)
Emit a CodeBuddy slash-command surface so GSD workflows appear in the
'/' menu, reaching parity with other elevated runtimes.
- Add convertClaudeCommandToCodebuddyCommand and register a commands/
artifact kind for the codebuddy runtime (commands/gsd-<name>.md),
consistent with the Cursor (#785) and Augment (#790) commands surfaces.
- Mark emitted skills user-invocable:false so the commands surface is the
sole '/' entry point (no duplicate /gsd-* entries); skills stay
model-invocable. CodeBuddy's SKILL.md supports this field.
- Normalize $HOME/.codebuddy (bare + slash) path forms in runtime
rewrites so --config-dir/local installs don't leak the default home.
- Report installed commands/ count on install; uninstall prunes gsd-*
commands while preserving user-owned commands.
Scope: subagents (~/.codebuddy/agents/) are already emitted by the
generic agents block (unchanged); no mcp.json is written (gsd ships no
MCP server, and CodeBuddy's mcp.json registers only external servers).

* feat(#778): cross-runtime command enrichment (Gemini {{args}}/!{}, Qwen priority)
Enrich the installer's per-runtime command/skill generators with native,
verified, additive fields:
- Gemini CLI: map Claude's $ARGUMENTS -> Gemini's {{args}} in generated TOML
commands so typed arguments interpolate; inject live .planning/STATE.md into
/gsd:progress via a fixed, injection-safe !{cat .planning/STATE.md 2>/dev/null}
shell block (no interpolated input).
- Qwen Code: emit the optional numeric `priority` field on main-loop skills so
the most-used workflows sort first in the /skills list (higher = earlier per
the Qwen skills spec; the issue's inverse numbering was corrected).
OpenCode per-command model/agent/subtask/variant enrichment was evaluated and
intentionally not implemented: `model` reintroduces the #1156
ProviderModelNotFoundError regression for non-Anthropic providers (the converter
deliberately strips model:), `subtask`/`agent` change execution semantics for
GSD's interactive commands, and `variant` is not in the OpenCode command schema.
Schemas verified against primary docs (Gemini custom-commands, Qwen skills,
OpenCode commands/skills). Adds tests/enh-778-* and how-to + USER-GUIDE docs.

* feat(#772): adopt stable Codex hook events + commandWindows for Windows parity
Register three new stable Codex hook events (SubagentStart, Stop,
PostToolUse) wired to gsd-context-monitor.js so Codex installs get
the same context-headroom tracking at subagent and session boundaries
that Claude/Qwen already have.
Add commandWindows field to the SessionStart hook entry on Windows so
Codex uses the .cmd shim directly (Git Bash/MSYS cannot POSIX-exec
node.exe). commandWindows is only emitted on win32; POSIX is unchanged.
Refactor reconcileCodexHooksJsonSessionStart into a generic
reconcileCodexHooksJsonEvent so any event name can be reconciled with
the same dedup/preserve-user-entries logic.
Add gsd-context-monitor.js and .cmd to MANAGED_HOOK_COMMAND_BASENAMES
_BY_SURFACE so idempotent re-runs de-duplicate entries correctly.
30 new tests covering: export surface, event registration for each of
the three events, commandWindows parity (POSIX vs win32), idempotency,
uninstall, and user-entry preservation.

* fix(#772): windows path normalization + docs-lint
- Normalize scriptPath backslashes to forward slashes in
ensureCodexHooksJsonEvent and ensureCodexHooksJsonSessionStart so that
isManagedHookCommand can match stored commands against configDir on
Windows CI runners. path.resolve returns backslash paths on Windows,
but when platform is not 'win32' (e.g. platform:'linux' in tests),
projectManagedHookCommand skips normalization — producing a mismatch
that breaks idempotency deduplication (the same hook entry appended
twice on re-register). Forward-slash paths are always valid in both
Node.js and Codex, so the normalization is safe for all platforms.
- Fix changeset pr: 0 → 827 to resolve fail_malformed_fragment.
- Add Codex hook coverage table to docs/how-to/install-on-your-runtime.md
documenting the SubagentStart/Stop/PostToolUse events + commandWindows
Windows-parity field added by this enhancement.

Add a Gemini CLI extension package so users can install, update, and
remove GSD through Gemini's own extension lifecycle and have it appear in
`gemini extensions list`:
gemini extensions install https://github.com/open-gsd/gsd-core
gemini extensions update gsd-core
gemini extensions uninstall gsd-core
gemini extensions link /path/to/gsd-core # dev
This mirrors the additive Claude Code plugin manifest (#766): a thin,
version-stamped manifest enforced by an in-repo drift test. The extension
ships the context-file payload (GEMINI.md), loaded into every Gemini
session; slash-command/agent/hook TOML projection into the extension is a
documented follow-up. The manual `npx gsd-core --gemini` installer (which
provides the /gsd:* commands) is unchanged — purely additive, no breaking
change.
- gemini-extension.json: name=binName, version tracks package.json,
description, contextFileName=GEMINI.md (minimal; no mcpServers — gsd
ships no MCP server)
- GEMINI.md: Gemini-session context payload
- package.json: add both artifacts to files[] so they publish
- CONTEXT.md: add "Gemini Extension Package" glossary entry
- docs: USER-GUIDE + install-on-your-runtime how-to
- tests/issue-775-gemini-extension.test.cjs: manifest validity, version
parity with package.json, contextFileName existence, files[] publication
